1 O f the children of Ammon. Yahweh says: Has Israel no sons? has he no heir? why then does Malcam possess Gad, and his people well in its cities?

Asupra copiiilor lui Amon. Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:,, N'are Israel fii? Şi n'are moştenitori? Atunci pentruce stăpîneşte Malcom Gadul, şi locuieşte poporul lui în cetăţile lui?

2 T herefore behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard against Rabbah of the children of Ammon; and it shall become a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel possess those who possessed him, says Yahweh.

De aceea, iată că vin zile, zice Domnul, cînd voi face să răsune strigătul de război împotriva Rabei copiilor lui Amon. Ea va ajunge un morman de dărîmături, şi satele sale vor fi arse de foc. Atunci Israel va izgoni, pe cei ce -l izgoniseră, zice Domnul.``

3 W ail, Heshbon, for Ai is laid waste; cry, you daughters of Rabbah, clothe yourself in sackcloth: lament, and run back and forth among the fences; for Malcam shall go into captivity, his priests and his princes together.

Gemi, Hesbonule, căci Ai este pustiit! Strigaţi, fiicele Rabei, îmbrăcaţi-vă cu saci, şi bociţi-vă alergînd încoace şi încolo dealungul zidurilor! Căci Malcom se duce în robie, cu preoţii şi căpeteniile sale!

4 W hy do you glory in the valleys, your flowing valley, backsliding daughter? who trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come to me?

Ce te lauzi cu văile?``,, Valea ta se scurge, fiică răzvrătită, care te încredeai în vistieriile tale, şi ziceai:, Cine va veni împotriva mea?``

5 B ehold, I will bring a fear on you, says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, from all who are around you; and you shall be driven out every man right out, and there shall be no one to gather together the fugitives.

Iată, voi aduce groaza peste tine, zice Domnul, Dumnezeul oştirilor; ea va veni din toate împrejurimile tale, fiecare din voi va fi izgonit drept înainte, şi nimeni nu va strînge pe fugari!

6 B ut afterward I will bring back the captivity of the children of Ammon, says Yahweh.

Dar după aceea, voi aduce înapoi pe prinşii de război ai copiilor lui Amon, zice Domnul.``

7 O f Edom. Yahweh of Armies says: Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?

Asupra Edomului. Aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor:,, Nu mai este înţelepciune în Teman? A pierit chibzuinţa dela oamenii pricepuţi? S'a dus înţelepciunea lor?``

8 F lee, turn back, dwell in the depths, inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau on him, the time that I shall visit him.

Fugiţi, daţi dosul, plecaţi în peşteri, locuitori ai Dedanului! Căci voi aduce nenorocirea peste Esau, la vremea cînd îl voi pedepsi.``

9 I f grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? if thieves by night, wouldn’t they destroy until they had enough?

Oare, dacă ar veni nişte culegători de struguri la tine, nu ţi-ar lăsa nimic de cules pe urma culegătorilor?``,, Dacă ar veni nişte hoţi noaptea, n'ar pustii decît pînă s'ar sătura!

10 B ut I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his offspring is destroyed, and his brothers, and his neighbors; and he is no more.

Dar Eu însumi voi despoia pe Esau, îi voi descoperi ascunzătorile, şi nu va putea să se ascundă. Copiii lui, fraţii lui, vecinii lui, vor pieri, şi el nu va mai fi!

11 L eave your fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let your widows trust in me.

Lasă pe orfanii tăi! Eu îi voi ţinea în viaţă, şi văduvele tale să se încreadă în Mine!``

12 F or Yahweh says: Behold, they to whom it didn’t pertain to drink of the cup shall certainly drink; and are you he who shall altogether go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished, but you shall surely drink.

Căci aşa vorbeşte Domnul:,, Iată că cei ce nu trebuiau să bea potirul totuşi îl vor bea; şi tu să rămîi nepedepsit? Nu, nu vei rămînea nepedepsit, ci îl vei bea şi tu!

13 F or I have sworn by myself, says Yahweh, that Bozrah shall become an astonishment, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all its cities shall be perpetual wastes.

Căci pe Mine însumi jur, zice Domnul, că Boţra va fi dată pradă pustiirii, ocării, nimicirii şi blestemului, şi toate cetăţile ei se vor preface în nişte dărîmături vecinice.``

14 I have heard news from Yahweh, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, saying, Gather yourselves together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.

Am auzit o veste dela Domnul, şi un sol a fost trimes printre neamuri:,, Strîngeţi-vă, şi porniţi împotriva ei! Sculaţi-vă pentru război!

15 F or, behold, I have made you small among the nations, and despised among men.

Căci iată, te voi face mic printre neamuri, dispreţuit printre oameni.

16 A s for your terror, the pride of your heart has deceived you, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, who hold the height of the hill: though you should make your nest as high as the eagle, I will bring you down from there, says Yahweh.

Înfumurarea ta, îngîmfarea inimii tale te -a rătăcit, pe tine care locuieşti în crăpăturile stîncilor, şi care stai pe vîrful dealurilor. Dar chiar dacă ţi-ai aşeza cuibul tot atît de sus ca al vulturului, şi de acolo te voi prăbuşi, zice Domnul.``

17 E dom shall become an astonishment: everyone who passes by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all its plagues.

Edomul va fi pustiit; toţi cei ce vor trece pe lîngă el se vor mira şi vor fluera pentru toate rănile lui.

18 A s in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbor cities of it, says Yahweh, no man shall dwell there, neither shall any son of man live therein.

Ca şi Sodoma şi Gomora şi cetăţile vecine, cari au fost nimicite, zice Domnul, nici el nu va mai fi locuit, şi nimeni nu se va mai aşeza acolo...

19 B ehold, he shall come up like a lion from the pride of the Jordan against the strong habitation: for I will suddenly make them run away from it; and whoever is chosen, him will I appoint over it: for who is like me? and who will appoint me a time? and who is the shepherd who will stand before me?

Iată, vrăjmaşul se suie ca un leu de pe malurile îngîmfate ale Iordanului împotriva locuinţei tale tari; deodată voi face Edomul să fugă de acolo şi voi pune peste el pe acela pe care l-am ales. Căci cine este ca Mine? Cine-Mi va porunci? Cine-Mi va sta împotrivă?``

20 T herefore hear the counsel of Yahweh, that he has taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he has purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely they shall drag them away, the little ones of the flock; surely he shall make their habitation desolate over them.

De aceea, ascultaţi hotărîrea pe care a luat -o Domnul împotriva Edomului, şi planurile, pe cari le -a făcut împotriva locuitorilor din Teman:,, Cu adevărat, îi vor tîrî ca pe nişte oi slabe, cu adevărat li se va pustii locuinţa!

21 T he earth trembles at the noise of their fall; there is a cry, the noise which is heard in the Red Sea.

De vuietul căderii lor se cutremură pămîntul; strigătul lor se aude pînă la marea Roşie...

22 B ehold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread out his wings against Bozrah: and the heart of the mighty men of Edom at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

Iată, ca vulturul înaintează vrăjmaşul şi sboară, îşi întinde aripile peste Boţra, şi în ziua aceea inima vitejilor Edomului este ca inima unei femei în durerile naşterii.``

23 O f Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad; for they have heard evil news, they are melted away: there is sorrow on the sea; it can’t be quiet.

Asupra Damascului. Hatmanul şi Arpadul sînt roşi de ruşine, căci au auzit o veste rea şi tremură; frica lor este ca o mare înfuriată, care nu se poate potoli.

24 D amascus has grown feeble, she turns herself to flee, and trembling has seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken hold of her, as of a woman in travail.

Damascul este topit, se întoarce să fugă, îl ia groaza, îl apucă neliniştea şi durerile, ca pe o femeie în durerile naşterii. -

25 H ow is the city of praise not forsaken, the city of my joy?

Ah! cum nu este cruţată cetatea slăvită, cetatea bucuriei mele!`` -

26 T herefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be brought to silence in that day, says Yahweh of Armies.

De aceea tinerii ei vor cădea pe uliţe, şi toţi bărbaţii ei de război vor pieri în ziua aceea, zice domnul oştirilor.``

27 I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben Hadad.

Voi pune foc zidurilor Damascului, şi va mistui casele împărăteşti din ben-Hadad.``

28 O f Kedar, and of the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon struck. Yahweh says: Arise, go up to Kedar, and destroy the children of the east.

Asupra Chedarului şi împărăţiilor Haţorului, pe cari le -a bătut Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului. Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:,, Sculaţi-vă, suiţi-vă împotriva Chedarului, şi nimiciţi pe fiii Răsăritului!

29 T heir tents and their flocks shall they take; they shall carry away for themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry to them, Terror on every side!

Le vor lua corturile şi turmele, le vor ridica pînzele, tot calabalîcul şi cămilele, şi le vor striga:, Spaimă, de jur împrejur!`

30 F lee, wander far off, dwell in the depths, you inhabitants of Hazor, says Yahweh; for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has taken counsel against you, and has conceived a purpose against you.

Fugiţi, fugiţi din toate puterile voastre, căutăţi o locuinţă deoparte, locuitori ai Haţorului! zice Domnul: căci Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, a luat o hotărîre împotriva voastră, a făcut un plan împotriva voastră.``

31 A rise, go up to a nation that is at ease, that dwells without care, says Yahweh; that have neither gates nor bars, that dwell alone.

Sculaţi-vă, suiţi-vă împotriva unui neam liniştit, care locuieşte fără teamă, zice Domnul; n'are nici porţi, nici zăvoare, şi locuieşte singur.

32 T heir camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their livestock a plunder: and I will scatter to all winds those who have the corners of their beards cut off; and I will bring their calamity from every side of them, says Yahweh.

Cămilele lor vor fi de jaf, şi mulţimea turmelor lor vor fi o pradă. Voi risipi în toate vînturile pe ei cei ce-şi rad colţurile bărbii, şi le voi aduce pieirea din toate părţile, -zice Domnul. -

33 H azor shall be a dwelling place of jackals, a desolation forever: no man shall dwell there, neither shall any son of man live therein.

Haţorul va fi astfel vizuina şacalilor, un pustiu pe vecie; nimeni nu va locui în el, şi niciun om nu va şedea în el.``

34 Y ahweh’s word that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,

Cuvîntul Domnului, care a fost spus proorocului Ieremia, asupra Elamului, la începutul domniei lui Zedechia, împăratul lui Iuda, sună astfel:

35 Y ahweh of Armies says: Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor:, Iată, voi sfărîma arcul Elamului, puterea lui de căpetenie.

36 O n Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of the sky, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation where the outcasts of Elam shall not come.

Voi aduce asupra Elamului cele patru vînturi dela cele patru margini ale cerului, îi voi risipi în toate vînturile acestea, şi nu va fi niciun popor, la care să n'ajungă fugari din Elam.

37 I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before those who seek their life; and I will bring evil on them, even my fierce anger, says Yahweh; and I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them;

Voi face ca locuitorii Elamului să tremure înaintea vrăjmaşilor lor, şi înaintea celor ce vor să -i omoare. Voi aduce nenorociri peste ei, mînia Mea aprinsă, zice Domnul, şi -i voi urmări cu sabia, pînă ce îi voi nimici.`

38 a nd I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from there king and princes, says Yahweh.

Îmi voi aşeza scaunul de domnie în Elam, şi -i voi nimici împăratul şi căpeteniile, zice Domnul.``

39 B ut it shall happen in the latter days, that I will bring back the captivity of Elam, says Yahweh.

Dar în zilele de apoi voi aduce înapoi pe prinşii de război ai Elamului, zice Domnul.``
