1 П осле заповяда на домакина си, казвайки: Напълни чувалите на човеците с храна, колкото могат да поберат, тури парите на всекиго в чувала му

And he commandeth him who over his house, saying, `Fill the bags of the men food, as they are able to bear, and put the money of each in the mouth of his bag;

2 и тури чашата ми, сребърната чаша, отгоре в чувала на най-младия, с парите за житото му. И той стори според това, което рече Иосиф.

and my cup, the silver cup, thou dost put in the mouth of the bag of the young one, and his corn-money;' and he doth according to the word of Joseph which he hath spoken.

3 Н а утринта, щом съмна, изпратиха човеците и ослите им.

The morning is bright, and the men have been sent away, they and their asses --

4 А когато бяха излезли из града и не бяха се отдалечили много, Иосиф рече на домакина си: Стани, тичай след човеците и, като ги стигнеш, кажи им: Защо върнахте зло за добро?

they have gone out of the city -- they have not gone far off -- and Joseph hath said to him who over his house, `Rise, pursue after the men; and thou hast overtaken them, and thou hast said unto them, Why have ye recompensed evil for good?

5 Н е е ли тая чашата с която пие господарят ми, и с която даже гадае? Зле постъпихте като сторихте това.

Is not this that with which my lord drinketh? and he observeth diligently with it; ye have done evil that which ye have done.'

6 И човекът,като ги настигна, каза им тия думи.

And he overtaketh them, and speaketh unto them these words,

7 А те му рекоха: Защо говори господарят ни такива думи? Не дай, Боже, слугите ти да сторят такова нещо.

and they say unto him, `Why doth my lord speak according to these words? far be it from thy servants to do according to this word;

8 Е то, ние ти върнахме от Ханаанската земя, парите които намерихме отгоре в чувалите си; и как бихме откраднали сребро или злато из дома на господаря ти?

lo, the money which we found in the mouth of our bags we brought back unto thee from the land of Canaan, and how do we steal from the house of thy lord silver or gold?

9 Т ози от слугите ти, у когото се намери, нека умре, тоже и ние нека бъдем роби на господаря си.

with whomsoever of thy servants it is found, he hath died, and we also are to my lord for servants.'

10 А той рече: Нека бъде според както казахте: У когото се намери, той ще ми бъде роб, а вие не ще бъдете виновни.

And he saith, `Now, also, according to your words, so it; he with whom it is found becometh my servant, and ye are acquitted;'

11 Т огава те бързо снеха чувалите си на земята, и всеки отвори чувала си.

and they hasten and take down each his bag to the earth, and each openeth his bag;

12 И той претърси, като почна от най-стария и свърши с най-младия; и чашата се намери във Вениаминовия чувал.

and he searcheth -- at the eldest he hath begun, and at the youngest he hath completed -- and the cup is found in the bag of Benjamin;

13 Т огава раздраха дрехите си, натовариха всеки осела си, и се върнаха в града.

and they rend their garments, and each ladeth his ass, and they turn back to the city.

14 И дойдоха Юда и братята му в дома на Иосифа, гдето той още се намираше, и паднаха пред него на земята.

And Judah -- his brethren also -- cometh in unto the house of Joseph, and he is yet there, and they fall before him to the earth;

15 И рече им Иосиф: Какво е това що сторихте? Не знаете ли, че човек, като мене, може да гадае безпогрешно?

and Joseph saith to them, `What this deed that ye have done? have ye not known that a man like me doth diligently observe?'

16 Т огава Юда каза: Що да речем на господаря си? що да говорим? или как да се оправдаем? Бог откри неправдата на слугите ти; ето, роби сме на господаря си, и ние и оня у когото се намери чашата.

And Judah saith, `What do we say to my lord? what do we speak? and what -- do we justify ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants; lo, we servants to my lord, both we, and he in whose hand the cup hath been found;'

17 Н о Иосиф рече: Не дай, Боже, да сторя това: Оня, у когото се намери чашата, той ще ми бъде роб; а вие си идете с мир при баща си.

and he saith, `Far be it from me to do this; the man in whose hand the cup hath been found, he becometh my servant; and ye, go ye up in peace unto your father.'

18 Т огава Юда се приближи до него и рече: Моля ти се, господарю мой, позволи на слугата си да каже една дума на господаря си, като слушаш ти; и да не пламне гневът ти против слугата ти, защото ти си като Фараон.

And Judah cometh nigh unto him, and saith, `O, my lord, let thy servant speak, I pray thee, a word in the ears of my lord, and let not thine anger burn against thy servant -- for thou art as Pharaoh.

19 Г осподарят ми попита слугите си, казвайки: Имате ли баща или брат?

My lord hath asked his servants, saying, Have ye a father or brother?

20 И рекохме на господаря ми: Имаме стар баща и малко дете на старостта му, и неговият брат умря, тъй че само той остана от майка си,и баща му го обича.

and we say unto my lord, We have a father, an aged one, and a child of old age, a little one; and his brother died, and he is left alone of his mother, and his father hath loved him.

21 И ти рече на слугите си: Доведете ми го, за да го видя с очите си.

`And thou sayest unto thy servants, Bring him down unto me, and I set mine eye upon him;

22 И ние казахме на господаря ми: Детето не може да остави баща си, защото, ако остави баща си, той ще умре.

and we say unto my lord, The youth is not able to leave his father, when he hath left his father, then he hath died;

23 А ти рече на слугите си: Ако не слезе с вас най-малкият ви брат, няма вече да видите лицето ми.

and thou sayest unto thy servants, If your young brother come not down with you, ye add not to see my face.

24 И като отидохме при слугата ти, баща ни, разказахме му това, което беше казал моят господар.

`And it cometh to pass, that we have come up unto thy servant my father, that we declare to him the words of my lord;

25 А когато баща ни рече: Идете пак, купете ни малко храна,

and our father saith, Turn back, buy for us a little food,

26 н ие казахме: Не можем да слезем. Ако най-младият ни брат е с нас, тогава ще слезем, защото не можем да видим лицето на човека, ако най-младият ни брат не е с нас.

and we say, We are not able to go down; if our young brother is with us, then we have gone down; for we are not able to see the man's face, and our young brother not with us.

27 И слугата ти, баща ни, ни каза: Вие знаете, че жена ми ми роди два сина:

`And thy servant my father saith unto us, Ye -- ye have known that two did my wife bare to me,

28 Е диният излезе от мене и си рекох: Навярно звяр го е разкъсал; и до сега не съм го видял;

and the one goeth out from me, and I say, Surely he is torn -- torn! and I have not seen him since;

29 и ако ми отнемете и тоя, и му се случи нещастие, ще свалите бялата ми коса със скръб в гроба.

when ye have taken also this from my presence, and mischief hath met him, then ye have brought down my grey hairs with evil to sheol.

30 И сега, когато отидем при слугата ти, баща ни, и детето не е с нас, то, понеже животът му е свързан с неговия живот,

`And now, at my coming in unto thy servant my father, and the youth not with us (and his soul is bound up in his soul),

31 к ато види, че няма детето, ще умре; и слугите ти ще свалят бялата коса на слугата ти, баща ни, със скръб в гроба.

then it hath come to pass when he seeth that the youth is not, that he hath died, and thy servants have brought down the grey hairs of thy servant our father with sorrow to sheol;

32 З ащото слугата ти стана поръчител пред баща си за детето, като казах: Ако не ти го доведа, тогава ще бъда за винаги виновен пред баща си.

for thy servant obtained the youth by surety from my father, saying, If I bring him not in unto thee -- then I have sinned against my father all the days.

33 С ега, прочее, моля ти се, вместо детето нека остане слугата ти роб на господаря ми, а детето нека отиде с братята си.

`And now, let thy servant, I pray thee, abide instead of the youth a servant to my lord, and the youth goeth up with his brethren,

34 З ащото, как да отида аз при баща си, ако детето не е с мене? Да не би да видя злото, което ще сполети баща ми.

for how do I go up unto my father, and the youth not with me? lest I look on the evil which doth find my father.'
