1 S i has de volver, oh Israel —declara el Señor — vuélvete a mí. Si quitas de mi presencia tus abominaciones, y no vacilas,

If you will return, O Israel, says the Lord, if you will return to Me, and if you will put away your abominable false gods out of My sight and not stray or waver,

2 y juras: “Vive el Señor ”, en verdad, en juicio y en justicia, entonces se bendecirán en El las naciones, y en El se gloriarán.

And if you swear, As the Lord lives, in truth, in judgment and justice, and in righteousness (uprightness in every area and relation), then the nations will bless themselves in Him and in Him will they glory.

3 P orque así dice el Señor a los hombres de Judá y de Jerusalén: Romped el barbecho, y no sembréis entre espinos.

For thus says the Lord to the men of Judah and to Jerusalem: Break up your ground left uncultivated for a season, so that you may not sow among thorns.

4 C ircuncidaos para el Señor, y quitad los prepucios de vuestros corazones, hombres de Judá y habitantes de Jerusalén, no sea que mi furor salga como fuego y arda y no haya quien lo apague, a causa de la maldad de vuestras obras.

Circumcise yourselves to the Lord and take away the foreskins of your hearts, you men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, lest My wrath go forth like fire and burn so that no one can quench it because of the evil of your doings.

5 D eclarad en Judá y proclamad en Jerusalén, y decid: Tocad la trompeta en la tierra; clamad en alta voz, y decid: “Reuníos y entremos en las ciudades fortificadas.”

Declare in Judah and publish in Jerusalem and say: Blow the trumpet in the land; cry aloud and say: Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the fortified cities.

6 I zad bandera hacia Sion; buscad refugio, no os detengáis; porque traigo del norte la calamidad, una gran destrucción.

Raise a standard toward Zion! Flee for safety, stay not, for I bring evil from the north, and great destruction.

7 H a salido el león de la espesura, y el destructor de naciones se ha puesto en marcha; ha salido de su lugar para convertir tu tierra en desolación. Tus ciudades quedarán en ruinas, sin habitantes.

A lion has gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations is on his way. He has gone forth from his place to make your land a desolate waste; and your cities shall be left in ruins without an inhabitant.

8 P or eso, vestíos de cilicio, lamentaos y gemid; porque no se ha apartado de nosotros la ardiente ira del Señor.

For this, gird yourselves with sackcloth, lament and wail, for the fierce anger of the Lord has not turned back from us.

9 Y sucederá en aquel día —declara el Señor — que fallará el corazón del rey y el corazón de los príncipes; se quedarán atónitos los sacerdotes y los profetas se pasmarán.

And it shall be in that day, says the Lord, that the understanding and courage of the king shall fail (be paralyzed), and also that of the princes; the priests shall be appalled and the prophets astounded and dazed with horror.

10 E ntonces dije: ¡Ah, Señor Dios! Ciertamente has engañado en gran manera a este pueblo y a Jerusalén, diciendo: “Paz tendréis”, cuando tienen la espada al cuello.

Then I said, Alas, Lord God! Surely You have greatly deceived and misled this people and Jerusalem, saying, You shall have peace, whereas the sword has reached to life.

11 E n aquel tiempo se dirá a este pueblo y a Jerusalén: Un viento abrasador de las alturas desoladas del desierto, en dirección a la hija de mi pueblo, no para aventar, ni para limpiar,

At that time it will be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A hot wind from the bare heights in the wilderness against the daughter of My people—not to fan or cleanse

12 u n viento demasiado fuerte para esto, vendrá a mi mandato. Ahora yo pronunciaré juicios contra ellos.

A wind too strong and full for winnowing comes at My word. Now I will also speak in judgment against.

13 H e aquí que él sube como las nubes, y como un torbellino sus carros; sus caballos son más ligeros que las águilas. ¡Ay de nosotros, porque estamos perdidos!

Behold, comes up like clouds, his chariots like the whirlwind; his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us, for we are ruined (destroyed)!

14 L ava de maldad tu corazón, Jerusalén, para que seas salva. ¿Hasta cuándo morarán dentro de ti pensamientos perversos ?

O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved! How long shall your iniquitous and grossly offensive thoughts lodge within you?

15 P orque una voz lo anuncia desde Dan, y proclama el mal desde los montes de Efraín.

For a voice declares from Dan and proclaims evil from Mount Ephraim.

16 A visad lo a las naciones: ¡Aquí están! Proclamad sobre Jerusalén: “Sitiadores vienen de tierra lejana y alzan sus voces contra las ciudades de Judá.

Warn the nations; announce to Jerusalem that besiegers are coming from a far country, and they shout against the cities of Judah.

17 “ Como guardas de campo están apostados contra ella por todos lados, porque se ha rebelado contra mí ” —declara el Señor.

Like keepers of a field they are against her round about, because she has been rebellious against Me, says the Lord.

18 T u comportamiento y tus acciones te han traído estas cosas. Esta es tu maldad. ¡Qué amarga! ¡Cómo ha penetrado hasta tu corazón!

Your ways and your doings have brought these things upon you. This is your calamity and doom; surely it is bitter, for surely it reaches your very heart!

19 ¡ Alma mía, alma mía! Estoy angustiado, ¡oh corazón mío! Mi corazón se agita dentro de mí; no callaré, porque has oído, alma mía, el sonido de la trompeta, el pregón de guerra.

My anguish, my anguish! I writhe in pain! Oh, the walls of my heart! My heart is disquieted and throbs aloud within me; I cannot be silent! For I have heard the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.

20 D esastre sobre desastre se anuncia, porque es arrasada toda la tierra; de repente son arrasadas mis tiendas, en un instante mis cortinas.

News of one violent disaster and calamity comes close after another, for the whole land is laid waste; suddenly are my tents spoiled and destroyed, and my curtains ruined in a moment.

21 ¿ Hasta cuándo he de ver la bandera y he de oír el sonido de la trompeta?

how long must I see the flag and hear the sound of the trumpet ?

22 P orque mi pueblo es necio, no me conoce; hijos torpes son, no son inteligentes. Astutos son para hacer el mal, pero hacer el bien no saben.

for My people are stupid, says the Lord; they do not know and understand Me. They are thickheaded children, and they have no understanding. They are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

23 M iré a la tierra, y he aquí que estaba sin orden y vacía; y a los cielos, y no tenían luz.

I looked at the land, and behold, it was waste and vacant (void); and at the heavens, and they had no light.

24 M iré a los montes, y he aquí que temblaban, y todas las colinas se estremecían.

I looked at the mountains, and behold, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly to and fro.

25 M iré, y he aquí que no había hombre alguno, y todas las aves del cielo habían huido.

I looked, and behold, there was no man, and all the birds of the air had fled.

26 M iré, y he aquí que la tierra fértil era un desierto, y todas sus ciudades estaban arrasadas delante del Señor, delante del ardor de su ira.

I looked, and behold, the fruitful land was a desert, and all its cities were laid waste before the Lord’s presence, before His fierce anger.

27 P orque así dice el Señor: Una desolación será toda la tierra, pero no causaré una destrucción total.

For thus says the Lord: The whole land will be a desolation, yet I will not make a full and complete end of it.

28 P or eso se enlutará la tierra, y se oscurecerán los cielos arriba, porque he hablado, lo he decidido, y no me arrepentiré, ni me retractaré de ello.

For this will the earth mourn and the heavens above be black; because I have spoken, I have purposed, and I will not relent, nor will I turn back.

29 A l ruido de jinetes y arqueros huye toda la ciudad; entran en las espesuras y trepan por los peñascos. Toda ciudad está abandonada, y no queda en ellas morador alguno.

Every city flees because of the noise of the horsemen and bowmen. They go into the thickets and climb among the rocks; every city is forsaken, and not a man dwells in them.

30 Y tú, desolada, ¿qué harás ? Aunque te vistas de escarlata, aunque te pongas adornos de oro, aunque te agrandes con pintura los ojos, en vano te embelleces; te desprecian tus amantes, sólo buscan tu vida.

And you, when you are made desolate, what will you do? Though you clothe yourself with scarlet, though you deck yourself with ornaments of gold, though you paint your eyelids and make them look farther apart, in vain you beautify yourself. Your lovers (allies) despise you; they seek your life.

31 P orque oí un grito como de mujer de parto, angustia como de primeriza; era el grito de la hija de Sion que se ahogaba, y extendía sus manos, diciendo: ¡Ay ahora de mí, porque desfallezco ante los asesinos!

For I have heard a cry as of a woman in travail, the anguish as of one who brings forth her first child—the cry of the Daughter of Zion, who gasps for breath, who spreads her hands, saying, Woe is me now! I am fainting before the murderers.
