1 L ord, you have been our dwelling place for all generations.

2 B efore the mountains were born, before you had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.

Înainte ca să se fi născut munţii, şi înainte ca să se fi făcut pămîntul şi lumea, din vecinicie în vecinicie, Tu eşti Dumnezeu!

3 Y ou turn man to destruction, saying, “Return, you children of men.”

Tu întorci pe oameni în ţărînă, şi zici:,,Întoarceţi-vă fiii oamenilor!``

4 F or a thousand years in your sight are just like yesterday when it is past, like a watch in the night.

Căci înaintea Ta, o mie de ani sînt ca ziua de ieri, care a trecut, şi ca o strajă din noapte.

5 Y ou sweep them away as they sleep. In the morning they sprout like new grass.

Îi mături, ca un vis: dimineaţa, sînt ca iarba, care încolţeşte iarăş:

6 I n the morning it sprouts and springs up. By evening, it is withered and dry.

înfloreşte dimineaţa, şi creşte, iar seara este tăiată şi se usucă.

7 F or we are consumed in your anger. We are troubled in your wrath.

Noi sîntem mistuiţi de mînia Ta, şi îngroziţi de urgia Ta.

8 Y ou have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.

Tu pui înaintea Ta nelegiuirile noastre, şi scoţi la lumina Feţei Tale păcatele noastre cele ascunse.

9 F or all our days have passed away in your wrath. We bring our years to an end as a sigh.

Toate zilele noastre pier de urgia Ta, vedem cum ni se duc anii ca un sunet.

10 T he days of our years are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty years; yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for it passes quickly, and we fly away.

Anii vieţii noastre se ridică la şaptezeci de ani, iar, pentru cei mai tari, la optzeci de ani; şi lucrul cu care se mîndreşte omul în timpul lor nu este decît trudă şi durere, căci trece iute, şi noi sburăm.

11 W ho knows the power of your anger, your wrath according to the fear that is due to you?

Dar cine ia seama la tăria mîniei Tale, şi la urgia Ta, aşa cum se cuvine să se teamă de Tine?

12 S o teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Învaţă-ne să ne numărăm bine zilele, ca să căpătăm o inimă înţeleaptă!

13 R elent, Yahweh! How long? Have compassion on your servants!

Întoarce-te, Doamne! Pînă cînd zăboveşti? Ai milă de robii Tăi!

14 S atisfy us in the morning with your loving kindness, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Satură-ne în fiecare dimineaţă de bunătatea Ta, şi toată viaţa noastră ne vom bucura şi ne vom veseli.

15 M ake us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen evil.

Înveseleşte-ne tot atîtea zile cîte ne-ai smerit, tot atîţia ani cît am văzut nenorocirea!

16 L et your work appear to your servants; your glory to their children.

Să se arate robilor Tăi lucrarea Ta, şi slava Ta fiilor lor!

17 L et the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands.

Fie peste noi bunăvoinţa Domnului Dumnezeului nostru! Şi întăreşte lucrarea mînilor noastre, da, întăreşte lucrarea mînilor noastre!
