9 N o hables a oídos del necio, Porque menospreciará la prudencia de tus razones.

20 N o estés con los bebedores de vino, Ni con los comedores de carne;

Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes?

30 P ara los que se detienen mucho en el vino, Para los que van buscando la mistura.

Those who linger long at the wine, Those who go in search of mixed wine.

31 N o mires al vino cuando rojea, Cuando resplandece su color en la copa. Se entra suavemente;

Do not look on the wine when it is red, When it sparkles in the cup, When it swirls around smoothly;

32 M as al fin como serpiente morderá, Y como áspid dará dolor.

At the last it bites like a serpent, And stings like a viper.

33 T us ojos mirarán cosas extrañas, Y tu corazón hablará perversidades.

Your eyes will see strange things, And your heart will utter perverse things.

34 S erás como el que yace en medio del mar, O como el que está en la punta de un mastelero.

Yes, you will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea, Or like one who lies at the top of the mast, saying:

35 Y dirás: Me hirieron, mas no me dolió; Me azotaron, mas no lo sentí; Cuando despertare, aún lo volveré a buscar.
