1 H e called to himself his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every sickness.

2 N ow the names of the twelve apostles are these. The first, Simon, who is called Peter; Andrew, his brother; James the son of Zebedee; John, his brother;

4 S imon the Canaanite; and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

5 J esus sent these twelve out, and commanded them, saying, “Don’t go among the Gentiles, and don’t enter into any city of the Samaritans.

7 A s you go, preach, saying, ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!’

Şi pe drum, propovăduiţi, şi ziceţi:,,Împărăţia cerurilor este aproape!``

8 H eal the sick, cleanse the lepers, and cast out demons. Freely you received, so freely give.

Vindecaţi pe bolnavi, înviaţi pe morţi, curăţiţi pe leproşi, scoateţi afară dracii. Fără plată aţi primit, fără plată să daţi.

9 D on’t take any gold, silver, or brass in your money belts.

Să nu luaţi nici aur, nici argint, nici aramă în brîele voastre,

10 T ake no bag for your journey, neither two coats, nor shoes, nor staff: for the laborer is worthy of his food.

nici traistă pentru drum, nici două haine, nici încălţăminte, nici toiag, căci vrednic este lucrătorul de hrana lui.

11 I nto whatever city or village you enter, find out who in it is worthy; and stay there until you go on.

În orice cetate sau sat veţi intra, să cercetaţi cine este acolo vrednic şi să rămîneţi la el pînă veţi pleca.

12 A s you enter into the household, greet it.

La intrarea voastră în casă, uraţi -i de bine;

13 I f the household is worthy, let your peace come on it, but if it isn’t worthy, let your peace return to you.

şi dacă este casa aceea vrednică, pacea voastră să vină peste ea; dar dacă nu este vrednică, pacea voastră să se întoarcă la voi.

14 W hoever doesn’t receive you, nor hear your words, as you go out of that house or that city, shake off the dust from your feet.

Dacă nu vă va primi cineva, nici nu va asculta cuvintele voastre, să ieşiţi din casa sau din cetatea aceea, şi să scuturaţi praful de pe picioarele voastre.``

15 M ost certainly I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.

Adevărat vă spun că, în ziua judecăţii, va fi mai uşor pentru ţinutul Sodomei şi Gomorei, decît pentru cetatea aceea.

16 “ Behold, I send you out as sheep among wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

Iată, Eu vă trimet ca pe nişte oi în mijlocul lupilor. Fiţi dar înţelepţi ca şerpii, şi fără răutate ca porumbeii.

17 B ut beware of men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you.

Păziţi-vă de oameni; căci vă vor da în judecata soboarelor, şi vă vor bate în sinagogile lor.

18 Y es, and you will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the nations.

Din pricina Mea, veţi fi duşi înaintea dregătorilor şi înaintea împăraţilor, ca să slujiţi ca mărturie înaintea lor şi înaintea Neamurilor.

19 B ut when they deliver you up, don’t be anxious how or what you will say, for it will be given you in that hour what you will say.

Dar, cînd vă vor da în mîna lor, să nu vă îngrijoraţi, gîndindu-vă cum sau ce veţi spune; căci ce veţi avea de spus, vă va fi dat chiar în ceasul acela;

20 F or it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.

fiindcă nu voi veţi vorbi, ci Duhul Tatălui vostru va vorbi în voi.

21 “ Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child. Children will rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death.

Fratele va da la moarte pe frate-său, şi tatăl pe copilul lui; copiii se vor scula împotriva părinţilor lor, şi -i vor omorî.

22 Y ou will be hated by all men for my name’s sake, but he who endures to the end will be saved.

Veţi fi urîţi de toţi, din pricina Numelui Meu; dar cine va răbda pînă la sfîrşit, va fi mîntuit.

23 B ut when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next, for most certainly I tell you, you will not have gone through the cities of Israel, until the Son of Man has come.

Cînd vă vor prigoni într'o cetate, să fugiţi într'alta. Adevărat vă spun că nu veţi isprăvi de străbătut cetăţile lui Israel pînă va veni Fiul omului.

24 “ A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his lord.

Ucenicul nu este mai pe sus de învăţătorul său, nici robul mai pe sus de domnul său.

25 I t is enough for the disciple that he be like his teacher, and the servant like his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more those of his household!

Ajunge ucenicului să fie ca învăţătorul lui, şi robului să fie ca domnul lui. Dacă pe Stăpînul casei L-au numit Beelzebul, cu cît mai mult vor numi aşa, pe cei din casa lui?

26 T herefore don’t be afraid of them, for there is nothing covered that will not be revealed; and hidden that will not be known.

Aşa că să nu vă temeţi de ei. Căci nu este nimic ascuns care nu va fi descoperit, şi nimic tăinuit care nu va fi cunoscut.

27 W hat I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in the ear, proclaim on the housetops.

Ce vă spun Eu la întunerec, voi să spuneţi la lumină; şi ce auziţi şoptindu-se la ureche, să propovăduiţi de pe acoperişul caselor.

28 D on’t be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.

Nu vă temeţi de cei ce ucid trupul, dar cari nu pot ucide sufletul; ci temeţi-vă mai degrabă de Celce poate să piardă şi sufletul şi trupul în gheenă.

29 “ Aren’t two sparrows sold for an assarion coin? Not one of them falls on the ground apart from your Father’s will,

Nu se vînd oare două vrăbii la un ban? Totuş, nici una din ele nu cade pe pămînt fără voia Tatălui vostru.

30 b ut the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Cît despre voi, pînă şi perii din cap, toţi vă sînt număraţi.

31 T herefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.

Deci să nu vă temeţi; voi sînteţi mai de preţ decît multe vrăbii.

32 E veryone therefore who confesses me before men, him I will also confess before my Father who is in heaven.

Deaceea, pe orişicine Mă va mărturisi înaintea oamenilor, îl voi mărturisi şi Eu înaintea Tatălui Meu care este în ceruri;

33 B ut whoever denies me before men, him I will also deny before my Father who is in heaven.

dar de oricine se va lepăda de Mine înaintea oamenilor, Mă voi lepăda şi Eu înaintea Tatălui Meu care este în ceruri.

34 “ Don’t think that I came to send peace on the earth. I didn’t come to send peace, but a sword.

Să nu credeţi că am venit s'aduc pacea pe pămînt; n'am venit să aduc pacea, ci sabia.

35 F or I came to set a man at odds against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

Căci am venit să despart pe fiu de tatăl său, pe fiică de mamă-sa, şi pe noră de soacră-sa.

36 A man’s foes will be those of his own household.

Şi omul va avea de vrăjmaşi chiar pe cei din casa lui.

37 H e who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me isn’t worthy of me.

Cine iubeşte pe tată, ori pe mamă, mai mult decît pe Mine, nu este vrednic de Mine; şi cine iubeşte pe fiu ori pe fiică mai mult decît pe Mine, nu este vrednic de Mine.

38 H e who doesn’t take his cross and follow after me, isn’t worthy of me.

Cine nu-şi ia crucea lui, şi nu vine după Mine, nu este vrednic de Mine.

39 H e who seeks his life will lose it; and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.

Cine îşi va păstra viaţa, o va pierde; şi cine îşi va pierde viaţa, pentru Mine, o va cîştiga.

40 H e who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives him who sent me.

Cine vă primeşte pe voi, Mă primeşte pe Mine; şi cine Mă primeşte pe Mine, primeşte pe Cel ce M'a trimes pe Mine.

41 H e who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward. He who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward.

Cine primeşte un prooroc, în numele unui prooroc, va primi răsplata unui prooroc; şi cine primeşte pe un om neprihănit, în numele unui om neprihănit, va primi răsplata unui om neprihănit.

42 W hoever gives one of these little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, most certainly I tell you he will in no way lose his reward.”

Şi oricine va da de băut numai un pahar de apă rece unuia din aceşti micuţi, în numele unui ucenic, adevărat vă spun că nu-şi va pierde răsplata.``
