1 L isten to my prayer, God. Don’t hide yourself from my supplication.

(Către mai marele cîntăreţilor. De cîntat pe instrumente cu coarde. O cîntare a lui David.) Ia aminte, Dumnezeule, la rugăciunea mea, şi nu Te ascunde de cererile mele!

2 A ttend to me, and answer me. I am restless in my complaint, and moan,

Ascultă-mă, şi răspunde-mi! Rătăcesc încoace şi încolo, şi mă frămînt,

3 B ecause of the voice of the enemy, Because of the oppression of the wicked. For they bring suffering on me. In anger they hold a grudge against me.

din pricina zarvei vrăjmaşului şi din pricina apăsării celui rău. Căci ei aruncă nenorocirea peste mine, şi mă urmăresc cu mînie.

4 M y heart is severely pained within me. The terrors of death have fallen on me.

Îmi tremură inima în mine, şi mă cuprinde spaima morţii,

5 F earfulness and trembling have come on me. Horror has overwhelmed me.

mă apucă frica şi groaza, şi mă iau fiorii.

6 I said, “Oh that I had wings like a dove! Then I would fly away, and be at rest.

Eu zic:,, O, dacă aş avea aripile porumbelului, aş sbura, şi aş găsi undeva odihnă!``

7 B ehold, then I would wander far off. I would lodge in the wilderness.” Selah.

Da, aş fugi departe de tot, şi m'aş duce să locuiesc în pustie. -(Oprire).

8 “ I would hurry to a shelter from the stormy wind and storm.”

Aş fugi în grabă la un adăpost de vîntul acesta năpraznic şi de furtuna aceasta.

9 C onfuse them, Lord, and confound their language, for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

Nimiceşte -i, Doamne, împarte-le limbile, căci în cetate văd silă şi certuri;

10 D ay and night they prowl around on its walls. Malice and abuse are also within her.

zi şi noapte ei îi dau ocol pe ziduri: nelegiuirea şi răutatea sînt în sînul ei;

11 D estructive forces are within her. Threats and lies don’t depart from her streets.

răutatea este în mijlocul ei, şi vicleşugul şi înşelătoria nu lipsesc din pieţele ei.

12 F or it was not an enemy who insulted me, then I could have endured it. Neither was it he who hated me who raised himself up against me, then I would have hidden myself from him.

Nu un vrăjmaş mă batjocoreşte, căci aş suferi: nu protivnicul meu se ridică împotriva mea, căci m'aş ascunde dinaintea lui.

13 B ut it was you, a man like me, my companion, and my familiar friend.

Ci tu, pe care te socoteam una cu mine, tu, frate de cruce şi prieten cu mine!

14 W e took sweet fellowship together. We walked in God’s house with company.

Noi, cari trăiam împreună într'o plăcută prietenie, şi ne duceam împreună cu mulţimea în Casa lui Dumnezeu!

15 L et death come suddenly on them. Let them go down alive into Sheol. For wickedness is among them, in their dwelling.

Să vină moartea peste ei, şi să se pogoare de vii în locuinţa morţilor! Căci răutatea este în locuinţa lor, în inima lor.

16 A s for me, I will call on God. Yahweh will save me.

Dar eu strig către Dumnezeu, şi Domnul mă va scăpa.

17 E vening, morning, and at noon, I will cry out in distress. He will hear my voice.

Seara, dimineaţa, şi la amiază, oftez şi gem, şi El va auzi glasul meu.

18 H e has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me, although there are many who oppose me.

Mă va scăpa din lupta care se dă împotriva mea, şi-mi va aduce pacea, căci mulţi mai sînt împotriva mea!

19 G od, who is enthroned forever, will hear, and answer them. Selah. They never change, who don’t fear God.

Dumnezeu va auzi, şi -i va smeri, El, care, din vecinicie, stă pe scaunul Lui de domnie. -(Oprire). Căci în ei nu este nicio nădejde de schimbare, şi nu se tem de Dumnezeu.

20 H e raises his hands against his friends. He has violated his covenant.

Ei pun mîna pe cei ce trăiau în pace cu ei, şi îşi calcă legămîntul.

21 H is mouth was smooth as butter, but his heart was war. His words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.

Gura lor este dulce ca smîntîna, dar în inimă poartă războiul: cuvintele lor sînt mai alunecoase decît untdelemnul, dar cînd ies ele din gură, sînt nişte săbii.

22 C ast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.

Încredinţează-ţi soarta în mîna Domnului, şi El te va sprijini. El nu va lăsa niciodată să se clatine cel neprihănit.

23 B ut you, God, will bring them down into the pit of destruction. Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days, but I will trust in you.

Şi Tu, Dumnezeule, îi vei pogorî în fundul gropii. Oamenii setoşi de sînge şi de înşelăciune, nu vor ajunge nici jumătate din zilele lor. Eu însă mă încred în Tine!
