1 ¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they came near before the LORD and died;

Il Signore parlò a Mosè dopo la morte dei due figli di Aaronne, i quali morirono quando si presentarono davanti al Signore.

2 a nd the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron, thy brother, that he not enter at all times into the sanctuary inside the veil before the seat of reconciliation, which is upon the ark, that he not die; for I will appear in the cloud above the seat of reconciliation.

Il Signore disse a Mosè: «Parla ad Aaronne, tuo fratello, e digli di non entrare in qualsiasi tempo nel santuario, di là dalla cortina, davanti al propiziatorio che è sull’arca, affinché non muoia; poiché io apparirò nella nuvola sul propiziatorio.

3 T hus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock as sin and a ram as a burnt offering.

Aaronne entrerà nel santuario in questo modo: prenderà un toro per un sacrificio per il peccato e un montone per un olocausto.

4 H e shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen underwear upon his flesh and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he cover himself. These are holy garments; and he shall wash his flesh with water and put them on.

Indosserà la tunica sacra di lino, indosserà sotto la tunica i calzoni di lino; si metterà la cintura di lino e si coprirà il capo con il turbante di lino. Questi sono i paramenti sacri; egli li indosserà dopo essersi lavato il corpo nell’acqua.

5 ¶ And he shall take of the congregation of the sons of Israel two he goats as the sin and one ram as a burnt offering.

Dalla comunità dei figli d’Israele prenderà due capri per un sacrificio per il peccato e un montone per un olocausto.

6 A nd Aaron shall cause the bullock of his sin to be brought, and make reconciliation for himself and for his house.

Aaronne offrirà il suo toro del sacrificio per il peccato e farà l’espiazione per sé e per la sua casa.

7 A fter that, he shall take the two goats and present them before the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the testimony.

Poi prenderà i due capri e li presenterà davanti al Signore all’ingresso della tenda di convegno.

8 A nd Aaron shall cast lots upon the two he goats, one lot for the LORD and the other lot for Azazel.

Aaronne tirerà a sorte per vedere quale dei due debba essere del Signore e quale di Azazel.

9 A nd Aaron shall cause the he goat upon which the LORD’s lot fell to be brought and offer him for the sin.

Poi Aaronne farà avvicinare il capro che è toccato in sorte al Signore e l’offrirà come sacrificio per il peccato;

10 B ut the he goat on which the lot fell for Azazel shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make the reconciliation upon him and to send him to Azazel into the wilderness.

ma il capro che è toccato in sorte ad Azazel sarà messo vivo davanti al Signore, perché serva a fare l’espiazione per mandarlo poi ad Azazel nel deserto.

11 A nd Aaron shall cause the bullock of his own sin to be brought and shall make the reconciliation for himself and for his house and shall kill the bullock of his own sin.

Aaronne offrirà dunque il suo toro del sacrificio espiatorio e farà l’espiazione per sé e per la sua casa. Sgozzerà il toro del sacrificio per il peccato per sé.

12 A fter that he shall take the censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD and his hands full of aromatic incense beaten small and bring it inside the veil.

Poi prenderà un turibolo pieno di carboni accesi, tolti dall’altare davanti al Signore, e due manciate di incenso aromatico polverizzato; e porterà ogni cosa di là dalla cortina.

13 A nd he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, and the cloud of the incense shall cover the seat of reconciliation that is upon the testimony, and he shall not die.

Metterà l’incenso sul fuoco davanti al Signore, affinché la nuvola dell’incenso copra il propiziatorio che è sulla testimonianza, e non morirà.

14 T hen he shall take of the blood of the bullock and sprinkle it with his finger towards the seat of reconciliation eastward; towards the seat of reconciliation he shall sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.

Poi prenderà del sangue del toro, aspergerà col dito il propiziatorio verso oriente e farà sette aspersioni del sangue col dito, davanti al propiziatorio.

15 ¶ After that, he shall kill the goat of the sin of the people and bring its blood inside the veil and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock and sprinkle it upon the seat of reconciliation and before the seat of reconciliation;

Poi sgozzerà il capro del sacrificio per il peccato, che è per il popolo, e ne porterà il sangue di là dalla cortina; farà con questo sangue quello che ha fatto con il sangue del toro: ne farà l’aspersione sul propiziatorio e davanti al propiziatorio.

16 a nd he shall cleanse the sanctuary of the uncleanness of the sons of Israel and of their rebellions and of all their sins; in the same manner so shall he do for the tabernacle of the testimony, which dwells among them in the midst of their uncleanness.

Così farà l’espiazione per il santuario, a causa delle impurità dei figli d’Israele, delle loro trasgressioni e di tutti i loro peccati. Lo stesso farà per la tenda di convegno che è tra di loro, in mezzo alle loro impurità.

17 A nd no man shall be in the tabernacle of the testimony when he enters in to make reconciliation in the sanctuary until he comes out and has made reconciliation for himself and for his household and for all the congregation of Israel.

Nella tenda di convegno, quando egli entrerà nel santuario per farvi l’espiazione, non ci sarà nessuno, finché egli non sia uscito e non abbia fatto l’espiazione per sé, per la sua casa e per tutta la comunità d’Israele.

18 A nd he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD and reconcile it and shall take of the blood of the bullock and of the blood of the he goat and put it upon the horns of the altar round about.

Egli uscirà verso l’altare che è davanti al Signore e farà l’espiazione per esso; prenderà del sangue del toro e del sangue del capro e lo metterà sui corni dell’altare da ogni lato.

19 A nd he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times and cleanse it and sanctify it from the uncleanness of the sons of Israel.

Farà sette aspersioni del sangue, con il dito, sull’altare; così lo purificherà e lo santificherà a causa delle impurità dei figli d’Israele.

20 ¶ And when he has made an end of reconciling the sanctuary and the tabernacle of the testimony and the altar, he shall cause the live he goat to be brought;

«Quando avrà finito di fare l’espiazione per il santuario, per la tenda di convegno e per l’altare, farà avvicinare il capro vivo.

21 a nd Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live he goat and confess over it all the iniquities of the sons of Israel and all their rebellions and all their sins, putting them thus upon the head of the he goat and shall send him away into the wilderness by the hand of a man prepared for this;

Aaronne poserà tutte e due le mani sul capo del capro vivo, confesserà su di lui tutte le iniquità dei figli d’Israele, tutte le loro trasgressioni, tutti i loro peccati e li metterà sulla testa del capro; poi, per mano di un uomo che ha questo incarico, lo manderà via nel deserto.

22 a nd that he goat shall bear upon itself all their iniquities unto an uninhabitable land; and he shall send the he goat into the wilderness.

Quel capro porterà su di sé tutte le loro iniquità in una regione solitaria; esso sarà lasciato andare nel deserto.

23 A fter that, Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the testimony and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on to enter into the sanctuary, and shall put them there.

Poi Aaronne entrerà nella tenda di convegno, si spoglierà delle vesti di lino che aveva indossate per entrare nel santuario e le deporrà lì.

24 T hen he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place and put on his garments and come forth after that and make his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people and make reconciliation for himself and for the people.

Si laverà il corpo con acqua in un luogo santo, indosserà i paramenti, uscirà a offrire il suo olocausto e l’olocausto del popolo e farà l’espiazione per sé e per il popolo.

25 A nd the fat of the sin he shall incense upon the altar.

Farà bruciare sull’altare il grasso del sacrificio per il peccato.

26 A nd he that took the he goat to Azazel shall wash his clothes and bathe his flesh with water and afterward come into the camp.

L’uomo che avrà lasciato andare il capro destinato ad Azazel si laverà le vesti, laverà il suo corpo con acqua e dopo questo rientrerà nell’accampamento.

27 A nd he shall take outside the camp the bullock of the sin and the goat of the sin, whose blood was brought in to make the reconciliation in the sanctuary; and they shall burn in the fire their skins and their flesh and their dung.

Si porterà fuori dall’accampamento il toro del sacrificio per il peccato e il capro del sacrificio espiatorio, il cui sangue sarà stato portato nel santuario per farvi l’espiazione; e se ne bruceranno le pelli, la carne e gli escrementi.

28 A nd he that burns them shall wash his clothes and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.

Poi colui che li avrà bruciati si laverà le vesti e laverà il suo corpo con acqua; dopo questo, rientrerà nell’accampamento.

29 ¶ And you shall hold this as a perpetual statute: In the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls and do no work at all, whether it is a natural of your own country or a stranger that sojourns among you;

«Questa sarà per voi una legge perenne: nel settimo mese, il decimo giorno del mese, vi umilierete e non farete nessun lavoro, né colui che è nativo del paese, né lo straniero che abita fra di voi.

30 f or on that day he shall reconcile you to cleanse you that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD.

Poiché in quel giorno si farà l’espiazione per voi, per purificarvi; voi sarete purificati da tutti i vostri peccati, davanti al Signore.

31 I t shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a perpetual statute.

È per voi un sabato di riposo solenne e vi umilierete; è una legge perenne.

32 A nd the reconciliation shall be made by the priest who is anointed and whose hand has been filled to be priest in the place of his father; and he shall put on the linen clothes, the holy garments;

Il sacerdote che ha ricevuto l’unzione ed è stato consacrato per esercitare il sacerdozio al posto di suo padre farà l’espiazione; si vestirà delle vesti di lino, dei paramenti sacri.

33 a nd he shall reconcile the holy sanctuary and reconcile the tabernacle of the testimony; he shall also reconcile the altar and the priests and all the people of the congregation.

Farà l’espiazione per il santuario sacro; farà l’espiazione per la tenda di convegno e per l’altare; farà l’espiazione per i sacerdoti e per tutto il popolo della comunità.

34 A nd you shall hold this as a perpetual statute to reconcile the sons of Israel of all their sins once a year. And Moses did as the LORD commanded him.

Questa sarà per voi una legge perenne: fare una volta all’anno, per i figli d’Israele, l’espiazione di tutti i loro peccati». E si fece come il Signore aveva ordinato a Mosè.
