1 А масия бе двадесет и пет години на възраст когато се възцари, и царува двадесет и девет години в Ерусалим. И името на майка му бе Иодана, от Ерусалим.

A son of twenty and five years hath Amaziah reigned, and twenty and nine years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother Jehoaddan of Jerusalem,

2 Т ой върши това, което бе право пред Господа, но не със съвършено сърце.

and he doth that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah -- only, not with a perfect heart.

3 А като му се утвърди царството, той умъртви слугите си, които бяха убили баща му царя.

And it cometh to pass, when the kingdom hath been strong upon him, that he slayeth his servants, those smiting the king his father,

4 Н о чадата им не умъртви, според писаното в закона на Моисеевата книга, гдето Господ заповядвайки, каза: Бащите да не умират поради чадата, нито чадата да умират поради бащите; но всеки да умира за своя грях.

and their sons he hath not put to death, but as is written in the law, in the book of Moses, whom Jehovah commanded, saying, `Fathers do not die for sons, and sons die not for fathers, but each for his own sin they die.'

5 Т огава Амасия събра Юда и постави от тях хилядници и стотници, според бащините им домове, по целия Юда и Вениамин; и като ги преброи от двадесет години и нагоре, намери ги триста хиляди отборни мъже, способни да излизат на война, които можеха да държат копие и щит.

And Amaziah gathereth Judah, and appointeth them, according to the house of the fathers, for heads of the thousands, and for heads of the hundreds, for all Judah and Benjamin; and he inspecteth them from a son of twenty years and upward, and findeth them three hundred thousand chosen ones, going forth to the host, holding spear and target.

6 А от Израиля нае още сто хиляди силни и храбри мъже за сто таланта сребро.

And he hireth out of Israel a hundred thousand mighty ones of valour, with a hundred talents of silver;

7 А дойде един Божий човек при него и рече: Царю, да не отиде с тебе Израилевата войска; защото Господ не е с Израиля, с никой от ефремците.

and a man of God hath come in unto him, saying, `O king, the host of Israel doth not go with thee; for Jehovah is not with Israel -- all the sons of Ephraim;

8 Н о ако си решил да идеш, действувай храбро, укрепи се за бой; иначе, Бог ще те направи да паднеш пред неприятеля, защото Бог има сила да помага и да сваля.

but if thou art going -- do, be strong for battle, God doth cause thee to stumble before an enemy, for there is power in God to help, and to cause to stumble.'

9 А Амасия рече на Божия човек: Но какво да направим за стоте таланта, които дадох на Израилевата войска? А Божият човек отговори: Господ може да ти даде повече от това.

And Amaziah saith to the man of God, `And what -- to do for the hundred talents that I have given to the troop of Israel?' And the man of God saith, `Jehovah hath more to give to thee than this.'

10 Т огава Амасий ги отдели, то ест, войската, която му беше дошла от Ефрема, за да се върнат у дома си; по която причина гневът им пламна силно против Юда, и се върнаха у дома си твърде разярени.

And Amaziah separateth them -- for the troop that hath come in unto him from Ephraim to go to their own place, and their anger doth burn mightily against Judah, and they turn back to their place in the heat of anger.

11 А Амасия се одързости, изведе людете си, и отиде в долината на солта, та порази десет хиляди от Сиировите потомци.

And Amaziah hath strengthened himself, and leadeth his people, and goeth to the Valley of Salt, and smiteth the sons of Seir -- ten thousand.

12 А други десет хиляди юдейците плениха живи, и като ги закараха на върха на скалата, хвърлиха ги долу от върха на скалата, така че всичките се смазаха.

And ten thousand alive have the sons of Judah taken captive, and they bring them to the top of the rock, and cast them from the top of the rock, and all of them have been broken.

13 Н о мъжете от войската, която Амасия върна надире, за да не идат с него на бой, нападнаха Юдовите градове, от Самария дори до Ветерон, та поразиха от тях три хиляди души, и взеха много користи.

And the sons of the troop that Amaziah hath sent back from going with him to battle -- they rush against cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Beth-Horon, and smite of them three thousand, and seize much prey.

14 А Амасия, като се върна от поразяването на едомците, донесе боговете на Сиировите потомци та ги постави богове за себе си, кланяше се пред тях, и кадеше им тамян.

And it cometh to pass, after the coming in of Amaziah from smiting the Edomites, that he bringeth in the gods of the sons of Seir, and establisheth them to him for gods, and before them doth bow himself, and to them he maketh perfume.

15 З атова, гневът на Господа пламна против Амасия, и прати при него пророк, който му рече: Защо си прибягнал към боговете на тия люде, които не можеха да избавят своите си люде от ръката ти?

And the anger of Jehovah burneth against Amaziah, and He sendeth unto him a prophet, and he saith unto him, `Why hast thou sought the gods of the people that have not delivered their people out of thy hand?'

16 А като му говореше той, царят му каза: Съветник ли те поставиха на царя? Престани: защо да бъдеш убит? И пророкът престана, като рече: Зная, че Бог е решил да те изтреби понеже ти стори това, и не послуша моя съвет.

And it cometh to pass, in his speaking unto him, that he saith to him, `For a counsellor to the king have we appointed thee? cease for thee; why do they smite thee?' And the prophet ceaseth, and saith, `I have known that God hath counselled to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened to my counsel.'

17 Т огава Юдовият цар Амасия, като се съветва, прати до Израилевия цар Иоас, син на Иоахаза, Ииуевия син, да кажат: Дойди да се погледнем един друг в лице.

And Amaziah king of Judah taketh counsel, and sendeth unto Joash son of Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying,

18 А Израилевият цар Иоас прати до Юдовия цар Амасия да рекат: Ливанският трън пратил до ливанския кедър да кажат: Дай дъщеря си на сина ми за жена. Но един звяр, който бил в ливан, заминал та стъпкал тръна.

`Come, we look one another in the face.' And Joash king of Israel sendeth unto Amaziah king of Judah, saying, `The thorn that in Lebanon hath sent unto the cedar that in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son for a wife; and pass by doth a beast of the field that in Lebanon, and treadeth down the thorn.

19 Т и казваш: Ето, поразих Едома; и сърцето ти те надигна да се хвалиш. Седи сега у дома си; защо да се заплиташ за своята си вреда та да паднеш, ти и Юда с тебе?

Thou hast said, Lo, I have smitten Edom; and thy heart hath lifted thee up to boast; now, abide in thy house, why dost thou stir thyself up in evil, that thou hast fallen, thou, and Judah with thee?'

20 Н о Амасия не послуша; защото от Бога бе това, за да ги предаде в ръката на неприятелите, понеже бяха прибегнали към Едомските богове.

And Amaziah hath not hearkened, for from God it in order to give them into hand, because they have sought the gods of Edom;

21 П рочее, Израилевият цар Иоас възлезе, та се погледнаха един друг в лице, той и Юдовият цар Амасия, във Ветсемес, който принадлежи на Юда.

and go up doth Joash king of Israel, and they look one another in the face, he and Amaziah king of Judah, in Beth-Shemesh, that Judah's,

22 И Юда биде поразен пред Израиля; и побягнаха всеки в шатъра си.

and Judah is smitten before Israel, and they flee -- each to his tents.

23 И Израилевият цар Иоас хвана във Ветсемес Юдовия цар Амасия, син на Иоаса, Иоахазовия син и го доведе в Ерусалим, и събори четиристотин лакътя от Ерусалимската стена, от Ефремовата порта до портата на ъгъла.

And Amaziah king of Judah, son of Joash, son of Jehoahaz, hath Joash king of Israel caught in Beth-Shemesh, and bringeth him in to Jerusalem, and breaketh down in the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the gate of the corner, four hundred cubits,

24 И като взе всичкото злато и сребро, и всичките съдове, които се намираха в Божия дом при Овидедома, и съкровищата на царската къща, тоже и заложници, върна се в Самария.

and all the gold, and the silver, and all the vessels that are found in the house of God with Obed-Edom, and the treasures of the house of the king, and the sons of the pledges, and turneth back to Samaria.

25 А след смъртта на Израилевия цар Иоас, Иоахазовият син, Юдовият цар Амасия, Иасовият син, живя петнадесет години.

And Amaziah son of Joash, king of Judah, liveth after the death of Joash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, fifteen years;

26 А останалите дела на Амасия, първите и последните, ето, написани са в Книгата на Юдовите и Израилевите царе.

and the rest of the matters of Amaziah, the first and the last, lo, are they not written on the books of the kings of Judah and Israel?

27 А след като се отклони Амасия от Господа, направиха заговор против него в Ерусалим, и той побягна в Лахис; но пратиха след него в Лахис та го убиха там.

And from the time that Amaziah hath turned aside from after Jehovah -- they make a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fleeth to Lachish, and they send after him to Lachish, and put him to death there,

28 И докараха го на коне та го погребаха с бащите му в Юдовия столичен град.

and lift him up on the horses, and bury him with his fathers in the city of Judah.
