1 Н е завидуй неправедным людям, к обществу их не стремись,

Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.

2 в едь насилие у них на уме, и уста их говорят о злодействе.

For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.

3 М удростью строится дом и разумом утверждается;

Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:

4 з нание наполняет его комнаты дорогим и красивым добром.

and by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

5 М удрый человек – силен, и тот, кто сведущ, увеличивает свою силу,

A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.

6 в едь чтобы воевать, тебе нужен мудрый совет, и для победы – много советников.

For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.

7 М удрость слишком возвышена для глупцов; в собрании у ворот нечего им сказать.

Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.

8 К то замышляет дурное, того назовут злоумышленником.

He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.

9 З амыслы глупости – грех, и глумливого гнушаются люди.

The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.

10 Е сли ты дал слабину в день беды, сила твоя ничтожна.

If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

11 О свобождай ведомых на смерть безвинно, бредущих на убой спасай.

If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;

12 В от ты говоришь: «Ой, мы об этом не знали», – но разве Взвешивающий сердца не поймет? Разве Хранящий твою жизнь не узнает? И разве Он не воздаст каждому по делам?

if thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

13 Е шь мед, мой сын, ведь он хорош; сотовый мед тебе сладок.

My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:

14 З най: такова душе твоей мудрость; если найдешь ее – есть у тебя будущее, и надежда твоя не погибнет.

so shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

15 Н е устраивай, как разбойник, засады у дома праведника, не разоряй его крова,

Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:

16 в едь праведник, пусть семь раз упадет, поднимется, а злодеев беда погубит.

for a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

17 Н е радуйся, когда враг твой упал, и когда он споткнулся, пусть сердце твое не ликует,

Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:

18 и наче Господь увидит, это будет Ему неугодно и Он отвратит от него Свой гнев.

lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

19 Н е раздражайся из-за злодеев и не завидуй нечестивым,

Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked;

20 в едь у злодея нет будущего, и светильник нечестивых погаснет.

for there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.

21 С ын мой, бойся Господа и царя и не общайся с мятежниками,

My son, fear thou the Lord and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:

22 в едь от них обоих внезапно придет к ним беда, и кто знает, какие невзгоды они им пошлют? Дополнительные высказывания мудрецов

for their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?

23 В от еще изречения мудрецов: Выказывать лицеприятие на суде нехорошо.

These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.

24 Н а сказавшего виноватому: «Ты невиновен », – будут слать проклятия народы, и племена будут негодовать.

He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:

25 А осудившие виновного, будут преуспевать, и придет на них доброе благословение.

but to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.

26 Ч естный ответ, – что поцелуй в губы.

Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.

27 З аверши работу на улице, приведи в порядок свои поля, а потом можешь строить свой дом.

Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.

28 Н е свидетельствуй против ближнего без вины и не лги своими устами.

Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.

29 Н е говори: «Поступлю с ним, как он со мной; отплачу ему за то, что он сделал».

Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.

30 Я шел мимо поля лентяя, мимо виноградника человека неразумного:

I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

31 в се поросло колючкой, сорняками зарос участок, и ограда из камня рухнула.

and, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

32 Я глядел и думал об этом, я смотрел и понял урок:

Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

33 н емного поспишь, немного подремлешь, немного, руки сложив, полежишь,

Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

34 и придет к тебе нищета, как бродяга, и настигнет нужда, как разбойник.

so shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
