1 A demás respondió Jehová a Job, y dijo:

Moreover the Lord answered Job, and said:

2 ¿ Es sabiduría contender con el Omnipotente? El que disputa con Dios, responda a esto.

“Shall the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him? He who rebukes God, let him answer it.” Job’s Response to God

3 E ntonces respondió Job a Jehová, y dijo:

Then Job answered the Lord and said:

4 H e aquí que yo soy vil; ¿qué te responderé? Mi mano pongo sobre mi boca.

“Behold, I am vile; What shall I answer You? I lay my hand over my mouth.

5 U na vez hablé, mas no responderé; Aun dos veces, mas no volveré a hablar. Manifestaciones del poder de Dios

Once I have spoken, but I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.” God’s Challenge to Job

6 R espondió Jehová a Job desde el torbellino, y dijo:

Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:

7 C íñete ahora como varón tus lomos; Yo te preguntaré, y tú me responderás.

“Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me:

8 ¿ Invalidarás tú también mi juicio? ¿Me condenarás a mí, para justificarte tú?

“Would you indeed annul My judgment? Would you condemn Me that you may be justified?

9 ¿ Tienes tú un brazo como el de Dios? ¿Y truenas con voz como la suya?

Have you an arm like God? Or can you thunder with a voice like His?

10 A dórnate ahora de majestad y de alteza, Y vístete de honra y de hermosura.

Then adorn yourself with majesty and splendor, And array yourself with glory and beauty.

11 D errama el ardor de tu ira; Mira a todo altivo, y abátelo.

Disperse the rage of your wrath; Look on everyone who is proud, and humble him.

12 M ira a todo soberbio, y humíllalo, Y quebranta a los impíos en su sitio.

Look on everyone who is proud, and bring him low; Tread down the wicked in their place.

13 E ncúbrelos a todos en el polvo, Encierra sus rostros en la oscuridad;

Hide them in the dust together, Bind their faces in hidden darkness.

14 Y yo también te confesaré Que podrá salvarte tu diestra.

Then I will also confess to you That your own right hand can save you.

15 H e aquí ahora behemot, el cual hice como a ti; Hierba come como buey.

“Look now at the behemoth, which I made along with you; He eats grass like an ox.

16 H e aquí ahora que su fuerza está en sus lomos, Y su vigor en los músculos de su vientre.

See now, his strength is in his hips, And his power is in his stomach muscles.

17 S u cola mueve como un cedro, Y los nervios de sus muslos están entretejidos.

He moves his tail like a cedar; The sinews of his thighs are tightly knit.

18 S us huesos son fuertes como bronce, Y sus miembros como barras de hierro.

His bones are like beams of bronze, His ribs like bars of iron.

19 E l es el principio de los caminos de Dios; El que lo hizo, puede hacer que su espada a él se acerque.

He is the first of the ways of God; Only He who made him can bring near His sword.

20 C iertamente los montes producen hierba para él; Y toda bestia del campo retoza allá.

Surely the mountains yield food for him, And all the beasts of the field play there.

21 S e echará debajo de las sombras, En lo oculto de las cañas y de los lugares húmedos.

He lies under the lotus trees, In a covert of reeds and marsh.

22 L os árboles sombríos lo cubren con su sombra; Los sauces del arroyo lo rodean.

The lotus trees cover him with their shade; The willows by the brook surround him.

23 H e aquí, sale de madre el río, pero él no se inmuta; Tranquilo está, aunque todo un Jordán se estrelle contra su boca.

Indeed the river may rage, Yet he is not disturbed; He is confident, though the Jordan gushes into his mouth,

24 ¿ Lo tomará alguno cuando está vigilante, Y horadará su nariz?

Though he takes it in his eyes, Or one pierces his nose with a snare.
