1 T hen Job answered,

Iov a luat cuvîntul şi a zis:

2 “ How have you helped him who is without power! How have you saved the arm that has no strength!

Cît de bine ştii tu să vii în ajutorul slăbiciunii! Cum dai tu ajutor braţului fără putere!

3 H ow have you counseled him who has no wisdom, and plentifully declared sound knowledge!

Ce bune sfaturi dai tu celui fără pricepere! Ce belşug de înţelepciune dai tu la iveală!

4 T o whom have you uttered words? Whose spirit came out of you?

Către cine se îndreaptă cuvintele tale? Şi al cui duh vorbeşte prin tine?

5 “ The departed spirits tremble, those beneath the waters and all that live in them.

Înaintea lui Dumnezeu tremură umbrele supt ape şi supt locuitorii lor;

6 S heol is naked before God, and Abaddon has no covering.

înaintea Lui locuinţa morţilor este goală, adîncul n'are acoperiş.

7 H e stretches out the north over empty space, and hangs the earth on nothing.

El întinde miazănoaptea asupra golului, şi spînzură pămîntul pe nimic.

8 H e binds up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not burst under them.

Leagă apele în norii Săi, şi norii nu se sparg supt greutatea lor.

9 H e encloses the face of his throne, and spreads his cloud on it.

Acopere faţa scaunului Său de domnie, şi Îşi întinde norul peste el.

10 H e has described a boundary on the surface of the waters, and to the confines of light and darkness.

A tras o boltă pe faţa apelor, ca hotar între lumină şi întunerec.

11 T he pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his rebuke.

Stîlpii cerului se clatină, şi se înspăimîntă la ameninţarea Lui.

12 H e stirs up the sea with his power, and by his understanding he strikes through Rahab.

Prin puterea Lui turbură marea, prin priceperea Lui îi sfarmă furia.

13 B y his Spirit the heavens are garnished. His hand has pierced the swift serpent.

Suflarea Lui înseninează cerul, mîna Lui străpunge şarpele fugar.

14 B ehold, these are but the outskirts of his ways. How small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?”

Şi acestea sînt doar marginile căilor Sale, şi numai adierea lor uşoară ajunge pînă la noi! Dar tunetul lucrărilor Lui puternice cine -l va auzi?``
