1 E ntonces se congregó todo Israel alrededor de David en Hebrón, y le dijeron: “Mire, somos hueso suyo y carne suya.

Then all Israel gathered to David at Hebron and said, “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.

2 Y a de antes, cuando Saúl aún era rey, usted era el que sacaba a Israel y el que lo volvía a traer. Y el Señor su Dios le dijo: ‘Tú pastorearás a Mi pueblo Israel, y serás príncipe sobre Mi pueblo Israel.’”

In times past, even when Saul was king, you were the one who led out and brought in Israel; and the Lord your God said to you, ‘ You shall shepherd My people Israel, and you shall be prince over My people Israel.’”

3 V inieron, pues, todos los ancianos de Israel al rey en Hebrón, y David hizo un pacto con ellos en Hebrón delante del Señor; luego ungieron a David como rey sobre Israel, conforme a la palabra del Señor por medio de Samuel.

So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord through Samuel. Jerusalem, Capital City

4 E ntonces David fue con todo Israel a Jerusalén, es decir, Jebús, y allí estaban los Jebuseos, habitantes de la tierra.

Then David and all Israel went to Jerusalem ( that is, Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there.

5 L os habitantes de Jebús dijeron a David: “Usted no entrará aquí.” Pero David capturó la fortaleza de Sion, es decir, la ciudad de David.

The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You shall not enter here.” Nevertheless David captured the stronghold of Zion (that is, the city of David).

6 Y David había dicho: “El que primero hiera a un Jebuseo será jefe y comandante.” Y Joab, hijo de Sarvia, subió primero, y fue hecho jefe.

Now David had said, “Whoever strikes down a Jebusite first shall be chief and commander.” Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, so he became chief.

7 D avid habitó en la fortaleza; por tanto fue llamada la ciudad de David.

Then David dwelt in the stronghold; therefore it was called the city of David.

8 Y edificó la ciudad alrededor, desde el Milo (la ciudadela) hasta la muralla que la rodeaba; y Joab reparó el resto de la ciudad.

He built the city all around, from the Millo even to the surrounding area; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.

9 D avid se engrandecía cada vez más, y el Señor de los ejércitos estaba con él. Los Valientes de David

David became greater and greater, for the Lord of hosts was with him. David’s Mighty Men

10 E stos son los jefes de los valientes que tenía David, quienes le dieron fuerte apoyo en su reino, junto con todo Israel, para hacerlo rey, conforme a la palabra del Señor concerniente a Israel.

Now these are the heads of the mighty men whom David had, who gave him strong support in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.

11 Y éstos constituyen la lista de los valientes que tenía David: Jasobeam, hijo de Hacmoni, jefe de los treinta; él blandió su lanza contra 300 a los cuales mató de una sola vez.

These constitute the list of the mighty men whom David had: Jashobeam, the son of a Hachmonite, the chief of the thirty; he lifted up his spear against three hundred whom he killed at one time.

12 D espués de él, Eleazar, hijo de Dodo el Ahohíta; él era uno de los tres valientes.

After him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighty men.

13 E l estaba con David en Pasdamim cuando los Filisteos se reunieron allí para la batalla; y había una parcela llena de cebada, y el pueblo huyó delante de los Filisteos,

He was with David at Pasdammim when the Philistines were gathered together there to battle, and there was a plot of ground full of barley; and the people fled before the Philistines.

14 y se apostaron en medio de la parcela, y la defendieron e hirieron a los Filisteos; y el Señor los salvó con una gran victoria (salvación).

They took their stand in the midst of the plot and defended it, and struck down the Philistines; and the Lord saved them by a great victory.

15 T res de los treinta jefes descendieron a la roca donde estaba David, en la cueva de Adulam, mientras el ejército de los Filisteos acampaba en el Valle de Refaim.

Now three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam, while the army of the Philistines was camping in the valley of Rephaim.

16 D avid estaba entonces en la fortaleza, mientras la guarnición de los Filisteos estaba en Belén (Casa del Pan).

David was then in the stronghold, while the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.

17 D avid sintió un gran deseo, y dijo: “¡Quién me diera a beber agua del pozo de Belén que está junto a la puerta!”

David had a craving and said, “Oh that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!”

18 E ntonces los tres se abrieron paso por el campamento de los Filisteos, y sacando agua del pozo de Belén que estaba junto a la puerta, se la llevaron y la trajeron a David; pero David no quiso beberla, sino que la derramó para el Señor,

So the three broke through the camp of the Philistines and drew water from the well of Bethlehem which was by the gate, and took it and brought it to David; nevertheless David would not drink it, but poured it out to the Lord;

19 y dijo: “Lejos esté de mí que haga tal cosa delante de mi Dios. ¿Beberé la sangre de estos hombres que fueron con riesgo de sus vidas? Porque con riesgo de sus vidas la trajeron.” Por eso no quiso beberla. Estas cosas hicieron los tres valientes.

and he said, “Be it far from me before my God that I should do this. Shall I drink the blood of these men who went at the risk of their lives? For at the risk of their lives they brought it.” Therefore he would not drink it. These things the three mighty men did.

20 Y Abisai, hermano de Joab, era el primero de los treinta, y blandió su lanza contra 300 y los mató; y él tuvo tanto renombre como los tres.

As for Abshai the brother of Joab, he was chief of the thirty, and he swung his spear against three hundred and killed them; and he had a name as well as the thirty.

21 D e los treinta en el segundo grupo, él fue el más distinguido y llegó a ser capitán de ellos; pero no igualó a los tres primeros.

Of the three in the second rank he was the most honored and became their commander; however, he did not attain to the first three.

22 B enaía, hijo de Joiada, hijo de un valiente de Cabseel, de grandes hazañas, mató a los dos hijos de Ariel de Moab. Y él descendió y mató a un león en medio de un foso un día que estaba nevando.

Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, mighty in deeds, struck down the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion inside a pit on a snowy day.

23 T ambién mató a un Egipcio, un hombre grande de 2. 25 metros de estatura; y en la mano del Egipcio había una lanza como un rodillo de tejedor, pero Benaía descendió a él con un palo, y arrebatando la lanza de la mano del Egipcio, lo mató con su propia lanza.

He killed an Egyptian, a man of great stature five cubits tall. Now in the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam, but he went down to him with a club and snatched the spear from the Egyptian’s hand and killed him with his own spear.

24 E stas cosas hizo Benaía, hijo de Joiada, y tuvo tanto renombre como los tres valientes.

These things Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did, and had a name as well as the three mighty men.

25 E l fue el más distinguido entre los treinta, pero no igualó a los tres; y David lo puso sobre su guardia.

Behold, he was honored among the thirty, but he did not attain to the three; and David appointed him over his guard.

26 Y los valientes de los ejércitos fueron Asael, hermano de Joab, Elhanan, hijo de Dodo de Belén,

Now the mighty men of the armies were Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,
