1 E ntonces dijo Salomón: El SEÑOR ha dicho que él habitaría en la oscuridad.

Then Solomon spoke: “The Lord said He would dwell in the dark cloud.

2 Y o, pues, he edificado una Casa de morada para ti, y una habitación en que mores para siempre.

I have surely built You an exalted house, And a place for You to dwell in forever.” Solomon’s Speech upon Completion of the Work

3 Y volviendo el rey su rostro, bendijo a toda la congregación de Israel; y toda la congregación de Israel estaba en pie.

Then the king turned around and blessed the whole assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel was standing.

4 Y él dijo: Bendito sea el SEÑOR Dios de Israel, el cual con su mano ha cumplido lo que habló por su boca a David mi padre, diciendo:

And he said: “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who has fulfilled with His hands what He spoke with His mouth to my father David, saying,

5 D esde el día que saqué mi pueblo de la tierra de Egipto, ninguna ciudad he elegido de todas las tribus de Israel para edificar casa donde estuviera mi Nombre, ni he escogido varón que fuera príncipe sobre mi pueblo Israel.

‘Since the day that I brought My people out of the land of Egypt, I have chosen no city from any tribe of Israel in which to build a house, that My name might be there, nor did I choose any man to be a ruler over My people Israel.

6 M as a Jerusalén he elegido para que en ella esté mi nombre, y a David he elegido para que fuera sobre mi pueblo Israel.

Yet I have chosen Jerusalem, that My name may be there, and I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.’

7 Y David mi padre tuvo en el corazón edificar Casa al Nombre del SEÑOR Dios de Israel.

Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a temple for the name of the Lord God of Israel.

8 M as el SEÑOR dijo a David mi padre: Respecto a haber tenido en tu corazón edificar Casa a mi nombre, bien has hecho en haber tenido esto en tu corazón;

But the Lord said to my father David, ‘Whereas it was in your heart to build a temple for My name, you did well in that it was in your heart.

9 p ero tú no edificarás la Casa, sino tu hijo que saldrá de tus lomos, él edificará Casa a mi nombre.

Nevertheless you shall not build the temple, but your son who will come from your body, he shall build the temple for My name.’

10 Y el SEÑOR ha cumplido su palabra que dijo, y me levanté yo por David mi padre, y me senté en el trono de Israel, como el SEÑOR había dicho, y he edificado Casa al nombre del SEÑOR Dios de Israel.

So the Lord has fulfilled His word which He spoke, and I have filled the position of my father David, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised; and I have built the temple for the name of the Lord God of Israel.

11 Y en ella he puesto el arca, en la cual está el pacto del SEÑOR que concertó con los hijos de Israel.

And there I have put the ark, in which is the covenant of the Lord which He made with the children of Israel.” Solomon’s Prayer of Dedication

12 S e puso luego Salomón delante del altar del SEÑOR, delante de toda la congregación de Israel, y extendió sus manos.

Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands

13 P orque Salomón había hecho una plataforma de bronce; cinco codos de largo, cinco codos de ancho, y de tres codos de altura, y lo había puesto en medio del atrio; y se puso sobre él, y se arrodilló delante de toda la congregación de Israel, y extendiendo sus manos al cielo, dijo:

(for Solomon had made a bronze platform five cubits long, five cubits wide, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court; and he stood on it, knelt down on his knees before all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven);

14 S EÑOR Dios de Israel, no hay Dios semejante a ti en el cielo ni en la tierra, que guardas el pacto y la misericordia a tus siervos que caminan delante de ti de todo su corazón;

and he said: “ Lord God of Israel, there is no God in heaven or on earth like You, who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts.

15 q ue has guardado a tu siervo David mi padre lo que le dijiste; tú lo dijiste de tu boca, mas con tu mano lo has cumplido, como se ve en este día.

You have kept what You promised Your servant David my father; You have both spoken with Your mouth and fulfilled it with Your hand, as it is this day.

16 A hora, pues, SEÑOR Dios de Israel, guarda a David mi padre lo que le has prometido, diciendo: No faltará de ti varón delante de mí, que se siente en el trono de Israel, a condición que tus hijos guarden su camino, andando en mi ley, como tú delante de mí has andado.

Therefore, Lord God of Israel, now keep what You promised Your servant David my father, saying, ‘You shall not fail to have a man sit before Me on the throne of Israel, only if your sons take heed to their way, that they walk in My law as you have walked before Me.’

17 A hora pues, oh SEÑOR Dios de Israel, sea firme tu palabra que dijiste a tu siervo David.

And now, O Lord God of Israel, let Your word come true, which You have spoken to Your servant David.

18 ¿ Es verdad que Dios ha de habitar con el hombre en la tierra? He aquí, los cielos y los cielos de los cielos no pueden contenerte; ¿cuánto menos esta Casa que he edificado?

“But will God indeed dwell with men on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built!

19 M as tú mirarás a la oración de tu siervo, y a su ruego, oh SEÑOR Dios mío, para oír el clamor y la oración con que tu siervo ora delante de ti;

Yet regard the prayer of Your servant and his supplication, O Lord my God, and listen to the cry and the prayer which Your servant is praying before You:

20 q ue tus ojos estén abiertos sobre esta Casa de día y de noche, sobre el lugar del cual dijiste, Mi Nombre estará allí; que oigas la oración con que tu siervo ora en este lugar.

that Your eyes may be open toward this temple day and night, toward the place where You said You would put Your name, that You may hear the prayer which Your servant makes toward this place.

21 A simismo que oigas el ruego de tu siervo, y de tu pueblo Israel, cuando oraren en este lugar, que tú oirás desde los cielos, desde el lugar de tu habitación; que oigas y perdones.

And may You hear the supplications of Your servant and of Your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven Your dwelling place, and when You hear, forgive.

22 S i alguno pecare contra su prójimo, y él le pidiere juramento haciéndole jurar, y el juramento viniere delante de tu altar en esta casa,

“If anyone sins against his neighbor, and is forced to take an oath, and comes and takes an oath before Your altar in this temple,

23 t ú oirás desde los cielos, y harás derecho a tus siervos, dando la paga al impío, haciendo volver su proceder sobre su cabeza, y justificando al justo en darle conforme a su justicia.

then hear from heaven, and act, and judge Your servants, bringing retribution on the wicked by bringing his way on his own head, and justifying the righteous by giving him according to his righteousness.

24 S i tu pueblo Israel cayere delante de los enemigos, por haber pecado contra ti, y si se convirtieren, y confesaren tu Nombre, y oraren, y rogaren delante de ti en esta Casa,

“Or if Your people Israel are defeated before an enemy because they have sinned against You, and return and confess Your name, and pray and make supplication before You in this temple,

25 t ú oirás desde los cielos, y perdonarás el pecado de tu pueblo Israel, y los volverás a la tierra que diste a ellos y a sus padres.

then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of Your people Israel, and bring them back to the land which You gave to them and their fathers.

26 S i los cielos se cerraren, que no haya lluvias por haber pecado contra ti, si oraren a ti en este lugar, y confesaren tu Nombre, y se convirtieren de sus pecados, cuando los afligieres,

“When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against You, when they pray toward this place and confess Your name, and turn from their sin because You afflict them,

27 t ú los oirás en los cielos, y perdonarás el pecado de tus siervos, y de tu pueblo Israel, y les enseñarás el buen camino para que anden en él, y darás lluvia sobre tu tierra, la cual diste por heredad a tu pueblo.

then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of Your servants, Your people Israel, that You may teach them the good way in which they should walk; and send rain on Your land which You have given to Your people as an inheritance.

28 Y si hubiere hambre en la tierra, o si hubiere pestilencia; si hubiere tizoncillo o añublo, langosta o pulgón; o si los cercaren sus enemigos en la tierra de sus ciudades; o cualquier aflicción o enfermedad que sea;

“When there is famine in the land, pestilence or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers; when their enemies besiege them in the land of their cities; whatever plague or whatever sickness there is;

29 t oda oración y todo ruego que hiciere cualquier hombre, o todo tu pueblo Israel, o cualquiera que conociere su aflicción y su dolor en su corazón, si extendiere sus manos a esta Casa,

whatever prayer, whatever supplication is made by anyone, or by all Your people Israel, when each one knows his own burden and his own grief, and spreads out his hands to this temple:

30 t ú oirás desde los cielos, desde el lugar de tu habitación, y perdonarás, y darás a cada uno conforme a sus caminos, habiendo conocido su corazón (porque solo tú conoces el corazón de los hijos de los hombres);

then hear from heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive, and give to everyone according to all his ways, whose heart You know (for You alone know the hearts of the sons of men),

31 p ara que te teman y anden en tus caminos, todos los días que vivieren sobre la faz de la tierra que tú diste a nuestros padres.

that they may fear You, to walk in Your ways as long as they live in the land which You gave to our fathers.

32 Y también al extranjero que no fuere de tu pueblo Israel, que hubiere venido de lejanas tierras a causa de tu gran Nombre, y de tu mano fuerte, y de tu brazo extendido, si vinieren, y oraren en esta Casa,

“Moreover, concerning a foreigner, who is not of Your people Israel, but has come from a far country for the sake of Your great name and Your mighty hand and Your outstretched arm, when they come and pray in this temple;

33 t ú oirás desde los cielos, desde la habitación de tu morada, y harás conforme a todas las cosas por las cuales hubiere clamado a ti el extranjero; para que todos los pueblos de la tierra conozcan tu Nombre, y te teman como tu pueblo Israel, y sepan que tu Nombre es invocado sobre esta Casa que he edificado yo.

then hear from heaven Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You, that all peoples of the earth may know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and that they may know that this temple which I have built is called by Your name.

34 S i tu pueblo saliere a la guerra contra sus enemigos por el camino que tú los enviares, y oraren a ti hacia esta ciudad que tú elegiste, hacia la Casa que he edificado a tu Nombre,

“When Your people go out to battle against their enemies, wherever You send them, and when they pray to You toward this city which You have chosen and the temple which I have built for Your name,

35 t ú oirás desde los cielos su oración y su ruego, y harás su juicio.

then hear from heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.

36 S i pecaren contra ti, (pues no hay hombre que no peque,) y te airares contra ellos, y los entregares delante de sus enemigos, para que los que los tomaren los lleven cautivos a tierra de enemigos, lejos o cerca,

“When they sin against You (for there is no one who does not sin), and You become angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, and they take them captive to a land far or near;

37 Y ellos volvieren en sí en la tierra donde fueren llevados cautivos; si se convirtieren, y oraren a ti en la tierra de su cautividad, y dijeren: Pecamos, hemos hecho inicuamente, impíamente hemos obrado;

yet when they come to themselves in the land where they were carried captive, and repent, and make supplication to You in the land of their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong, and have committed wickedness’;

38 s i se convirtieren a ti de todo su corazón y de toda su alma en la tierra de su cautividad, donde los hubieren llevado cautivos, y oraren hacia su tierra que tú diste a sus padres, hacia la ciudad que tú elegiste, y hacia la Casa que he edificado a tu Nombre;

and when they return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, where they have been carried captive, and pray toward their land which You gave to their fathers, the city which You have chosen, and toward the temple which I have built for Your name:

39 t ú oirás desde los cielos, desde la morada de su habitación, su oración y su ruego, y harás su juicio, y perdonarás a tu pueblo que pecó contra ti.

then hear from heaven Your dwelling place their prayer and their supplications, and maintain their cause, and forgive Your people who have sinned against You.

40 A hora, pues, oh Dios mío, te ruego estén abiertos tus ojos, y atentos tus oídos a la oración en este lugar.

Now, my God, I pray, let Your eyes be open and let Your ears be attentive to the prayer made in this place.

41 O h SEÑOR Dios, levántate ahora para habitar en tu reposo, tú y el arca de tu fortaleza; sean, oh SEÑOR Dios, vestidos de salvación tus sacerdotes, y gocen de bien tus misericordiosos.

“Now therefore, Arise, O Lord God, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength. Let Your priests, O Lord God, be clothed with salvation, And let Your saints rejoice in goodness.

42 S EÑOR Dios, no hagas volver el rostro de tu ungido; acuérdate de las misericordias de David tu siervo.

“O Lord God, do not turn away the face of Your Anointed; Remember the mercies of Your servant David.”
