1 К огда было решено, что мы отправимся в Италию, Павла и других заключенных передали сотнику по имени Юлий, из императорского полка.

And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus’ band.

2 М ы сели на адрамитский корабль, который должен был заходить в порты провинции Азия, и отправились в путь. С нами был македонянин Аристарх из Фессалоники.

And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.

3 Н а следующий день мы причалили в Сидоне. Юлий хорошо обращался с Павлом и позволил ему навестить друзей, чтобы они позаботились о его нуждах.

And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.

4 М ы опять вышли в море и прошли Кипр с подветренной стороны, чтобы избежать встречного ветра.

And when we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.

5 М ы пересекли открытое море, омывающее берега Киликии и Памфилии, и причалили в ликийском городе Миры.

And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.

6 Т ам сотник нашел корабль из Александрии, направлявшийся в Италию, и посадил нас на него.

And there the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy; and he put us therein.

7 В течение многих дней мы медленно продвигались вперед и в конце концов, хотя и с трудностями, но прибыли в Книд. И так как ветер не давал нам двигаться в нужном направлении, мы подплыли к Криту со стороны Салмоны.

And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone;

8 С трудом продвигаясь вдоль побережья, мы прибыли в место, называемое Хорошие Пристани, недалеко от города Ласея.

and, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh whereunto was the city of Lasea.

9 Т ак как мы потеряли уже много времени и плавание становилось опасным, потому что даже иудейский осенний пост уже прошел, Павел предупредил их:

Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,

10 – Я вижу, что наше путешествие будет сопряжено с большой опасностью и тяжелым ущербом не только для груза и корабля, но и для нашей жизни.

and said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

11 С отник же вместо того, чтобы послушать Павла, последовал совету капитана и владельца корабля.

Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.

12 П орт этот был непригоден для зимовки, и большинство решило отправиться дальше, чтобы попытаться доплыть до Финика и там зазимовать. Финик был пристанью на Крите, открытой для юго-западного и северо-западного ветров. Шторм

And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.

13 П одул легкий южный ветер, и, решив, что он-то им и нужен, моряки подняли якорь и поплыли вдоль побережья Крита.

And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.

14 Н емного времени спустя с острова подул ураганный северо-восточный ветер, называемый эвракилоном.

But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.

15 О н подхватил корабль, который не мог двигаться против ветра. Тогда мы отдались на волю волн и носились, гонимые ветром.

And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.

16 М ы оказались с подветренной стороны маленького острова Кавда. Там нам с большими трудностями удалось сохранить лодку.

And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:

17 К огда ее подняли на корабль, матросы провели канаты под кораблем и обвязали его. Из страха сесть на песчаные отмели Сирта, они спустили паруса и продолжали плыть, носимые ветром.

which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.

18 Ш торм так сильно бросал корабль, что на следующий день они стали сбрасывать груз за борт.

And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;

19 Н а третий день они своими руками выбросили за борт корабельные снасти.

and the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.

20 Н есколько дней не было видно ни солнца, ни звезд, а шторм все бушевал. Мы уже потеряли всякую надежду на спасение.

And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

21 Л юди долго ничего не ели. Тогда Павел встал среди них и сказал: – Вам следовало послушаться моего совета и не отплывать от Крита, тогда у вас не было бы этих бед и потерь.

But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.

22 Н о сейчас ободритесь, никто из вас не погибнет, только корабль разобьется.

And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship.

23 П рошлой ночью мне явился ангел Бога, Которому я принадлежу и Которому служу.

For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,

24 О н сказал мне: «Павел, не бойся. Ты должен предстать перед кесарем, и Бог по Своей милости даровал жизнь и всем, кто плывет с тобой».

saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Cæsar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

25 Т ак что не бойтесь! Я доверяю Богу и верю, что все будет так, как мне сказано.

Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

26 К орабль будет выброшен на какой-нибудь остров. Кораблекрушение

Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.

27 Н а четырнадцатые сутки, когда нас все еще носило по Адриатическому морю, в полночь матросы почувствовали, что мы приближаемся к земле.

But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about midnight the shipmen deemed that they drew near to some country;

28 О ни замерили глубину, и оказалось, что глубина была двадцать сажен, а когда замерили немного позже, глубина была уже пятнадцать сажен.

and sounded, and found it twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms.

29 М атросы боялись, что нас ударит о камни, и спустили с кормы четыре якоря, молясь, чтобы скорее наступил день.

Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.

30 О ни попытались бежать с корабля и стали спускать спасательную лодку, делая вид, что хотят опустить якорь с носа корабля.

And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the foreship,

31 П авел сказал сотнику и солдатам: – Если эти люди не останутся на корабле, то вам не спастись.

Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.

32 Т огда солдаты перерубили канаты, державшие лодку, и она упала в море.

Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off.

33 Н а рассвете Павел стал уговаривать людей поесть. – Последние четырнадцать дней вы постоянно в напряжении и ничего не ели, – сказал он. –

And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing.

34 Я настоятельно советую вам поесть, и это поможет вам спастись. Ни у кого из вас даже волос с головы не упадет.

Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.

35 С казав это, Павел взял хлеб, поблагодарил за него Бога перед всеми, разломил и стал есть.

And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat.

36 Л юдей это ободрило, и все стали есть.

Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some meat.

37 В сего на борту нас было двести семьдесят шесть человек.

And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls.

38 К огда люди досыта поели, они стали облегчать корабль, выбрасывая в море зерно.

And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, and cast out the wheat into the sea.

39 Н а рассвете они не узнали показавшуюся землю, но увидели бухту с песчаным берегом, к которому они и решили пристать, если удастся.

And when it was day, they knew not the land: but they discovered a certain creek with a shore, into the which they were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the ship.

40 О брубив якоря и оставив их в море, матросы развязали рулевые весла, подняли малый парус и направили судно к берегу.

And when they had taken up the anchors, they committed themselves unto the sea, and loosed the rudder bands, and hoised up the mainsail to the wind, and made toward shore.

41 К орабль налетел на песчаную косу и сел на мель. Нос глубоко увяз и был неподвижен, а корму разбивали волны.

And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the forepart stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves.

42 С олдаты решили убить всех заключенных, чтобы никто из них, выплыв, не сбежал.

And the soldiers’ counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape.

43 Н о сотник хотел спасти Павла и остановил их. Он приказал тем, кто мог плавать, прыгать в воду первыми и плыть к берегу.

But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:

44 О стальные должны были добираться на досках и на обломках от корабля. Таким образом все благополучно выбрались на берег.

and the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.
