1 Д о това време Саул беше царувал една година; а като царува две години над Израиля,

A son of a year Saul in his reigning, yea, two years he hath reigned over Israel,

2 С аул си избра три хиляди мъже от Израиля, от които две хиляди бяха със Саула в Михмас и в хълма Ветил, а хиляда бяха с Ионатан в Гавая Вениаминова; а останалата част от людете изпрати, всеки в шатъра му.

and Saul chooseth for himself three thousand out of Israel; and two thousand are with Saul in Michmash, and in the hill-country of Beth-El; and a thousand have been with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin; and the remnant of the people he hath sent each to his tents.

3 И Ионатан порази филистимския гарнизон, който беше в Гава и филистимците чуха.

And Jonathan smiteth the garrison of the Philistines which in Geba, and the Philistines hear, and Saul hath blown with a trumpet through all the land, saying, `Let the Hebrews hear.'

4 И така, целият Израил чу да говорят, бе Саул поразил филистимския гарнизон, и че Израил станал омразен на филистимците. И людете се събраха в Галгал да следват Саула.

And all Israel have heard, saying, `Saul hath smitten the garrison of the Philistines,' and also, `Israel hath been abhorred by the Philistines;' and the people are called after Saul to Gilgal.

5 А филистимците се събраха да се бият с Израиля, тридесет хиляди колесници и шест хиляди конници и люде по множество, като пясъка край морския бряг; и възлязоха та разположиха стан в Михмас, на изток от Ветавен.

And the Philistines have been gathered to fight with Israel; thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and a people as the sand which on the sea-shore for multitude; and they come up and encamp in Michmash, east of Beth-Aven.

6 К огато Израилевите мъже видяха, че бяха поставени на тясно, (защото людете бяха на тясно), тогова людете се скриха в пещерите, в гъсталаците, в скалите, в канарите и в рововете.

And the men of Israel have seen that they are distressed, that the people hath been oppressed, and the people hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.

7 И някои от евреите преминаха Иордан към Гадовата и Галаадската земя. А колкото за Саула, той беше още в Галгал; и всичките люде вървяха подир него с трепет.

And Hebrews have passed over the Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead; and Saul yet in Gilgal, and all the people have trembled after him.

8 И чака седем дена, според определеното от Самуила време; а понеже Самуил не беше дошъл в Галгал, и людете се разпръсваха от него,

And he waiteth seven days, according to the appointment with Samuel, and Samuel hath not come to Gilgal, and the people are scattered from off him.

9 з атова рече Саул: Донесете тука при мене всеизгарянето и примирителните приноси. И той принесе всеизгарянето.

And Saul saith, `Bring nigh unto me the burnt-offering, and the peace-offerings;' and he causeth the burnt-offering to ascend.

10 И щом свърши принасянето на всеизгарянето, ето, Самуил дойде; и Саул излезе да го посрещне и да го поздрави.

And it cometh to pass at his completing to cause the burnt-offering to ascend, that lo, Samuel hath come, and Saul goeth out to meet him, to bless him;

11 А Самуил каза: Що стори ти? И Саул рече: Понеже видях, че людете се разпръсваха от мана, и че ти не дойде на определеното време, а филистимците се събраха в Михмас,

and Samuel saith, `What hast thou done?' And Saul saith, `Because I saw that the people were scattered from off me, and thou hadst not come at the appointment of the days, and the Philistines are gathered to Michmash,

12 з атова си рекох, сега филистимците ще нападнат върху мене в Галгал, а пък аз не съм отправил молба към Господа; и тъй, дръзнах та принесох всеизгарянето.

and I say, Now do the Philistines come down unto me to Gilgal, and the face of Jehovah I have not appeased; and I force myself, and cause the burnt-offering to ascend.'

13 И Самуил каза на Саула: Безумие си сторил ти, гдето не опази повелението, което Господ твоят Бог ти заповяда; защото Господ щеше сега да утвърди царството ти над Израиля до века.

And Samuel saith unto Saul, `Thou hast been foolish; thou hast not kept the command of Jehovah thy God, which He commanded thee, for now had Jehovah established thy kingdom over Israel unto the age;

14 Н о сега царството ти няма да трае; Господ си потърси човек според сърцето Си, и него определи да бъде княз над людете Му, понеже ти не опази онова, което Господ ти заповяда.

and, now, thy kingdom doth not stand, Jehovah hath sought for Himself a man according to His own heart, and Jehovah chargeth him for leader over His people, for thou hast not kept that which Jehovah commanded thee.'

15 Т огава Самуил стана та отиде от Галгал в Гавая Вениаминова. А Саул преброи людете, които се намираха с него; и те бяха около шестотин мъже.

And Samuel riseth, and goeth up from Gilgal to Gibeah of Benjamin; and Saul inspecteth the people who are found with him, about six hundred men,

16 С аул и син му Ионатан и людете, които се намираха с тях, седяха в Гавая Вениаминова; а филистимците бяха разположили стан в Михмас.

and Saul, and Jonathan his son, and the people who are found with them, are abiding in Gibeah of Benjamin, and the Philistines have encamped in Michmash.

17 И от филистимския стан излязоха три чети грабители; една чета се отправи по пътя за Офра към земята Согал;

And the destroyer goeth out from the camp of the Philistines -- three detachments; the one detachment turneth unto the way of Ophrah, unto the land of Shual;

18 д руга чета се отправи по пътя за Веторон; а друга чета се отправи по пътя за околността, който гледа към долината Севоим къде пустинята.

and the one detachment turneth the way of Beth-Horon, and the one detachment turneth the way of the border which is looking on the valley of the Zeboim, toward the wilderness.

19 А в цялата Израилева земя не се намираше ковач, защото филистимците рекоха: Да не би евреите да си направят мечове или копия,

And an artificer is not found in all the land of Israel, for the Philistines said, `Lest the Hebrews make sword or spear;'

20 н о всичките израилтяни слизаха при филистимците, за да наклепят всеки търнокопа си, палешника си, брадвата си и мотиката си.

and all Israel go down to the Philistines, to sharpen each his ploughshare, and his coulter, and his axe, and his mattock;

21 О баче, имаха пила за търнокопите, палешниците, тризъбците и брадвите, и за да острят остените.

and there hath been the file for mattocks, and for coulters, and for three-pronged rakes, and for the axes, and to set up the goads.

22 З атова, в деня на боя не се намираше нито нож, ни копие в ръката на някого от людете, които бяха със Саула и Ионатана; в Саула, обаче, и в сина му Ионатана намериха се.

And it hath been, in the day of battle, that there hath not been found sword and spear in the hand of any of the people who with Saul and with Jonathan -- and there is found to Saul and to Jonathan his son.

23 А филистимския гарнизон излезе към прохода Михмас.

And the station of the Philistines goeth out unto the passage of Michmash.
