1 ف َشَرَعَ إسْرائِيلُ فِي رِحلَتِهِ آخِذاً مَعَهُ كُلَّ ما لَهُ. وَوَصَلَ إلَى بِئْرِ السَّبْعِ. وَهُناكَ قَدَّمَ ذَبائِحَ لإلَهِ أبِيهِ إسْحاقَ.

So Israel made his journey with all that he had and came to Beersheba and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.

2 و َفِي تِلْكَ اللَّيلَةِ كَلَّمَ اللهُ إسْرائِيلَ فِي حُلْمٍ فَقالَ لَهُ: «يَعقُوبُ، يَعْقُوبُ.» فَقالَ يَعقُوبُ: «سَمْعاً وَطاعَةً.»

And God spoke to Israel in visions of the night, and said, Jacob! Jacob! And he said, Here am I.

3 ف َقالَ: «أنا اللهُ، إلَهُ أبِيكَ. لا تَخْشَ النُّزُولَ إلَى مِصْرَ، فَأنا سَأجعَلُكَ أُمَّةً عَظِيمَةً هُناكَ.

And He said, I am God, the God of your father; do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will there make of you a great nation.

4 س َأنزِلُ إلَى مِصْرَ مَعَكَ. وَسَأُعِيدُكَ مِنْ هُناكَ. وَسَيُغلِقُ ابْنُكَ يُوسُفُ عَينَيكَ حَينَ تَمُوتُ.» إسْرائيلُ يَذهبُ إلى مِصر

I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely bring you up again; and Joseph will put his hand upon your eyes.

5 ف َغادَرَ يَعقُوبُ بِئْرَ السَّبْعِ. وَحَمَلَ أولادُ إسْرائِيلَ أباهُمْ يَعقُوبَ وَأبْناءَهُمْ وَزَوْجاتِهِمْ عَلَى العَرَباتِ الَّتِي كانَ فِرعَوْنُ قَدْ أرسَلَها لِتَحمِلَهُم.

So Jacob arose and set out from Beersheba, and Israel’s sons conveyed their father, their little ones, and their wives in the wagons that Pharaoh had sent to carry him.

6 ف َأخَذُوا مَواشِيَهُمْ وَكُلَّ مُقْتَنَياتِهِمِ الَّتِي اقتَنُوها فِي أرْضِ كَنْعانَ. وَذَهَبَ يَعْقُوبُ وَكُلُّ نَسلِهِ مَعَهُ إلَى مِصْرَ.

And they took their cattle and the gains which they had acquired in the land of Canaan and came into Egypt, Jacob and all his offspring with him:

7 أ خَذَ يَعقُوبُ مَعَهُ إلَى مِصْرَ أولادَهُ وَأحفادَهُ، وَبَناتِهِ وَحَفِيداتِهِ، وَكُلَّ نَسلِهِ. عائلةُ إسْرائيل

His sons and his sons’ sons with him, his daughters and his sons’ daughters—all his offspring he brought with him into Egypt.

8 ه َذِهِ هِيَ أسْماءُ أبناءِ إسْرائِيلَ الَّذِينَ دَخَلُوا مِصْرَ، يَعقُوبُ وَبَنُوهُ: رَأُوبَيْنُ، وَكانَ بِكْرَ يَعقُوبَ.

And these are the names of the descendants of Israel who came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn.

9 أ مّا أبْناءُ رَأُوبَيْنَ فَهُمْ حَنُوكُ وَفَلُّو وَحَصْرُونُ وَكَرْمِي.

And the sons of Reuben: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

10 و َأبْناءُ شِمْعُونَ هُمْ يَمُوئِيلُ وَيامِينُ وَأُوهَدُ وَياكِينُ وَصُوحَرُ وَشَاوُلُ ابْنُ الكَنعانِيَّةِ.

The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman.

11 و َأبْناءُ لاوِي هُمْ جَرْشُونُ وَقَهاتُ وَمَرارِي.

The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

12 و َأبْناءُ يَهُوذا هُمْ: عِيرُ وَأُونانُ وَشِيلَةُ وَفارَصُ وَزارِحُ. وَماتَ عِيرُ وَأُونانُ فِي أرْضِ كِنْعانَ. وَأبْناءُ فارَصَ هُمْ حَصْرُونُ وَحامُولُ.

The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah; but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.

13 و َأبْناءُ يَسّاكَرَ هُمْ تُولاعُ وَفَوَّةُ وَيُوبُ وَشِمْرُونُ.

The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puvah, Iob, and Shimron.

14 و َأبْناءُ زَبُولُونَ هُمْ سادَرُ وَإيلُونُ وَياحَلْئِيلُ.

The sons of Zebulun: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel.

15 ه َؤُلاءِ هُمْ أبْناءُ لَيئَةَ الَّذِينَ أنجَبَتْهُمْ لِيَعقُوبَ فِي فَدَّانَ أرامَ. بِالإضافَةِ إلَى دِينَةَ، ابْنَةِ يَعقُوبَ. وَكانَ عَدَدُ هَذا الجُزْءِ مِنَ العائِلَةِ ثَلاثَةً وَثَلاثِينَ فَرداً.

These are the sons of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob in Padan-aram, together with his daughter Dinah. All of his sons and his daughters numbered thirty-three.

16 و َأبْناءُ جادَ فَهُمْ صِفْيُونُ وَحَجِّي وَشُونِي وَأصْبُونُ وَعِيرِي وَأرُودِي وَأرْئِيلِي.

The sons of Gad: Ziphion, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli.

17 و َأبْناءُ أشِيرَ هُمْ يَمْنَةُ وَيَشْوَةُ وَيِشْوِي وَبَرِيعَةُ، وَأُختُهُمْ سارَحُ. وَابْنا بَرِيعَةَ هُما حابِرُ وَمَلْكِيئِيلُ.

The sons of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, Beriah, and Serah their sister. And the sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel.

18 ه َؤُلاءِ هُمْ أولادُ زِلْفَةَ. وَكانَ لابانُ قَدْ أعطاها لِلَيئَةَ. فَأنجَبَتْ زِلْفَةُ هَؤُلاءِ الأبْناءَ لِيَعقُوبَ. وَكانَ مَجمُوعُ هَذا الجُزْءِ مِنَ العائِلَةِ سِتَّةَ عَشَرَ فَرداً.

These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter. And these she bore to Jacob—sixteen persons all told.

19 و َأمّا ابْنا راحِيلَ فَهُما يُوسُفُ وَبَنْيامِيْنُ.

The sons of Rachel, Jacob’s wife: Joseph and Benjamin.

20 و َوُلِدَ مَنَسَّى وَأفْرايِمُ لِيُوسُفَ فِي أرْضِ مِصْرَ مِنْ زَوجَتِهِ أسْناتَ بِنتِ فِوْطِي فارَعَ كاهِنِ مَدِينَةِ أُونَ.

And to Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On, bore to him.

21 و َأبناءُ بَنْيامِيْنَ هُمْ بالَعُ وَباكَرُ وَأشْبِيلُ وَجِيرا وَنُعمانُ وَإيحِي وَرُوشُ وَمُفِّيمُ وَحُفِّيمُ وَأرْدٌ.

And the sons of Benjamin: Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard.

22 ه َؤُلاءِ هُمْ أولادُ راحِيلَ الَّذِينَ أنجَبَتْهُمْ لِيَعقُوبَ. وَكانَ عَدَدُ هَذا الجُزْءِ مِنَ العائِلَةِ أرْبَعَةَ عَشَرَ فَرداً.

These are the sons of Rachel, who were born to Jacob—fourteen persons in all.

23 و َابْنُ دانَ هُوَ حُوشِيمُ.

The son of Dan: Hushim.

24 و َأمّا أبْناءُ نَفْتالِي هُمْ ياحَصْئِيلُ وَجُونِي وَبِصْرُ وَشِلِّيمُ.

The sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem.

25 ه َؤُلاءِ هُمْ أولادُ بِلْهَةَ. وَكانَ لابانُ قَدْ أعطَى بِلْهَةَ لابْنَتِهِ راحِيلَ. فَوَلَدَتْ بِلْهَةُ هَؤُلاءِ الأبْناءَ لِيَعْقُوبَ. فَمَجمُوعُ هَذا الجُزْءِ مِنَ العائِلَةِ سَبْعَةَ أفْرادٍ.

These are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to Rachel his daughter. And she bore these to Jacob—seven persons in all.

26 ف َكانَ مَجمُوعُ الَّذِينَ ذَهَبُوا إلَى مِصْرَ مَعَ يَعْقُوبَ مِنْ نَسلِهِ سِتَّةً وَسِتِّينَ فَرداً. وَلا يَشْمُلُ هَذا العَدَدُ زَوْجاتِ أولادِ يَعْقُوبَ.

All the persons who came with Jacob into Egypt—who were his own offspring, not counting the wives of Jacob’s sons—were sixty-six persons all told.

27 و َهُناكَ أيضاً ابْنا يُوسُفَ اللَّذانِ أنجَبَهُما فِي مِصْرَ. فَكانَ مَجمُوعُ الأفْرادِ فِي بَيتِ يَعقُوبَ الَّذِينَ ذَهَبُوا إلَى مِصْرَ سَبْعِينَ فَرداً. وصولُ إسْرائيلَ إلى مِصْر

And the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, were two persons. All the persons of the house of Jacob, who came into Egypt, were seventy.

28 و َأرْسَلَ يَعقُوبُ يَهُوذا قَبلَهُ إلَى يُوسُفَ لِكَي يَدُلَّهُ عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ إلَى جاسانَ. فَوَصَلُوا إلَى أرْضِ جاسانَ.

And he sent Judah before him to Joseph, to direct him to Goshen and meet him there; and they came into the land of Goshen.

29 ف َجَهَّزَ يُوسُفُ عَرَبَتَهُ وَصَعِدَ إلَى جاسانَ لِمُلاقاةِ أبِيهِ إسْرائِيلَ. وَعانَقَهُ وَبَكَى عَلَى كَتِفِهِ مُدَّةً طَوِيلَةً.

Then Joseph made ready his chariot and went up to meet Israel his father in Goshen; and he presented himself and gave distinct evidence of himself to him, and fell on the neck and wept on his neck a good while.

30 ث ُمَّ قالَ يَعقُوبُ لِيُوسُفَ: «أنا الآنَ مُسْتَعِدٌّ أنْ أمُوتَ، حَيثُ إنِّي رَأيتُكَ بِنَفسِي وَتَأكَّدْتُ مِنْ أنَّكَ ما زِلْتَ حَيّاً.»

And Israel said to Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen your face that you are still alive.

31 ف َقالَ يُوسُفُ لإخْوَتِهِ وَلِكُلِّ بَيتِ أبِيهِ: «سَأصْعَدُ لِأُكَلِّمَ فِرعَوْنَ. وَسَأقُولُ لَهُ: ‹لَقَدْ جاءَ إلَيَّ إخْوَتِي وَبَيتُ أبِي مِنْ أرْضِ كَنْعانَ.

Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, I will go up and tell Pharaoh and say to him, My brothers and my father’s household, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me.

32 و َرِجالُهُمْ رُعاةٌ، فَهُمْ يُرَبُّونَ مَواشِيَ. وَقَدْ جَلَبُوا مَعَهُمْ قُطعانَ غَنَمِهِمْ وَبَقَرِهِمْ وَكُلِّ ما يَملِكُونَ.›

And the men are shepherds, for their occupation has been keeping livestock, and they have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.

33 ف َحِينَ يَسْتَدْعِيكُمْ فِرعَوْنُ وَيَسْألُكُمْ: ‹ما هُوَ عَمَلُكُمْ؟›

When Pharaoh calls you and says, What is your occupation?

34 ق ُولُوا لَهُ: ‹كُنّا، نَحْنُ خُدّامَكَ، نُرَبِّي المَواشِيَ مُنذُ صِغَرِنا إلَى الآنَ، أباً عَنْ جَدٍّ.› قُولُوا هَذا لِكَي تَسْكُنُوا فِي أرْضِ جاسانَ. فَكُلُّ راعٍ مَكرُوهٌ فِي مِصْرَ.»

You shall say, Your servants’ occupation has been as keepers of livestock from our youth until now, both we and our fathers before us—in order that you may live in the land of Goshen, for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.
