1 С пасшись, мы узнали, что остров называется Мальта.

And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita.

2 Ж ители острова оказали нам необычайное гостеприимство. Они разожгли костер и пригласили нас к себе, так как было холодно и шел дождь.

And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

3 К огда Павел, собрав охапку хвороста, стал бросать его в костер, ему в руку вцепилась ядовитая змея, которая, спасаясь от жара, выползла из хвороста.

And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

4 К огда жители острова увидели, что с руки Павла свисает змея, они стали говорить друг другу: – Без сомнения, этот человек убийца: он спасся из моря, но богиня возмездия не позволила ему остаться в живых.

And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

5 Н о Павел стряхнул змею в огонь, и она не причинила ему никакого вреда.

And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

6 Л юди ожидали, что он начнет опухать или внезапно упадет мертвым. Они прождали долгое время, и когда увидели, что с ним ничего не происходит, изменили мнение и стали говорить, что он какое-то божество.

Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

7 Н еподалеку было имение, принадлежавшее правителю острова по имени Публий. Он радушно принял нас у себя, и три дня мы гостили у него.

In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.

8 О тец Публия был болен и лежал в постели, у него был жар и дизентерия. Павел вошел к нему, помолился, возложил на него руки и исцелил его.

And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.

9 К огда народ это увидел, то все больные острова стали приходить и получали исцеление.

So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:

10 О ни воздали нам много почестей, и когда мы должны были отплывать, они снабдили нас в дорогу всем необходимым. Прибытие в Рим

who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

11 С пустя три месяца мы вышли в море на корабле из Александрии, который зимовал на острове. Этот корабль носил имя богов-близнецов Кастора и Поллукса.

And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.

12 М ы приплыли в Сиракузы и пробыли там три дня.

And landing at Syracuse, we tarried there three days.

13 О ттуда мы, идя галсами, прибыли в Ригий. На следующий день подул южный ветер, и мы прибыли в Путеолы.

And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:

14 Т ам мы нашли братьев, и они попросили нас провести с ними неделю. И вот мы, наконец, прибыли в Рим.

where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.

15 Б ратья в Риме слышали о том, что мы должны прибыть, и вышли навстречу нам до самой Аппиевой площади, а другие до городка Три Гостиницы. Когда Павел увидел их, он поблагодарил Бога и ободрился.

And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.

16 М ы прибыли в Рим, и Павлу разрешили жить отдельно. С ним жил лишь солдат, который и стерег его. Служение Павла в Риме

And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.

17 Т ри дня спустя Павел созвал руководителей иудейской общины Рима. Когда они собрались, он сказал им: – Братья, я был арестован в Иерусалиме и выдан римлянам, хотя я не сделал ничего ни против нашего народа, ни против обычаев наших предков.

And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.

18 Р имляне провели расследование по моему делу и хотели меня отпустить, так как за мной нет никакой вины, за которую я заслуживал бы смерти.

Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me.

19 Н о поскольку предводители иудеев возражали, я вынужден был потребовать суда у кесаря, и сделал я это вовсе не для того, чтобы в чем-либо обвинить мой народ.

But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Cæsar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.

20 Я и созвал вас сегодня, чтобы увидеть вас и поговорить с вами. Ведь за надежду Израиля на мне эти цепи.

For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

21 С лушавшие Павла ответили: – Мы не получали о тебе никаких писем из Иудеи, и никто из братьев, прибывших оттуда, не говорил нам о тебе ничего плохого.

And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judæa concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.

22 Н о мы хотели бы от тебя самого услышать, как ты сам думаешь, потому что до нас доходят лишь отрицательные отклики об этой секте.

But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.

23 О ни условились с Павлом, и в назначенный день к нему домой пришло еще больше народу. Павел с утра и до вечера говорил им о Божьем Царстве и свидетельствовал им об Иисусе словами из Закона Моисея и из пророков.

And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

24 Н екоторых он убедил, другие же не верили.

And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

25 У них начались разногласия между собой, и когда они стали уходить, Павел произнес такие слова: – Святой Дух правильно сказал вашим отцам через пророка Исаию:

And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

26 « Пойди к этому народу и скажи: вы будете слушать и слушать, но не поймете, будете смотреть и смотреть, но не увидите.

saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:

27 С ердце этого народа ожесточилось, они с трудом слышат ушами и глаза свои закрыли, чтобы не увидеть глазами, не услышать ушами, не понять сердцем и не обратиться, чтобы Я исцелил их».

for the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

28 И так, знайте, что спасение Божье послано язычникам: они и услышат эту весть!

Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

29 П осле этих слов иудеи разошлись, горячо споря друг с другом.

And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.

30 П авел жил в Риме еще целых два года в снятом им помещении и принимал всех, кто приходил к нему.

And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,

31 О н смело и беспрепятственно возвещал Царство Божье и учил о Господе Иисусе Христе.

preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.
