1 Y Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: Es inevitable que vengan tropiezos, pero ¡ay de aquel por quien vienen!

And said to His disciples, Temptations (snares, traps set to entice to sin) are sure to come, but woe to him by or through whom they come!

2 M ejor le sería si se le colgara una piedra de molino al cuello y fuera arrojado al mar, que hacer tropezar a uno de estos pequeños.

It would be more profitable for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were hurled into the sea than that he should cause to sin or be a snare to one of these little ones '> lowly in rank or influence].

3 ¡ Tened cuidado! Si tu hermano peca, repréndelo; y si se arrepiente, perdónalo.

Pay attention and always be on your guard. If your brother sins (misses the mark), solemnly tell him so and reprove him, and if he repents (feels sorry for having sinned), forgive him.

4 Y si peca contra ti siete veces al día, y vuelve a ti siete veces, diciendo: “Me arrepiento”, perdónalo. La fe y el servicio

And even if he sins against you seven times in a day, and turns to you seven times and says, I repent, you must forgive him (give up resentment and consider the offense as recalled and annulled).

5 Y los apóstoles dijeron al Señor: ¡Auméntanos la fe!

The apostles said to the Lord, Increase our faith (that trust and confidence that spring from our belief in God).

6 E ntonces el Señor dijo: Si tuvierais fe como un grano de mostaza, diríais a este sicómoro: “Desarráigate y plántate en el mar.” Y os obedecería.

And the Lord answered, If you had faith (trust and confidence in God) even like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, Be pulled up by the roots, and be planted in the sea, and it would obey you.

7 ¿ Quién de vosotros tiene un siervo arando o pastoreando ovejas, y cuando regresa del campo, le dice: “Ven enseguida y siéntate a comer ”?

Will any man of you who has a servant plowing or tending sheep say to him when he has come in from the field, Come at once and take your place at the table?

8 ¿ No le dirá más bien: “Prepárame algo para cenar, y vístete adecuadamente, y sírveme hasta que haya comido y bebido; y después comerás y beberás tú”?

Will he not instead tell him, Get my supper ready and gird yourself and serve me while I eat and drink; then afterward you yourself shall eat and drink?

9 ¿ Acaso le da las gracias al siervo porque hizo lo que se le ordenó?

Is he grateful and does he praise the servant because he did what he was ordered to do?

10 A sí también vosotros, cuando hayáis hecho todo lo que se os ha ordenado, decid: “Siervos inútiles somos; hemos hecho sólo lo que debíamos haber hecho.” Los diez leprosos

Even so on your part, when you have done everything that was assigned and commanded you, say, We are unworthy servants; we have done what was our duty to do.

11 Y aconteció que mientras iba camino a Jerusalén, pasaba entre Samaria y Galilea,

As He went on His way to Jerusalem, it occurred that was passing between Samaria and Galilee.

12 y al entrar en cierta aldea, le salieron al encuentro diez hombres leprosos, que se pararon a distancia,

And as He was going into one village, He was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance.

13 y alzaron la voz, diciendo: ¡Jesús, Maestro! ¡Ten misericordia de nosotros!

And they raised up their voices and called, Jesus, Master, take pity and have mercy on us!

14 C uando El los vio, les dijo: Id y mostraos a los sacerdotes. Y sucedió que mientras iban, quedaron limpios.

And when He saw them, He said to them, Go and show yourselves to the priests. And as they went, they were cured and made clean.

15 E ntonces uno de ellos, al ver que había sido sanado, se volvió glorificando a Dios en alta voz.

Then one of them, upon seeing that he was cured, turned back, recognizing and thanking and praising God with a loud voice;

16 Y cayó sobre su rostro a los pies de Jesús, dándole gracias; y éste era samaritano.

And he fell prostrate at Jesus’ feet, thanking Him. And he was a Samaritan.

17 R espondiendo Jesús, dijo: ¿No fueron diez los que quedaron limpios? Y los otros nueve, ¿dónde están?

Then Jesus asked, Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine?

18 ¿ No hubo ninguno que regresara a dar gloria a Dios, excepto este extranjero?

Was there no one found to return and to recognize and give thanks and praise to God except this alien?

19 Y le dijo: Levántate y vete; tu fe te ha sanado. Llegada del reino de Dios

And He said to him, Get up and go on your way. Your faith (your trust and confidence that spring from your belief in God) has restored you to health.

20 H abiéndole preguntado los fariseos cuándo vendría el reino de Dios, Jesús les respondió, y dijo: El reino de Dios no viene con señales visibles,

Asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He replied to them by saying, The kingdom of God does not come with signs to be observed or with visible display,

21 n i dirán: “¡Mirad, aquí está!” o: “¡Allí está!” Porque he aquí, el reino de Dios entre vosotros está.

Nor will people say, Look! Here! or, See, there! For behold, the kingdom of God is within you and among you.

22 Y dijo a los discípulos: Vendrán días cuando ansiaréis ver uno de los días del Hijo del Hombre, y no lo veréis.

And He said to the disciples, The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see.

23 Y os dirán: “¡Mirad allí! ¡Mirad aquí!” No vayáis, ni corráis tras ellos.

And they will say to you, Look! there! or, Look! here! But do not go out or follow.

24 P orque como el relámpago al fulgurar resplandece desde un extremo del cielo hasta el otro extremo del cielo, así será el Hijo del Hombre en su día.

For like the lightning, that flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other, so will the Son of Man be in His day.

25 P ero primero es necesario que El padezca mucho y sea rechazado por esta generación.

But first He must suffer many things and be disapproved and repudiated and rejected by this age and generation.

26 T al como ocurrió en los días de Noé, así será también en los días del Hijo del Hombre.

And as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the time of the Son of Man.

27 C omían, bebían, se casaban y se daban en casamiento, hasta el día en que Noé entró en el arca, y vino el diluvio y los destruyó a todos.

ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, right up to the day when Noah went into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

28 F ue lo mismo que ocurrió en los días de Lot: comían, bebían, compraban, vendían, plantaban, construían;

So also as it was in the days of Lot. ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built;

29 p ero el día en que Lot salió de Sodoma, llovió fuego y azufre del cielo y los destruyó a todos.

But on the day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed all.

30 L o mismo acontecerá el día en que el Hijo del Hombre sea revelado.

That is the way it will be on the day that the Son of Man is revealed.

31 E n ese día, el que esté en la azotea y tenga sus bienes en casa, no descienda a llevárselos; y de igual modo, el que esté en el campo no vuelva atrás.

On that day let him who is on the housetop, with his belongings in the house, not come down to carry them away; and likewise let him who is in the field not turn back.

32 A cordaos de la mujer de Lot.

Remember Lot’s wife!

33 T odo el que procure preservar su vida, la perderá; y todo el que la pierda, la conservará.

Whoever tries to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will preserve and quicken it.

34 O s digo que en aquella noche estarán dos en una cama; uno será tomado y el otro será dejado.

I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left.

35 E starán dos mujeres moliendo en el mismo lugar; una será tomada y la otra será dejada.

There will be two women grinding together; one will be taken and the other will be left.

36 D os estarán en el campo; uno será tomado y el otro será dejado.

Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other will be left.

37 R espondiendo ellos, le dijeron: ¿Dónde, Señor? Y El les dijo: Donde esté el cuerpo, allí también se juntarán los buitres.

Then they asked Him, Where, Lord? He said to them, Wherever the dead body is, there will the vultures or eagles be gathered together.
