1 “ Estos, pues, son los mandamientos, los estatutos y los decretos que el Señor su Dios me ha mandado que les enseñe, para que los cumplan en la tierra que van a poseer,

“Now this is the commandment, the statutes and the judgments which the Lord your God has commanded me to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you are going over to possess it,

2 p ara que temas al Señor tu Dios, guardando todos Sus estatutos y Sus mandamientos que yo te ordeno, tú y tus hijos y tus nietos, todos los días de tu vida, para que tus días sean prolongados.

so that you and your son and your grandson might fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.

3 E scucha, pues, oh Israel, y cuida de hacer lo, para que te vaya bien y te multipliques en gran manera, en una tierra que mana leche y miel, tal como el Señor, el Dios de tus padres, te ha prometido.

O Israel, you should listen and be careful to do it, that it may be well with you and that you may multiply greatly, just as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

4 “ Escucha, oh Israel, el Señor es nuestro Dios, el Señor uno es.

“ Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one!

5 A marás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma y con toda tu fuerza.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

6 E stas palabras que yo te mando hoy, estarán sobre tu corazón.

These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart.

7 L as enseñarás diligentemente a tus hijos, y hablarás de ellas cuando te sientes en tu casa y cuando andes por el camino, cuando te acuestes y cuando te levantes.

You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.

8 L as atarás como una señal a tu mano, y serán por insignias entre tus ojos.

You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.

9 L as escribirás en los postes de tu casa y en tus puertas.

You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

10 “ Y sucederá que cuando el Señor tu Dios te traiga a la tierra que juró a tus padres Abraham, Isaac y Jacob, que te daría, una tierra con grandes y espléndidas ciudades que tú no edificaste,

“Then it shall come about when the Lord your God brings you into the land which He swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you, great and splendid cities which you did not build,

11 y casas llenas de toda buena cosa que tú no llenaste, y cisternas cavadas que tú no cavaste, viñas y olivos que tú no plantaste, y comas y te sacies;

and houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and hewn cisterns which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, and you eat and are satisfied,

12 e ntonces ten cuidado, no sea que te olvides del Señor que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de servidumbre (de esclavos).

then watch yourself, that you do not forget the Lord who brought you from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

13 T emerás (Reverenciarás) sólo al Señor tu Dios; y a El adorarás (servirás) y jurarás por Su nombre.

You shall fear only the Lord your God; and you shall worship Him and swear by His name.

14 N o seguirán a otros dioses, a ninguno de los dioses de los pueblos que los rodean,

You shall not follow other gods, any of the gods of the peoples who surround you,

15 p orque el Señor tu Dios, que está en medio de ti, es Dios celoso, no sea que se encienda la ira del Señor tu Dios contra ti, y El te borre de la superficie de la tierra.

for the Lord your God in the midst of you is a jealous God; otherwise the anger of the Lord your God will be kindled against you, and He will wipe you off the face of the earth.

16 “ No pondrán a prueba al Señor su Dios, como Lo hicieron en Masah.

“ You shall not put the Lord your God to the test, as you tested Him at Massah.

17 U stedes deben guardar diligentemente los mandamientos del Señor su Dios, y Sus testimonios y Sus estatutos que te ha mandado.

You should diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and His testimonies and His statutes which He has commanded you.

18 H arás lo que es justo y bueno a los ojos del Señor, para que te vaya bien, y para que entres y tomes posesión de la buena tierra que el Señor juró que daría a tus padres,

You shall do what is right and good in the sight of the Lord, that it may be well with you and that you may go in and possess the good land which the Lord swore to give your fathers,

19 e chando fuera a todos tus enemigos de delante de ti, como el Señor ha dicho.

by driving out all your enemies from before you, as the Lord has spoken.

20 “ Cuando en el futuro tu hijo te pregunte: ‘¿Qué significan los testimonios y los estatutos y los decretos que el Señor nuestro Dios les ha mandado?’

“ When your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What do the testimonies and the statutes and the judgments mean which the Lord our God commanded you?’

21 e ntonces dirás a tu hijo: ‘Nosotros éramos esclavos de Faraón en Egipto, y el Señor nos sacó de Egipto con mano fuerte.

then you shall say to your son, ‘We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt, and the Lord brought us from Egypt with a mighty hand.

22 A demás, el Señor hizo grandes y temibles señales y maravillas delante de nuestros ojos contra Egipto, contra Faraón y contra toda su casa;

Moreover, the Lord showed great and distressing signs and wonders before our eyes against Egypt, Pharaoh and all his household;

23 y nos sacó de allí para traernos y darnos la tierra que El había jurado dar a nuestros padres (antepasados).’

He brought us out from there in order to bring us in, to give us the land which He had sworn to our fathers.’

24 A sí que el Señor nos mandó que observáramos todos estos estatutos, y que temiéramos siempre al Señor nuestro Dios para nuestro bien y para preservarnos la vida, como hasta hoy.

So the Lord commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God for our good always and for our survival, as it is today.

25 Y habrá justicia para nosotros si cuidamos de observar todos estos mandamientos delante del Señor nuestro Dios, tal como El nos ha mandado.

It will be righteousness for us if we are careful to observe all this commandment before the Lord our God, just as He commanded us.
