1 Т огда Иов ответил:

And Job answered and said,

2 – Воистину, только вы люди, и мудрость умрет вместе с вами!

No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.

3 Н о у меня есть ум, как у вас; я ничем не хуже вас, да и кто же всего этого не знает?

But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?

4 Я стал для друзей посмешищем, а ведь я к Богу взывал, и Он мне отвечал! Я, праведный и безупречный, стал посмешищем!

I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.

5 К то, находясь в благополучии, презирает несчастного, тот вскоре и сам поскользнется.

He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.

6 Ш атры грабителей в безопасности, и те, кто гневит Бога, спокойны, словно держат Бога в руках. Бог дал разумение всему творению

The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.

7 Н о спроси у животных, они научат тебя, у небесных птиц, они тебе скажут.

But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:

8 П обеседуй с землей, она наставит тебя, и рыбы морские тебе возвестят.

or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.

9 К то среди них не знает, что все это сделала рука Господня?

Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this?

10 Ж изнь всякой твари в Его руке, как и дыхание всякого человека.

In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

11 Р азве не ухо различает слова, и не язык распознает вкус пищи?

Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?

12 Р азве не у старейших мудрость? Разве долгая жизнь не приносит разум? Все в руках Бога

With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.

13 У Бога – мудрость и сила; совет и разум – Его.

With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

14 Ч то Он разрушил, не восстановится, заключенные им не выйдут на волю.

Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.

15 О н удержит воды, и будет засуха; отпустит – они затопят землю.

Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.

16 У Него всесилие и премудрость; в Его власти и обманутый, и обманщик.

With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.

17 С оветчиков Он гонит босыми и глупцами делает судей.

He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.

18 У царей Он развязывает пояса мантии, и обвязывает им бедра повязкой раба.

He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.

19 С вященников Он гонит босыми, и низвергает сильных.

He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.

20 О н лишает речи искусных советников и отбирает разум у старцев.

He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.

21 О н покрывает позором знатных и лишает оружия могучих.

He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.

22 О н открывает глубины тьмы и выводит на свет тень смертную.

He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.

23 О н возвышает и губит народы, умножает их и рассеивает.

He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.

24 О н лишает рассудка земных владык и шлет их в пустыню, где нет пути.

He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.

25 Б редут они на ощупь в темноте, без света, и шатаются, словно пьяные.

They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.
