1 Y partió Israel con todo lo que tenía y llegó a Beerseba, y ofreció sacrificios al Dios de su padre Isaac.

So Israel made his journey with all that he had and came to Beersheba and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.

2 Y Dios habló a Israel en una visión nocturna, y dijo: Jacob, Jacob. Y él respondió: Heme aquí.

And God spoke to Israel in visions of the night, and said, Jacob! Jacob! And he said, Here am I.

3 Y El dijo: Yo soy Dios, el Dios de tu padre; no temas descender a Egipto, porque allí te haré una gran nación.

And He said, I am God, the God of your father; do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will there make of you a great nation.

4 Y o descenderé contigo a Egipto, y ciertamente, yo también te haré volver; y José cerrará tus ojos.

I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely bring you up again; and Joseph will put his hand upon your eyes.

5 E ntonces Jacob partió de Beerseba; y los hijos de Israel llevaron a su padre Jacob, y a sus pequeños y a sus mujeres, en las carretas que Faraón había enviado para llevarlo.

So Jacob arose and set out from Beersheba, and Israel’s sons conveyed their father, their little ones, and their wives in the wagons that Pharaoh had sent to carry him.

6 Y tomaron sus ganados y los bienes que habían acumulado en la tierra de Canaán y vinieron a Egipto, Jacob y toda su descendencia con él:

And they took their cattle and the gains which they had acquired in the land of Canaan and came into Egypt, Jacob and all his offspring with him:

7 s us hijos y sus nietos con él, sus hijas y sus nietas; a toda su descendencia trajo consigo a Egipto.

His sons and his sons’ sons with him, his daughters and his sons’ daughters—all his offspring he brought with him into Egypt.

8 E stos son los nombres de los hijos de Israel, Jacob y sus hijos, que fueron a Egipto: Rubén, primogénito de Jacob.

And these are the names of the descendants of Israel who came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn.

9 L os hijos de Rubén: Hanoc, Falú, Hezrón y Carmi.

And the sons of Reuben: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

10 L os hijos de Simeón: Jemuel, Jamín, Ohad, Jaquín, Zohar y Saúl, hijo de la cananea.

The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman.

11 L os hijos de Leví: Gersón, Coat y Merari.

The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

12 L os hijos de Judá: Er, Onán, Sela, Fares y Zara (pero Er y Onán murieron en la tierra de Canaán). Y los hijos de Fares fueron Hezrón y Hamul.

The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah; but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.

13 L os hijos de Isacar: Tola, Fúa, Job y Simrón.

The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puvah, Iob, and Shimron.

14 L os hijos de Zabulón: Sered, Elón y Jahleel.

The sons of Zebulun: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel.

15 E stos son los hijos de Lea, los que le dio a luz a Jacob en Padán-aram, y además su hija Dina; todos sus hijos y sus hijas eran treinta y tres.

These are the sons of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob in Padan-aram, together with his daughter Dinah. All of his sons and his daughters numbered thirty-three.

16 L os hijos de Gad: Zifión, Hagui, Suni, Ezbón, Eri, Arodi y Areli.

The sons of Gad: Ziphion, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli.

17 L os hijos de Aser: Imna, Isúa, Isúi, Bería y Sera, hermana de ellos. Y los hijos de Bería: Heber y Malquiel.

The sons of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, Beriah, and Serah their sister. And the sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel.

18 E stos son los hijos de Zilpa, a quien Labán dio a su hija Lea, y que le dio a luz a Jacob estas dieciséis personas.

These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter. And these she bore to Jacob—sixteen persons all told.

19 L os hijos de Raquel, mujer de Jacob: José y Benjamín.

The sons of Rachel, Jacob’s wife: Joseph and Benjamin.

20 Y a José, en la tierra de Egipto le nacieron Manasés y Efraín, los cuales le dio a luz Asenat, hija de Potifera, sacerdote de On.

And to Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On, bore to him.

21 L os hijos de Benjamín: Bela, Bequer, Asbel, Gera, Naamán, Ehi, Ros, Mupim, Hupim y Ard.

And the sons of Benjamin: Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard.

22 E stos son los hijos de Raquel, que le nacieron a Jacob; catorce personas en total.

These are the sons of Rachel, who were born to Jacob—fourteen persons in all.

23 L os hijos de Dan: Husim.

The son of Dan: Hushim.

24 L os hijos de Neftalí: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer y Silem.

The sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem.

25 E stos son los hijos de Bilha, a quien Labán dio a su hija Raquel, y que ella le dio a luz a Jacob; en total siete personas.

These are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to Rachel his daughter. And she bore these to Jacob—seven persons in all.

26 T odas las personas de la familia de Jacob, que vinieron a Egipto, descendientes directos suyos, no incluyendo las mujeres de los hijos de Jacob, eran en total sesenta y seis personas.

All the persons who came with Jacob into Egypt—who were his own offspring, not counting the wives of Jacob’s sons—were sixty-six persons all told.

27 Y los hijos de José, que le nacieron en Egipto, eran dos: todas las personas de la casa de Jacob que vinieron a Egipto, eran setenta. Encuentro de Jacob y José

And the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, were two persons. All the persons of the house of Jacob, who came into Egypt, were seventy.

28 Y Jacob envió a Judá delante de sí a José, para indicar delante de él el camino a Gosén; y llegaron a la tierra de Gosén.

And he sent Judah before him to Joseph, to direct him to Goshen and meet him there; and they came into the land of Goshen.

29 Y José unció su carro y subió a Gosén para ir al encuentro de su padre Israel; y apenas lo vio, se echó sobre su cuello y lloró largamente sobre su cuello.

Then Joseph made ready his chariot and went up to meet Israel his father in Goshen; and he presented himself and gave distinct evidence of himself to him, and fell on the neck and wept on his neck a good while.

30 E ntonces Israel dijo a José: Ahora ya puedo morir, después que he visto tu rostro y sé que todavía vives.

And Israel said to Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen your face that you are still alive.

31 Y José dijo a sus hermanos y a la familia de su padre: Subiré y lo haré saber a Faraón, y le diré: “Mis hermanos y la familia de mi padre, que estaban en la tierra de Canaán, han venido a mí;

Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, I will go up and tell Pharaoh and say to him, My brothers and my father’s household, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me.

32 y los hombres son pastores de ovejas, pues son hombres de ganado; y han traído sus ovejas y sus vacas, y todo lo que tienen.”

And the men are shepherds, for their occupation has been keeping livestock, and they have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.

33 Y sucederá que cuando Faraón os llame y os diga: “¿Cuál es vuestra ocupación ?”,

When Pharaoh calls you and says, What is your occupation?

34 v osotros responderéis: “Tus siervos han sido hombres de ganado desde su juventud hasta ahora, tanto nosotros como nuestros padres ”, a fin de que habitéis en la tierra de Gosén; porque para los egipcios todo pastor de ovejas es una abominación.

You shall say, Your servants’ occupation has been as keepers of livestock from our youth until now, both we and our fathers before us—in order that you may live in the land of Goshen, for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.
