1 ¶ So they brought the ark of God and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it, and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.

Portarono dunque l’arca di Dio e la collocarono in mezzo alla tenda che Davide aveva eretta per quella; e si offrirono olocausti e sacrifici di riconoscenza davanti a Dio.

2 A nd when David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.

Quando Davide ebbe finito di offrire gli olocausti e i sacrifici di riconoscenza, benedisse il popolo nel nome del Signore

3 A nd he dealt to all Israel, both men and women, to each one a loaf of bread and a good piece of flesh and a flagon of wine.

e distribuì a tutti gli Israeliti, uomini e donne, un pane per uno, una porzione di carne e un dolce d’uva passa.

4 A nd he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD and to record and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:

Poi stabilì davanti all’arca del Signore alcuni dei Leviti per fare il servizio, per invocare, celebrare e lodare il Signore, Dio d’Israele.

5 A saph, the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obededom: and Jeiel with psalteries and with harps, but Asaph resounded with cymbals;

Erano: Asaf, il capo; Zaccaria, il secondo dopo di lui; poi Ieiel, Semiramot, Ieiel, Mattitia, Eliab, Benaia, Obed-Edom e Ieiel. Suonavano saltèri e cetre, e Asaf suonava i cembali;

6 a nd Benaiah and Jahaziel, the priests, with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.

i sacerdoti Benaia e Iaaziel suonavano continuamente la tromba davanti all’arca del patto di Dio.

7 ¶ Then, on that day, David began to thank the LORD by the hand of Asaph and his brethren.

Allora, in quel giorno, Davide diede per la prima volta ad Asaf e ai suoi fratelli l’incarico di cantare le lodi del Signore:

8 G ive thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.

«Lodate il Signore, invocate il suo nome; fate conoscere le sue gesta fra i popoli.

9 S ing unto him, sing psalms unto him, speak of all his wondrous works.

Cantategli, salmeggiategli, meditate su tutte le sue meraviglie.

10 G lory in his holy name; let the heart of those that seek the LORD rejoice.

Gloriatevi del suo santo nome; si rallegri il cuore di quelli che cercano il Signore!

11 S eek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.

Cercate il Signore e la sua forza, cercate sempre il suo volto!

12 R emember his marvellous works that he has done, his wonders and the judgments of his mouth;

Ricordatevi delle meraviglie che egli ha fatte, dei suoi miracoli e dei giudizi della sua bocca,

13 O , ye seed of Israel, his slave, ye sons of Jacob, his chosen ones.

o voi, discendenza d’Israele, suo servo, figli di Giacobbe, suoi eletti!

14 H e is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.

Egli, il Signore, è il nostro Dio; i suoi giudizi si impongono su tutta la terra.

15 B e mindful always of his covenant, the word which he commanded in a thousand generations,

Ricordatevi per sempre del suo patto, della parola da lui data per mille generazioni,

16 t he covenant which he cut with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;

del patto che fece con Abraamo, del suo giuramento fatto a Isacco

17 w hich he confirmed unto Jacob by statute, and to Israel in everlasting covenant,

e che confermò a Giacobbe come uno statuto, a Israele come un patto eterno,

18 s aying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the cord of your inheritance,

dicendo: “A te darò il paese di Canaan come tua parte di eredità”.

19 w hen ye were but few in number, and strangers in it.

Non erano allora che poca gente, pochissimi e stranieri nel paese,

20 A nd they went from nation to nation and from one kingdom to another people.

e andavano da una nazione all’altra, da un regno a un altro popolo.

21 H e would allow no one to oppress them; he reproved kings for their sakes,

Egli non permise a nessuno di opprimerli; anzi, castigò dei re per amor loro,

22 s aying, Touch not my anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

dicendo: “Non toccate i miei unti e non fate male ai miei profeti”.

23 S ing unto the LORD, all the earth; show forth from day to day his saving health.

Cantate al Signore, abitanti di tutta la terra, annunciate di giorno in giorno la sua salvezza!

24 D eclare his glory among the Gentiles; his marvellous works among all peoples.

Raccontate la sua gloria fra le nazioni e le sue meraviglie fra tutti i popoli!

25 F or great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; he also is to be feared above all gods.

Perché il Signore è grande e degno di sovrana lode; egli è tremendo sopra tutti gli dèi.

26 F or all the gods of the people are worthless, but the LORD made the heavens.

Poiché tutti gli dèi dei popoli son idoli vani, ma il Signore ha fatto i cieli.

27 G lory and beauty are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place.

Splendore e maestà sono davanti a lui, forza e gioia sono nella sua dimora.

28 G ive unto the LORD, ye families of the peoples, give unto the LORD glory and strength.

Date al Signore, o famiglie dei popoli, date al Signore gloria e forza.

29 G ive unto the LORD the glory of his name; bring a present and come before him; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Date al Signore la gloria dovuta al suo nome, portategli offerte e venite in sua presenza. Prostratevi davanti al Signore vestiti di sacri ornamenti,

30 F ear before him, all the earth; the world also is being made stable, that it be not moved.

tremate davanti a lui, abitanti di tutta la terra! Il mondo è stabile e non sarà smosso.

31 L et the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; and let men say among the Gentiles, The LORD reigns.

Si rallegrino i cieli e gioisca la terra! Si dica fra le nazioni: “Il Signore regna”.

32 L et the sea roar, and the fullness thereof; let the fields rejoice, and all that is therein.

Risuoni il mare e quanto esso contiene; esulti la campagna e tutto quel che è in essa.

33 T hen shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the LORD, because he comes to judge the earth.

Gli alberi delle foreste esultino davanti al Signore, poich’egli viene a giudicare la terra.

34 O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good; for his mercy is eternal.

Celebrate il Signore, perché egli è buono, perché la sua bontà dura per sempre.

35 A nd say, Save us, O God our saving health, and gather us together and deliver us from the Gentiles, that we may give thanks to thy holy name and glory in thy praise.

E dite: “Salvaci, o Dio della nostra salvezza! Raccoglici fra le nazioni e liberaci, affinché celebriamo il tuo santo nome e mettiamo la nostra gloria nel lodarti”.

36 B lessed be the LORD God of Israel from eternity unto eternity. And all the people said, Amen and praised the LORD.

Benedetto sia il Signore, Dio d’Israele, d’eternità in eternità!» E tutto il popolo disse: «Amen!» e lodò il Signore.

37 ¶ So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD Asaph and his brethren to minister before the ark continually, each thing in its day;

Poi Davide lasciò là, davanti all’arca del patto del Signore, Asaf e i suoi fratelli perché fossero sempre di servizio davanti all’arca, secondo le necessità di ogni giorno.

38 a nd Obededom with their brethren, sixty-eight; Obededom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be porters.

Lasciò Obed-Edom e Cosa e i loro fratelli, in numero di sessantotto: Obed-Edom, figlio di Iedutun, e Cosa, come portieri.

39 A nd Zadok, the priest, and his brethren, the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon,

Lasciò pure il sacerdote Sadoc e i sacerdoti suoi fratelli davanti al tabernacolo del Signore, sull’alto luogo che era a Gabaon,

40 t o offer burnt offerings unto the LORD upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which he commanded Israel;

perché offrissero olocausti al Signore, sull’altare degli olocausti, sempre, mattina e sera, ed eseguissero tutto quello che sta scritto nella legge che il Signore ha prescritto a Israele.

41 a nd with them Heman and Jeduthun and the rest that were chosen expressly by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his mercy is eternal.

Con essi erano Eman, Iedutun e gli altri che erano stati scelti e designati per nome per lodare il Signore, perché la sua bontà dura in eterno.

42 A nd with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals to sound, and with other musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.

Eman e Iedutun erano con essi, con trombe e cembali per la musica, e con degli strumenti per i cantici in lode di Dio. I figli di Iedutun erano addetti alla porta.

43 A nd all the people departed each one to his house; and David returned to bless his house.

Tutto il popolo se ne andò, ciascuno a casa sua, e Davide se ne ritornò per benedire la propria casa.
