1 و َوَقَفَ التِّنِّيْنُ عَلَى شاطِئِ البَحرِ. ثُمَّ رَأيتُ وَحشاً يَصْعَدُ مِنَ البَحرِ. لَهُ عَشْرَةُ قُرُونٍ وَسَبعَةُ رُؤُوسٍ، وَعَلَى قُرُونِهِ عَشرَةُ تِيجانٍ، وَأسماءٌ شِرِّيرَةٌ عَلَى رُؤُوسِهِ.

I stood on the sandy beach, I saw a beast coming up out of the sea with ten horns and seven heads. On his horns he had ten royal crowns (diadems) and blasphemous titles (names) on his heads.

2 ا لوَحشُ الَّذِي رَأيتُهُ كانَ يُشبِهُ النَّمِرَ. أقدامُهُ كَأقدامِ الدُّبِّ، وَفَمُهُ كَفَمِ الأسَدِ. التِّنِّينُ مَنَحَهُ قُوَّتَهُ وَعَرشَهُ وَسُلطانَهُ العَظِيمَ.

And the beast that I saw resembled a leopard, but his feet were like those of a bear and his mouth was like that of a lion. And to him the dragon gave his might and power and his throne and great dominion.

3 و َبَدا أحَدُ رُؤُوسِهِ كَأنَّهُ قَدْ جُرِحَ جُرحاً مُمِيتاً، لَكِنَّ جُرحَهُ كانَ قَدْ شُفِيَ. العالَمُ كُلُّهُ كانَ مَذهولاً بِهَذا الوَحشِ،

And one of his heads seemed to have a deadly wound. But his death stroke was healed; and the whole earth went after the beast in amazement and admiration.

4 ف َسَجَدُوا لِلتِّنِّيْنِ لِأنَّهُ مَنَحَ سُلطانَهُ لِلوَحشِ، كَما سَجَدُوا لِلوَحشِ وَقالُوا: «مَنْ يُشبِهُ الوَحشَ، وَمَنْ ذا الَّذِي يَستَطِيعُ أنْ يُقاتِلَهُ؟»

They fell down and paid homage to the dragon, because he had bestowed on the beast all his dominion and authority; they also praised and worshiped the beast, exclaiming, Who is a match for the beast, and, Who can make war against him?

5 و َكانَ قَدْ سُمِحَ لِلوَحشِ بِأنْ يَتَكَلَّمَ بِكَلامٍ مُتَغَطرِسٍ وَإهاناتٍ ضِدَّ اللهِ. وَكانَ قَدْ أُعطِيَ سُلطاناً لِأنْ يَستَعمِلَ قُوَّتَهُ لاثنَينِ وَأربَعِينَ شَهراً.

And the beast was given the power of speech, uttering boastful and blasphemous words, and he was given freedom to exert his authority and to exercise his will during forty-two months (three and a half years).

6 ف َبَدَأ يَتَلَفَّظُ بِإهاناتٍ، مُهِيناً اسْمَ اللهِ وَمَسكَنَهُ وَالَّذِينَ يَسكُنُونَ فِي السَّماءِ.

And he opened his mouth to speak slanders against God, blaspheming His name and His abode, those who live in heaven.

7 ك َما أُعطِيَ سُلطاناً أنْ يُقاتِلَ المُؤمنينَ المُقَدَّسينَ وَيَهزِمَهُمْ، وَسُلطاناً عَلَى كُلِّ عَشِيرَةٍ وَشَعبٍ وَلُغَةٍ وَأُمَّةٍ.

He was further permitted to wage war on God’s holy people (the saints) and to overcome them. And power was given him to extend his authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation,

8 و َهَكَذا سَيَعبُدُهُ جَمِيعُ سُكّانِ الأرْضِ، كُلُّ الَّذِينَ عاشوا مُنذُ بِدايَةِ العالَمِ وَلَمْ تُكْتَبْ أسماؤهُمْ فِي كِتابِ حَياةِ الحَمَلِ الَّذِي ذُبِحَ.

And all the inhabitants of the earth will fall down in adoration and pay him homage, everyone whose name has not been recorded in the Book of Life of the Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world.

9 م َنْ لَهُ أُذُنٌ فَليَسمَعْ:

If anyone is able to hear, let him listen:

10 « مَنْ يَنبَغِي أنْ يُسبَى، فَإلَى السَّبيِ يَذهَبُ. وَمَنْ يَنبَغِي أنْ يُقتَلَ بِالسَّيفِ، فَبِالسَّيفِ يَنبَغِي أنْ يُقتَلَ.» هُنا يُطلَبُ الصَّبرُ وَالإيمانُ مِنَ المُؤمنينَ المُقَدَّسينَ.

Whoever leads into captivity will himself go into captivity; if anyone slays with the sword, with the sword must he be slain. Herein is the patience and the faith and fidelity of the saints (God’s people).

11 ث ُمَّ رَأيتُ وَحشاً آخَرَ يَخرُجُ مِنَ الأرْضِ. كانَ لَدَيهِ قَرنانِ كَقَرنَيِّ الحَمَلِ، لَكِنَّهُ تَكَلَّمَ مِثلَ تِنِّينٍ.

Then I saw another beast rising up out of the land; he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke (roared) like a dragon.

12 و َقَدْ مارَسَ كُلَّ سُلطانِ الوَحشِ الأوَّلِ بِوُجُودِ التَّنِّينِ، فَجَعَلَ الأرْضَ وَمَنْ عاشَ عَلَيها يَعبُدُونَ الوَحشَ الأوَّلَ الَّذِي شُفِيَ جُرحُهُ المُمِيتُ.

He exerts all the power and right of control of the former beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell upon it to exalt and deify the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed, and to worship him.

13 و َصَنَعَ الوَحشُ الثّانِي مُعجِزاتٍ كَثِيرَةً، حَتَّى إنَّهُ أنزَلَ ناراً مِنَ السَّماءِ إلَى الأرْضِ أمامَ عُيُونِ النّاسِ.

He performs great signs (startling miracles), even making fire fall from the sky to the earth in men’s sight.

14 و َبَدَأ يُضَلِّلُ الَّذِينَ يَعِيشُونَ عَلَى الأرْضِ، بِسَبَبِ العَجائِبِ الَّتِي سُمِحَ لَهُ بِأنْ يَعمَلَها أمامَ الوَحشِ الأوَّلِ، آمِراً سُكّانَ الأرْضِ بِأنْ يَصنَعُوا تِمثالاً لِتَكرِيمِ الوَحشِ الأوَّلِ الَّذِي جَرَحَهُ السَّيفُ لَكِنَّهُ عاشَ!

And because of the signs (miracles) which he is allowed to perform in the presence of the beast, he deceives those who inhabit the earth, commanding them to erect a statue (an image) in the likeness of the beast who was wounded by the sword and still lived.

15 و َقدْ أُعطِيَ الوَحشُ الثّانِي القُدرَةَ لِأنْ يَمنَحَ الحَياةَ لِتِمثالِ الوَحشِ الأوَّلِ، حَتَّى إنَّ التِمثالَ يَنطِقُ، وَيَستَطِيعُ أنْ يَجعَلَ جَمِيعَ الَّذِينَ لا يَعبُدُونَ التِّمثالَ يُقتَلُونَ.

And he is permitted to impart the breath of life into the beast’s image, so that the statue of the beast could actually talk and cause to be put to death those who would not bow down and worship the image of the beast.

16 و َأنْ يَأمُرَ جَمِيعَ النّاسِ صِغاراً وَكِباراً، أغنِياءَ وَفُقَراءَ، أحراراً وَعَبِيداً بِأنْ يَقبَلُوا عَلامَةً عَلَى أيدِيهِمُ اليُمنَى أوْ عَلَى جِباهِهِمْ،

Also he compels all, both small and great, both the rich and the poor, both free and slave, to be marked with an inscription '> stamped] on their right hands or on their foreheads,

17 ف َلا يَستَطِيعُ أحَدٌ أنْ يَشتَرِيَ أوْ يَبِيعَ إنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ لَدَيهِ تِلكَ العَلامَةُ، الَّتِي هِيَ اسْمُ الوَحشِ، أوِ الرَّقَمُ الَّذِي يُوافِقُ اسْمَهُ.

So that no one will have power to buy or sell unless he bears the stamp (mark, inscription), the name of the beast or the number of his name.

18 ه ُنا الحاجَةُ إلَى الحِكْمَةِ: مَنْ لَدَيهِ الذَّكاءُ فَلْيَحسِبْ رَقَمَ الوَحشِ، لِأنَّ الرَّقَمَ يُمَثِّلُ اسْمَ إنسانٍ. وَرَقَمُهُ هُوَ سِتُّ مِئَةٍ وَسِتَّةٌ وَسِتُّونَ!

Here is discernment '> of interpretation]. Let anyone who has intelligence (penetration and insight enough) calculate the number of the beast, for it is a human number; his number is 666.
