1 M a ora cosí dice l'Eterno, che ti ha creato, o Giacobbe, che ti ha formato, o Israele: «Non temere, perché io ti ho redento, ti ho chiamato per nome; tu mi appartieni.

But now, thus says the Lord, your Creator, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine!

2 Q uando passerai attraverso le acque io sarò con te, o attraverserai i fiumi, non ti sommergeranno; quando camminerai in mezzo al fuoco, non sarai bruciato e la fiamma non ti consumerà.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you.

3 P oiché io sono l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, il Santo d'Israele, il tuo Salvatore. Ho dato l'Egitto come prezzo per il tuo riscatto, l'Etiopia e Seba, al tuo posto.

“For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I have given Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in your place.

4 P erché tu sei prezioso ai miei occhi e onorato, e io ti amo, io do uomini al tuo posto e popoli in cambio della tua vita.

“Since you are precious in My sight, Since you are honored and I love you, I will give other men in your place and other peoples in exchange for your life.

5 N on temere, perché io sono con te; farò venire la tua progenie dall'est e ti radunerò dall'ovest.

“Do not fear, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, And gather you from the west.

6 D irò al settentrione: "Restituiscili" e al mezzogiorno: "Non trattenerli. Fa' venire i miei figli da lontano e le mie figlie dalle estremità della terra,

“I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ And to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’ Bring My sons from afar And My daughters from the ends of the earth,

7 t utti quelli che si chiamano col mio nome, che ho creato per la mia gloria, che ho formato e anche fatto".

Everyone who is called by My name, And whom I have created for My glory, Whom I have formed, even whom I have made.” Israel Is God’s Witness

8 F a' uscire il popolo cieco che tuttavia ha gli occhi, e i sordi che tuttavia hanno le orecchie.

Bring out the people who are blind, even though they have eyes, And the deaf, even though they have ears.

9 S i radunino insieme tutte le nazioni si riuniscano i popoli! Chi tra di loro può annunciare questo e farci udire le cose passate? Presentino i loro testimoni per essere giustificati; o ascoltino essi e dicano: "E' vero!"

All the nations have gathered together So that the peoples may be assembled. Who among them can declare this And proclaim to us the former things? Let them present their witnesses that they may be justified, Or let them hear and say, “It is true.”

10 I miei testimoni siete voi, dice l'Eterno, insieme al servo che ho scelto, affinché voi mi conosciate e crediate in me, e comprendiate che sono io. Prima di me nessun Dio fu formato, e dopo di me non ve ne sarà alcuno.

“You are My witnesses,” declares the Lord, “And My servant whom I have chosen, So that you may know and believe Me And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, And there will be none after Me.

11 I o, io sono l'Eterno, e all'infuori di me non c'è Salvatore,

“I, even I, am the Lord, And there is no savior besides Me.

12 I O ho annunciato, salvato e proclamato, e non c'era alcun dio straniero tra di voi; perciò voi siete miei testimoni, dice l'Eterno, e io sono Dio.

“It is I who have declared and saved and proclaimed, And there was no strange god among you; So you are My witnesses,” declares the Lord, “And I am God.

13 P rima dell'inizio del tempo io sono sempre lo stesso, e nessuno può liberare dalla mia mano; quando io opero, chi può ostacolarmi?.

“Even from eternity I am He, And there is none who can deliver out of My hand; I act and who can reverse it?” Babylon to Be Destroyed

14 C osí dice l'Eterno, il vostro Redentore, il Santo d'Israele: «Per amore vostro io mando uno contro Babilonia, e li metterò tutti in fuga; cosí i Caldei fuggiranno nelle navi con grida di dolore.

Thus says the Lord your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, “For your sake I have sent to Babylon, And will bring them all down as fugitives, Even the Chaldeans, into the ships in which they rejoice.

15 I O sono l'Eterno, il vostro Santo, il creatore d'Israele, il vostro re».

“I am the Lord, your Holy One, The Creator of Israel, your King.”

16 C osí dice l'Eterno che aperse una strada nel mare e un sentiero fra le acque potenti,

Thus says the Lord, Who makes a way through the sea And a path through the mighty waters,

17 c he fece uscire carri, cavalli e un esercito potente; essi giacciono tutti insieme e non si rialzeranno piú; sono annientati, spenti come un lucignolo.

Who brings forth the chariot and the horse, The army and the mighty man (They will lie down together and not rise again; They have been quenched and extinguished like a wick):

18 « Non ricordate piú le cose passate non considerate piú le cose antiche.

“ Do not call to mind the former things, Or ponder things of the past.

19 E cco, io faccio una cosa nuova; essa germoglierà; non la riconoscerete voi? Sí, aprirò una strada nel deserto, farò scorrere fiumi nella solitudine.

“Behold, I will do something new, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.

20 L e bestie dei campi, gli sciacalli e gli struzzi mi glorificheranno, perché darò acqua al deserto e fiumi alla solitudine per dar da bere al mio popolo, il mio eletto.

“The beasts of the field will glorify Me, The jackals and the ostriches, Because I have given waters in the wilderness And rivers in the desert, To give drink to My chosen people.

21 I l popolo che mi sono formato proclamerà le mie lodi.

“The people whom I formed for Myself Will declare My praise. The Shortcomings of Israel

22 M a tu non mi hai invocato, o Giacobbe, anzi ti sei stancato di me, o Israele!

“Yet you have not called on Me, O Jacob; But you have become weary of Me, O Israel.

23 N on mi hai portato l'agnello dei tuoi olocausti e non mi hai onorato con i tuoi sacrifici; non ti ho obbligato a servirmi con offerte di cibo, né ti ho stancato richiedendo incenso,

“You have not brought to Me the sheep of your burnt offerings, Nor have you honored Me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you with offerings, Nor wearied you with incense.

24 N on mi hai comprato con denaro la cannella e non mi hai saziato col grasso dei tuoi sacrifici. Invece tu mi hai gravato con i tuoi peccati, mi hai stancato con le tue iniquità.

“You have bought Me not sweet cane with money, Nor have you filled Me with the fat of your sacrifices; Rather you have burdened Me with your sins, You have wearied Me with your iniquities.

25 I o, proprio io, sono colui che per amore di me stesso cancello le tue trasgressioni e non ricorderò piú i tuoi peccati.

“I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake, And I will not remember your sins.

26 F ammi ricordare, discutiamo il caso insieme, parla tu stesso per giustificarti.

“ Put Me in remembrance, let us argue our case together; State your cause, that you may be proved right.

27 I l tuo primo padre ha peccato e i tuoi maestri si sono ribellati a me.

“Your first forefather sinned, And your spokesmen have transgressed against Me.

28 P erciò ho reso contaminati i capi del santuario, ho votato Giacobbe allo sterminio e Israele agli obbrobri».

“So I will pollute the princes of the sanctuary, And I will consign Jacob to the ban and Israel to revilement.
