1 Y ahweh, you have searched me, and you know me.

(Către mai marele cîntăreţilor. Un psalm al lui David.) Doamne, Tu mă cercetezi de aproape şi mă cunoşti,

2 Y ou know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar.

ştii cînd stau jos şi cînd mă scol, şi de departe îmi pătrunzi gîndul.

3 Y ou search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.

Ştii cînd umblu şi cînd mă culc, şi cunoşti toate căile mele.

4 F or there is not a word on my tongue, but, behold, Yahweh, you know it altogether.

Căci nu-mi ajunge cuvîntul pe limbă, şi Tu, Doamne, îl şi cunoşti în totul.

5 Y ou hem me in behind and before. You laid your hand on me.

Tu mă înconjori pe dinapoi şi pe dinainte, şi-Ţi pui mîna peste mine.

6 T his knowledge is beyond me. It’s lofty. I can’t attain it.

O ştiinţă atît de minunată este mai pe sus de puterile mele: este prea înaltă ca s'o pot prinde.

7 W here could I go from your Spirit? Or where could I flee from your presence?

Unde mă voi duce departe de Duhul Tău, şi unde voi fugi departe de Faţa Ta?

8 I f I ascend up into heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there!

Dacă mă voi sui în cer, Tu eşti acolo; dacă mă voi culca în locuinţa morţilor, iată-Te şi acolo;

9 I f I take the wings of the dawn, and settle in the uttermost parts of the sea;

Dacă voi lua aripile zorilor, şi mă voi duce să locuiesc la marginea mării,

10 E ven there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will hold me.

şi acolo mîna Ta mă va călăuzi, şi dreapta Ta mă va apuca.

11 I f I say, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me; the light around me will be night”;

Dacă voi zice:,, Cel puţin întunerecul mă va acoperi, -şi se va face noapte lumina dimprejurul meu!``

12 e ven the darkness doesn’t hide from you, but the night shines as the day. The darkness is like light to you.

Iată că nici chiar întunerecul nu este întunecos pentru Tine; ci noaptea străluceşte ca ziua, şi întunerecul ca lumina.

13 F or you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb.

Tu mi-ai întocmit rărunchii, Tu m'ai ţesut în pîntecele mamei mele:

14 I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.

Te laud că sînt o făptură aşa de minunată. Minunate sînt lucrările Tale, şi ce bine vede sufletul meu lucrul acesta!

15 M y frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth.

Trupul meu nu era ascuns de Tine, cînd am fost făcut într'un loc tainic, ţesut în chip ciudat, ca în adîncimile pămîntului.

16 Y our eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them.

Cînd nu eram decît un plod fără chip, ochii Tăi mă vedeau; şi în cartea Ta erau scrise toate zilele cari-mi erau rînduite, mai înainte de a fi fost vreuna din ele.

17 H ow precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is their sum!

Cît de nepătrunse mi se par gîndurile Tale, Dumnezeule, şi cît de mare este numărul lor!

18 I f I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I wake up, I am still with you.

Dacă le număr, sînt mai multe decît boabele de nisip. Cînd mă trezesc, sînt tot cu Tine.

19 I f only you, God, would kill the wicked. Get away from me, you bloodthirsty men!

O, Dumnezeule, de ai ucide pe cel rău! Depărtaţi-vă dela mine, oameni setoşi de sînge!

20 F or they speak against you wickedly. Your enemies take your name in vain.

Ei vorbesc despre Tine în chip nelegiuit, Îţi iau Numele ca să mintă, ei, vrăjmaşii Tăi!

21 Y ahweh, don’t I hate those who hate you? Am I not grieved with those who rise up against you?

Să nu urăsc eu, Doamne, pe cei ce Te urăsc, şi să nu-mi fie scîrbă de cei ce se ridică împotriva Ta?

22 I hate them with perfect hatred. They have become my enemies.

Da, îi urăsc cu o ură desăvîrşită; îi privesc ca pe vrăjmaşi ai mei.

23 S earch me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts.

Cercetează-mă, Dumnezeule, şi cunoaşte-mi inima! Încearcă-mă, şi cunoaşte-mi gîndurile!

24 S ee if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.

Vezi dacă sînt pe o cale rea, şi du-mă pe calea veciniciei!
