1 ¶ Justified therefore by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus, the Christ,

Giustificati dunque per fede, abbiamo pace con Dio per mezzo di Gesù Cristo, nostro Signore,

2 b y whom we also have access by faith into this grace in which we stand and glory in hope of the glory of the sons of God.

mediante il quale abbiamo anche avuto {, per la fede,} l’accesso a questa grazia nella quale stiamo fermi, e ci gloriamo nella speranza della gloria di Dio;

3 A nd not only this, but we even glory in the tribulations, knowing that the tribulation works patience;

non solo, ma ci gloriamo anche nelle afflizioni, sapendo che l’afflizione produce pazienza,

4 a nd patience, experience; and experience, hope;

la pazienza, esperienza, e l’esperienza, speranza.

5 a nd the hope shall not be ashamed, because the love of God is poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us.

Or la speranza non delude, perché l’amore di Dio è stato sparso nei nostri cuori mediante lo Spirito Santo che ci è stato dato.

6 ¶ For the Christ, when we were yet weak, in his time died for the ungodly.

Infatti, mentre noi eravamo ancora senza forza, Cristo, a suo tempo, è morto per gli empi.

7 F or scarcely for a righteous man will one die, yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

Difficilmente uno morirebbe per un giusto, ma forse per una persona buona qualcuno avrebbe il coraggio di morire;

8 B ut God increased the price of his charity toward us in that while we were yet sinners the Christ died for us.

Dio invece mostra il proprio amore per noi in questo: che, mentre eravamo ancora peccatori, Cristo è morto per noi.

9 T hen much more now justified in his blood, we shall be saved from wrath by him.

Tanto più dunque, essendo ora giustificati per il suo sangue, saremo per mezzo di lui salvati dall’ira.

10 F or if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled with God by the death of his Son, much more, now reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Se infatti, mentre eravamo nemici, siamo stati riconciliati con Dio mediante la morte del Figlio suo, tanto più ora, che siamo riconciliati, saremo salvati mediante la sua vita.

11 A nd not only this, but we even glory in God through our Lord Jesus, the Christ, by whom we have now received the reconciliation.

Non solo, ma ci gloriamo anche in Dio per mezzo del nostro Signore Gesù Cristo, mediante il quale abbiamo ora ottenuto la riconciliazione. Il peccato e la grazia

12 T herefore, in the manner which sin entered into the world by one man, and because of sin, death; and so death passed upon all men in the one in whom all sinned.

Perciò, come per mezzo di un solo uomo il peccato è entrato nel mondo, e per mezzo del peccato la morte, e così la morte è passata su tutti gli uomini, perché tutti hanno peccato…

13 F or until the law, sin was in the world; but the sin was not imputed, there being no law.

Poiché, fino alla legge, il peccato era nel mondo, ma il peccato non è imputato quando non c’è legge.

14 N evertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even in those that did not sin after the manner of the rebellion of Adam, who is a figure of him that was to come.

Eppure la morte regnò, da Adamo fino a Mosè, anche su quelli che non avevano peccato con una trasgressione simile a quella di Adamo, il quale è figura di colui che doveva venire.

15 B ut not as the offense, so also is the gift. For if through the offense of that one many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of one man, Jesus the Christ, has abounded unto many.

Però, la grazia non è come la trasgressione. Perché se per la trasgressione di uno solo molti sono morti, a maggior ragione la grazia di Dio e il dono della grazia proveniente da un solo uomo, Gesù Cristo, sono stati riversati abbondantemente su molti.

16 N or was it in the same manner as by one sin, likewise also the gift; for the judgment truly came of one sin unto condemnation, but grace came of many offenses unto justification.

Riguardo al dono non avviene quello che è avvenuto nel caso dell’uno che ha peccato; perché dopo una sola trasgressione il giudizio è diventato condanna, mentre il dono diventa giustificazione dopo molte trasgressioni.

17 F or if by one offense, death reigned because of one man; much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of gifts and of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus the Christ.

Infatti, se per la trasgressione di uno solo la morte ha regnato a causa di quell’uno, tanto più quelli che ricevono l’abbondanza della grazia e del dono della giustizia regneranno nella vita per mezzo di quell’uno che è Gesù Cristo.

18 T herefore, in the same manner that by the iniquity of one guilt came upon all men unto condemnation, even so by the righteousness of one, grace came upon all men unto justification of life.

Dunque, come con una sola trasgressione la condanna si è estesa a tutti gli uomini, così pure, con un solo atto di giustizia, la giustificazione che dà la vita si è estesa a tutti gli uomini.

19 F or as by one man’s disobedience, many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Infatti, come per la disubbidienza di un solo uomo i molti sono stati resi peccatori, così anche per l’ubbidienza di uno solo i molti saranno costituiti giusti.

20 M oreover the law entered that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound,

La legge poi è intervenuta a moltiplicare la trasgressione; ma dove il peccato è abbondato, la grazia è sovrabbondata,

21 s o that in the same manner as sin has reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus, the Christ, our Lord.

affinché, come il peccato regnò mediante la morte, così pure la grazia regni mediante la giustizia a vita eterna, per mezzo di Gesù Cristo, nostro Signore.
