1 А след дълго време, в третата година, Господното слово дойде към Илия и рече: Иди, яви се на Ахава; и ще дам дъжд на земята.

And the days are many, and the word of Jehovah hath been unto Elijah in the third year, saying, `Go, appear unto Ahab, and I give rain on the face of the ground;'

2 И лия, прочее, отиде да се яви на Ахава. А гладът бе тежък в Самария.

and Elijah goeth to appear unto Ahab. And the famine is severe in Samaria,

3 А Ахав беше повикал домоуправителя Авдия. (А Авдия се боеше много от Господа;

and Ahab calleth unto Obadiah, who over the house -- and Obadiah hath been fearing Jehovah greatly,

4 з ащото, когато Езавел изтребваше Господните пророци, Авдия бе взел сто пророка та бе ги скрил, петдесет в една пещера и петдесет в друга, и беше ги хранил с хляб и вода).

and it cometh to pass, in Jezebel's cutting off the prophets of Jehovah, that Obadiah taketh a hundred prophets, and hideth them, fifty men in a cave, and hath sustained them with bread and water --

5 И Ахаав беше казал на Авдия: Обиколи земята и иди към всичките водни извори и към всичките потоци, дано намерим трева за да запазим живота на конете и на мъските, и да не се лишим от животните.

and Ahab saith unto Obadiah, `Go through the land, unto all fountains of waters, and unto all the brooks, if so be we find hay, and keep alive horse and mule, and do not cut off any of the cattle.'

6 И тъй, те бяха разделили земята помежду си, за да я обиколят: Ахаав беше отишъл съм по един път, а Авдия беше отишъл сам по друг път.

And they apportion to themselves the land, to pass over into it; Ahab hath gone in one way by himself, and Obadiah hath gone in another way by himself;

7 И като беше Авдия на пътя, ето, Илия го срещна; и той го позна и падна на лице и рече: Ти ли си, господарю мой Илие:

and Obadiah in the way, and lo, Elijah -- to meet him; and he discerneth him, and falleth on his face, and saith, `Art thou he -- my lord Elijah?'

8 А той каза: Аз съм. Иди, кажи на господаря си: Ето Илия.

And he saith to him, `I; go, say to thy lord, Lo, Elijah.'

9 А той каза: В що съм съгрешил, та искаш да предадеш слугата си в ръката на Ахаава, за да ме убие?

And he saith, `What have I sinned, that thou art giving thy servant into the hand of Ahab -- to put me to death?

10 З аклевам ти се в живота на Господа твоя Бог, че няма народ или царство, гдето да не е пращал господарят ми да те търси; и когато кажеха: Няма го тук, той зеклеваше царството и народа, че не са те намерили.

Jehovah thy God liveth, if there is a nation and kingdom whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee; and they said, He is not, then he caused the kingdom and the nation to swear, that it doth not find thee;

11 А сега ти казваш: Иди, кажи на господаря си: Ето Илия.

and now, thou art saying, Go, say to thy lord, Lo, Elijah;

12 А щом се отделя от тебе, Господният Дух ще те отведе, гдето аз не знай; и така, когато отида да известя на Ахаава, че си тук, и той не те намери, ще ме убие. Но аз, твоят слуга, се боя от Господа още от младостта си.

and it hath been, I go from thee, and the Spirit of Jehovah doth lift thee up, whither I know not, and I have come to declare to Ahab, and he doth not find thee, and he hath slain me; and thy servant is fearing Jehovah from my youth.

13 Н е е ли известно на господаря ми що сторих, когато Езавел убиваше Господните пророци, как скрих сто души от Господните пророци, петдесет в една пещера и петдесет в друга, и храних ги с хляб и вода?

`Hath it not been declared to my lord that which I have done in Jezebel's slaying the prophets of Jehovah, that I hide of the prophets of Jehovah a hundred men, fifty by fifty in a cave, and sustained them with bread and water?

14 А сега ти казваш: Иди, кажи на господаря си: Ето Илия; и той ще ме убие!

and now thou art saying, Go, say to my lord, Lo, Elijah -- and he hath slain me!'

15 Н о Илия рече: Заклевам ти се в живота на Господа на Силите, Комуто служа, днес ще му се явя.

And Elijah saith, `Jehovah of Hosts liveth, before whom I have stood, surely to-day I appear unto him.'

16 И тъй, Авдия отиде да посрещне Ахаава и му извести. А Ахаав отиде да посрещне Илия.

And Obadiah goeth to meet Ahab, and declareth to him, and Ahab goeth to meet Elijah,

17 А като видя Илия, Ахаав му рече: Ти ли си, смутителю на Израиля?

and it cometh to pass at Ahab's seeing Elijah, that Ahab saith unto him, `Art thou he -- the troubler of Israel?'

18 А той отговори: Не смущавам аз Израиля, но ти и твоят бащин дом; защото вие оставихте Господните заповеди, и ти последва ваалимите.

And he saith, `I have not troubled Israel, but thou and the house of thy father, in your forsaking the commands of Jehovah, and thou goest after the Baalim;

19 С ега, прочее, прати та събери при мене целия Израил на планината Кармил, и четиристотин и петдесет Ваалови пророци, и четирите стотин пророци на Ашера, които ядат на Езавелината трапеза.

and now, send, gather unto me all Israel, unto the mount of Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the shrine, four hundred -- eating at the table of Jezebel.'

20 И така, Ахаав прати до всичките израилтяни та събра пророците на планината Кармил.

And Ahab sendeth among all the sons of Israel, and gathereth the prophets unto the mount of Carmel;

21 Т огава Илия дойде при всичките люде та рече: До кога ще се колебаете между две мнения? Иеова, ако е Бог, следвайте Го; но ако е Ваал, следвайте него. А людете не му отговориха ни дума.

and Elijah cometh nigh unto all the people, and saith, `Till when are ye leaping on the two branches? -- if Jehovah God, go after Him; and if Baal, go after him;' and the people have not answered him a word.

22 Т огава Илия рече на людете: Само аз останах Господен пророк; а Вааловите пророци са четиристотин и петдесет мъже.

And Elijah saith unto the people, `I -- I have been left a prophet of Jehovah -- by myself; and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty men;

23 Т е, прочее, нека ни дадат две юнеца; и нека изберат единия юнец за себе си, нека го разсекат и го турят на дървата, но огън да не турят отдолу; и аз ще приготвя другия юнец и ще го туря на дървата, но огън няма да туря отдолу.

and let them give to us two bullocks, and they choose for themselves the one bullock, and cut it in pieces, and place on the wood, and place no fire; and I -- I prepare the other bullock, and have put on the wood, and fire I do not place; --

24 Т огава вие призовете името на вашия бог, и аз ще призова името на Господа; и оня бог, който отговори с огън, той нека е Бог. И всичките люде в отговор казаха: Добро е каквото си казал.

and ye have called in the name of your god, and I -- I call in the name of Jehovah, and it hath been, the god who answereth by fire -- He the God.' And all the people answer and say, `Good the word.'

25 И тъй, Илия каза на Вааловите пророци: Изберете си единия юнец та го пригответе вие първо, защото сте мнозина; и призовете името на бога си, огън обаче не туряйте отдолу.

And Elijah saith to the prophets of Baal, `Choose for you the one bullock, and prepare first, for ye the multitude, and call ye in the name of your god, and place no fire.'

26 И те взеха юнеца, който им се даде, та го приготвиха, и призоваха името на Ваала от сутринта дори до пладне, като викаха: Послушай ни, Ваале! Но нямаше глас, нито кой да отговори; и те скачаха около жертвеника, който бяха издигнали.

And they take the bullock that gave to them, and prepare, and call in the name of Baal from the morning even till the noon, saying, `O Baal, answer us!' and there is no voice, and there is none answering; and they leap on the altar that one had made.

27 А около пладне Илия им се присмиваше като казваше: Викайте със силен глас, защото е бог! той или размишлява, или има някаква работа, или е на път, или - може би - спи и трябва да се събуди.

And it cometh to pass, at noon, that Elijah playeth on them, and saith, `Call with a loud voice, for he a god, for he is meditating, or pursuing, or on a journey; it may be he is asleep, an doth awake.'

28 И те викаха със силен глас и режеха се според обичая си с мечове и с ножове, догде бликна кръв от тях.

And they call with a loud voice, and cut themselves, according to their ordinance, with swords and with spears, till a flowing of blood on them;

29 И като мина пладне, те пророкуваха до часа на вечерния принос; но нямаше глас нито кой да отговори, нито кой да внимава.

and it cometh to pass, at the passing by of the noon, that they feign themselves prophets till the going up of the present, and there is no voice, and there is none answering, and there is none attending.

30 Т огава Илия каза на всичките люде: Приближете се при мене. И всичките люде се приближиха при него. И той поправи Господния олтар, който беше съборен;

And Elijah saith to all the people, `Come nigh unto me;' and all the people come nigh unto him, and he repaireth the altar of Jehovah that is broken down;

31 з ащото Илия взе дванадесет камъни, според числото на племената на синовете на Якова, към когото дойде Господното слово и рече: Израил ще бъде името ти.

and Elijah taketh twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of Jehovah was, saying, `Israel is thy name;'

32 И с камъните издигна олтар в Господното име; и около олтара направи окоп, доволно голям да побира две сати семе.

and he buildeth with the stones an altar, in the name of Jehovah, and maketh a trench, as about the space of two measures of seed, round about the altar.

33 И като нареди дървета, насече юнеца на късове та го положи на дърветата, и каза: Напълнете четири бъчви с вода, та излейте на всеизгарянето и на дървата.

And he arrangeth the wood, and cutteth in pieces the bullock, and placeth on the wood, and saith, `Fill ye four pitchers of water, and pour on the burnt-offering, and on the wood;

34 И рече: Повторете. И повториха.

and he saith, `Do a second time;' and they do a second time; and he saith, `Do a third time;' and they do a third time;

35 И водата обикаляше около олтара, още и окопът се напълни с вода.

and the water goeth round about the altar, and also, the trench he hath filled with water.

36 А в часа на вечерния принос, пророк Илия се приближи и каза: Господи, Боже Авраамов, Исаков и Израилев, нека стане известно днес, че Ти си Бог в Израиля, и аз Твой слуга, и че според Твоето слово аз сторих всички тия неща.

And it cometh to pass, at the going up of the present, that Elijah the prophet cometh nigh and saith, `Jehovah, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, to-day let it be known that Thou God in Israel, and I Thy servant, that by Thy word I have done the whole of these things;

37 П ослушай ме, Господи, послушай ме, за да познаят тия люде, че Ти, Господи, си Бог, и че Ти си възвърнал сърцата им надире.

answer me, O Jehovah, answer me, and this people doth know that Thou Jehovah God; and Thou hast turned their heart backward.'

38 Т огава огън от Господа падна та изгори всеизгарянето, дървата, камъните и пръстта, и облиза водата, която бе в окопа.

And there falleth a fire of Jehovah, and consumeth the burnt-offering, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and the water that in the trench it hath licked up.

39 И всичките люде, когато видяха това, паднаха на лицата си и рекоха: Иеова, Той е Бог; Иеова, Той е Бог.

And all the people see, and fall on their faces, and say, `Jehovah, He the God, Jehovah, He the God.'

40 И Илия им каза: Хванете Вааловите пророци; ни един от тях да не избяга. И хванаха ги; и Илия ги заведе при потока Кисон и там ги изкла.

And Elijah saith to them, `Catch ye the prophets of Baal; let not a man escape of them;' and they catch them, and Elijah bringeth them down unto the stream Kishon, and doth slaughter them there.

41 Т огава Илия каза на Ахаава: Качи се, яж и пий, защото се чува глас на изобилен дъжд.

And Elijah saith to Ahab, `Go up, eat and drink, because of the sound of the noise of the shower.'

42 И тъй, Ахаав възлезе да яде и да пие: а Илия се възкачи на връх Кармил, и като се наведе до земята тури лицето си между коленете си,

And Ahab goeth up to eat, and to drink, and Elijah hath gone up unto the top of Carmel, and he stretcheth himself out on the earth, and he placeth his face between his knees,

43 и рече на слугата си: Възлез сега, погледни към морето. И той възлезе та погледна и рече: Няма нищо. А Илия рече: Иди пак, до седем пъти.

and saith unto his young man, `Go up, I pray thee, look attentively the way of the sea;' and he goeth up and looketh attentively, and saith, `There is nothing;' and he saith, `Turn back,' seven times.

44 И седем пъти той рече: Ето, малък облак колкото човешка длан, се издига от морето. Тогава Илия каза: Иди, кажи на Ахаава: Впрегни колесницата си та слез, за да те не спре дъждът.

And it cometh to pass, at the seventh, that he saith, `Lo, a little thickness as the palm of a man is coming up out of the sea.' And he saith, `Go up, say unto Ahab, `Bind -- and go down, and the shower doth not restrain thee.'

45 А между това небето се помрачи от облаци и вятър, и заваля силен дъжд. И Ахаав, возейки се, отида в Езраил.

And it cometh to pass, in the meantime, that the heavens have become black -- thick clouds and wind -- and the shower is great; and Ahab rideth, and goeth to Jezreel,

46 И Господната ръка, бидейки върху Илия, той стегна кръста си, та се завтече пред Ахаава до входа на Езраел.

and the hand of Jehovah hath been on Elijah, and he girdeth up his loins, and runneth before Ahab, till thine entering Jezreel.
