1 J osafat tenía grandes riquezas y gloria; se emparentó con Acab,

Now Jehoshaphat had great riches and honor, but was allied with Ahab.

2 y algunos años después descendió a Samaria para visitar a Acab. Y Acab mató muchas ovejas y bueyes para él y para el pueblo que estaba con él, y lo persuadió a que subiera contra Ramot de Galaad.

After some years he went down to Ahab in Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance and for the people with him and persuaded him to go up with him against Ramoth-gilead.

3 Y Acab, rey de Israel, dijo a Josafat, rey de Judá: ¿Irás conmigo contra Ramot de Galaad? Y él le respondió: Yo soy como tú, y mi pueblo como tu pueblo; estaremos contigo en la batalla.

Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Will you go with me to Ramoth-gilead? He answered, I am as you are, and my people as your people; we will be with you in the war.

4 D ijo además Josafat al rey de Israel: Te ruego que primero consultes la palabra del Señor.

And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, Inquire first, I pray you, for the word of the Lord today.

5 E ntonces el rey de Israel reunió a los profetas, cuatrocientos hombres, y les dijo: ¿Iremos a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad, o debo desistir? Y ellos dijeron: Sube, porque Dios la entregará en mano del rey.

So King of Israel gathered together the prophets, 400 men, and said to them, Shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up, for God will deliver it into the king’s hand.

6 P ero Josafat dijo: ¿No queda aún aquí algún profeta del Señor para que le consultemos?

But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not another prophet of the Lord here by whom we may inquire?

7 Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: Todavía queda un hombre por medio de quien podemos consultar al Señor, pero lo aborrezco, porque nunca profetiza lo bueno en cuanto a mí, sino siempre lo malo. Es Micaías, hijo de Imla. Pero Josafat dijo: No hable el rey así.

King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is another man, Micaiah son of Imla, by whom we may inquire of the Lord, but I hate him, for he never has prophesied good for me, but always evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

8 E ntonces el rey de Israel llamó a un oficial, y le dijo: Trae pronto a Micaías, hijo de Imla.

And King of Israel called for one of his officers and said, Bring quickly Micaiah son of Imla.

9 E l rey de Israel y Josafat, rey de Judá, estaban sentados cada uno en su trono, vestidos con sus mantos, en la era a la entrada de la puerta de Samaria; y todos los profetas estaban profetizando delante de ellos.

The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah sat each on his throne, arrayed in their robes; they were sitting in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; all the prophets were prophesying before them.

10 Y Sedequías, hijo de Quenaana, se había hecho cuernos de hierro y decía: Así dice el Señor: “Con éstos acornearás a los arameos hasta acabarlos.”

And Zedekiah son of Chenaanah had made himself horns of iron, and said, Thus says the Lord: With these you shall push the Syrians until they are destroyed.

11 Y todos los profetas profetizaban así, diciendo: Sube a Ramot de Galaad y tendrás éxito, pues el Señor la entregará en manos del rey.

All the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead and prosper; the Lord will deliver it into the king’s hand.

12 Y el mensajero que fue a llamar a Micaías le habló, diciendo: He aquí, las palabras de los profetas son unánimes en favor del rey. Por esto te ruego que tu palabra sea como la de uno de ellos, y hables favorablemente.

The messenger who went to call Micaiah said to him, Behold, the words of the prophets foretell good to the king with one accord. So let your word be like one of them, and speak favorably.

13 P ero Micaías dijo: Vive el Señor, que lo que mi Dios me diga, eso hablaré.

But Micaiah said, As the Lord lives, what my God says, that will I speak.

14 Y cuando llegó al rey, el rey le dijo: Micaías, ¿iremos a Ramot de Galaad a pelear, o debo desistir? El respondió: Sube y tendrás éxito, porque serán entregados en tu mano.

And when he had come to the king, King said to him, Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And he said, Go up and prosper, and they shall be delivered into your hand.

15 E ntonces el rey le dijo: ¿Cuántas veces he de tomarte juramento de que no me digas más que la verdad en el nombre del Señor ?

And the king said to him, How many times shall I warn you to tell nothing but the truth to me in the name of the Lord?

16 Y él respondió: Vi a todo Israel esparcido por los montes, como ovejas sin pastor; y el Señor dijo: “Estos no tienen señor; que cada uno vuelva a su casa en paz.”

Then Micaiah said, I did see all Israel scattered upon the mountains as sheep that have no shepherd, and the Lord said, These have no master. Let each return to his house in peace.

17 Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: ¿No te dije que no profetizaría lo bueno acerca de mí, sino lo malo?

And King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good to me, but evil?

18 R espondió Micaías: Por tanto, escuchad la palabra del Señor. Yo vi al Señor sentado en su trono, y todo el ejército de los cielos estaba a su derecha y a su izquierda.

said, Therefore hear the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing at His right hand and His left.

19 Y el Señor dijo: “¿Quién inducirá a Acab, rey de Israel, para que suba y caiga en Ramot de Galaad?” Y uno decía de una manera, y otro de otra.

And the Lord said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one said this thing, and another that.

20 E ntonces se adelantó un espíritu y se puso delante del Señor, y dijo: “Yo lo induciré.” Y el Señor le dijo: “¿Cómo?”

Then there came a spirit and stood before the Lord and said, I will entice him. The Lord said to him, By what means?

21 Y él respondió: “Saldré y seré un espíritu de mentira en boca de todos sus profetas.” Entonces El dijo: “ Lo inducirás y también prevalecerás. Ve y hazlo así.”

And he said, I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets. And the Lord said, You shall entice him and also succeed. Go forth and do so.

22 Y ahora, he aquí, el Señor ha puesto un espíritu de mentira en boca de estos tus profetas, pues el Señor ha decretado el mal contra ti.

Now, you see, the Lord put a lying spirit in the mouths of your prophets; and the Lord has spoken evil concerning you.

23 E ntonces se acercó Sedequías, hijo de Quenaana, y golpeó a Micaías en la mejilla, y dijo: ¿Cómo pasó el Espíritu del Señor de mí para hablarte a ti?

Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and smote Micaiah upon the cheek and said, Which way went the Spirit of the Lord from me to speak to you?

24 R espondió Micaías: He aquí, tú lo verás aquél día en que entres en un aposento interior para esconderte.

And Micaiah said, Behold, you shall see on that day when you shall go into an inner chamber to hide yourself.

25 Y el rey de Israel dijo: Tomad a Micaías y devolvedlo a Amón, gobernador de la ciudad, y a Joás, hijo del rey;

Then King of Israel said, Take Micaiah back to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king’s son,

26 y decid: “Así dice el rey: ‘Echad a éste en la cárcel, y alimentadlo con poco pan y poca agua hasta que yo vuelva en paz.’”

And say, Thus says the king: Put this fellow in prison and feed him with bread and water of affliction until I return in peace.

27 Y Micaías dijo: Si en verdad vuelves en paz, el Señor no ha hablado por mí. Y añadió: Oíd, pueblos todos.

Micaiah said, If you return at all in peace, the Lord has not spoken by me. And he, Hear it, you people, all of you!

28 Y subió el rey de Israel con Josafat, rey de Judá, contra Ramot de Galaad.

So Ahab king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.

29 Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: Yo me disfrazaré para entrar en la batalla, pero tú ponte tus ropas reales. Y el rey de Israel se disfrazó y entraron en la batalla.

And king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself and will go to the battle, but you put on your royal robes. So King Ahab of Israel disguised himself, and they went into the battle.

30 P ero el rey de Aram había ordenado a los capitanes de sus carros, diciendo: No peleéis contra chico ni contra grande, sino sólo contra el rey de Israel.

Now Syria’s king had commanded his chariot captains, Fight not with small or great, but only with the king of Israel.

31 Y sucedió que cuando los capitanes de los carros vieron a Josafat, dijeron: Este es el rey de Israel; y se desviaron para pelear contra él. Pero Josafat clamó, y el Señor vino en su ayuda, y Dios los apartó de él,

And when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, It is the king of Israel. So they turned to fight against him, but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.

32 p ues al ver los capitanes de los carros que no era el rey de Israel, dejaron de perseguirlo.

For when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.

33 Y un hombre disparó su arco al azar e hirió al rey de Israel por entre la juntura de la armadura. Y él dijo al cochero: Da la vuelta y sácame de la batalla pues estoy gravemente herido.

A certain man drew his bow at a venture and smote King of Israel between the lower armor and the breastplate. So Ahab said to his chariot driver, Turn, carry me out of the battle, for I am wounded.

34 P ero la batalla arreció aquel día, y el rey de Israel fue sostenido en el carro frente a los arameos hasta la tarde; y murió al ponerse el sol.

And the battle increased that day; however, King of Israel propped himself up in his chariot opposite the Syrians until evening, and about sunset he died.
