1 E ntonces llamó Moisés a todo Israel y les dijo: “Oye, oh Israel, los estatutos y ordenanzas que hablo hoy a oídos de ustedes, para que los aprendan y pongan por obra.

Then Moses summoned all Israel and said to them: “Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the ordinances which I am speaking today in your hearing, that you may learn them and observe them carefully.

2 E l Señor nuestro Dios hizo un pacto con nosotros en Horeb.

The Lord our God made a covenant with us at Horeb.

3 N o hizo el Señor este pacto con nuestros padres, sino con nosotros, con todos aquellos de nosotros que estamos vivos aquí hoy.

The Lord did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, with all those of us alive here today.

4 C ara a cara el Señor habló con ustedes en el monte de en medio del fuego,

The Lord spoke to you face to face at the mountain from the midst of the fire,

5 m ientras yo estaba en aquella ocasión entre el Señor y ustedes para declararles la palabra del Señor, porque temían a causa del fuego y no subieron al monte. Y El dijo:

while I was standing between the Lord and you at that time, to declare to you the word of the Lord; for you were afraid because of the fire and did not go up the mountain. He said,

6 Y o soy el Señor tu Dios, que te saqué de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de servidumbre (de esclavos).

‘ I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

7 N o tendrás otros dioses delante de Mí.

‘ You shall have no other gods before Me.

8 N o te harás ningún ídolo, ni semejanza alguna de lo que está arriba en el cielo, ni abajo en la tierra, ni en las aguas debajo de la tierra.

‘ You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.

9 N o los adorarás ni los servirás; porque Yo, el Señor tu Dios, soy Dios celoso, que castigo la iniquidad de los padres sobre los hijos, y sobre la tercera y la cuarta generación de los que Me aborrecen,

You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,

10 p ero que muestro misericordia a millares, a los que Me aman y guardan Mis mandamientos.

but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

11 N o tomarás en vano el nombre del Señor tu Dios, porque el Señor no tendrá por inocente a quien tome Su nombre en vano.

‘ You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.

12 G uardarás el día de reposo para santificarlo, como el Señor tu Dios lo ha mandado.

‘ Observe the sabbath day to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you.

13 S eis días trabajarás y harás todo tu trabajo,

Six days you shall labor and do all your work,

14 m as el séptimo día es día de reposo para el Señor tu Dios; no harás en él ningún trabajo, tú, ni tu hijo, ni tu hija, ni tu siervo, ni tu sierva, ni tu buey, ni tu asno, ni ninguno de tus animales, ni el extranjero que está contigo, para que tu siervo y tu sierva también descansen como tú.

but the seventh day is a sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter or your male servant or your female servant or your ox or your donkey or any of your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you, so that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you.

15 A cuérdate que fuiste esclavo en la tierra de Egipto, y que el Señor tu Dios te sacó de allí con mano fuerte y brazo extendido; por tanto, el Señor tu Dios te ha ordenado que guardes el día de reposo.

You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the Lord your God commanded you to observe the sabbath day.

16 H onra a tu padre y a tu madre, como el Señor tu Dios te ha mandado, para que tus días sean prolongados y te vaya bien en la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da.

‘ Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, that your days may be prolonged and that it may go well with you on the land which the Lord your God gives you.

17 N o matarás.

‘ You shall not murder.

18 N o cometerás adulterio.

‘ You shall not commit adultery.

19 N o hurtarás.

‘ You shall not steal.

20 N o darás falso testimonio contra tu prójimo.

‘ You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

21 N o codiciarás la mujer de tu prójimo, y no desearás la casa de tu prójimo, ni su campo, ni su siervo, ni su sierva, ni su buey, ni su asno, ni nada que sea de tu prójimo.’

‘ You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, and you shall not desire your neighbor’s house, his field or his male servant or his female servant, his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.’ Moses Interceded

22 “ Estas palabras habló el Señor a toda la asamblea de ustedes en el monte, de en medio del fuego, de la nube y de las densas tinieblas con una gran voz, y no añadió más. Y las escribió en dos tablas de piedra y me las dio.

“These words the Lord spoke to all your assembly at the mountain from the midst of the fire, of the cloud and of the thick gloom, with a great voice, and He added no more. He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.

23 Y cuando ustedes oyeron la voz de en medio de las tinieblas, mientras el monte ardía con fuego, se acercaron a mí, todos los jefes de sus tribus y sus ancianos,

And when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, you came near to me, all the heads of your tribes and your elders.

24 y dijeron: ‘El Señor nuestro Dios nos ha mostrado Su gloria y Su grandeza, y hemos oído Su voz de en medio del fuego; hoy hemos visto que Dios habla con el hombre, y éste aún vive.

You said, ‘Behold, the Lord our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire; we have seen today that God speaks with man, yet he lives.

25 A hora pues, ¿por qué hemos de morir? Porque este gran fuego nos consumirá; si seguimos oyendo la voz del Señor nuestro Dios, entonces moriremos.

Now then why should we die? For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of the Lord our God any longer, then we will die.

26 P orque, ¿qué hombre hay que haya oído la voz del Dios vivo hablando de en medio del fuego, como nosotros, y haya sobrevivido ?

For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living God speaking from the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?

27 A cércate tú, y oye lo que el Señor nuestro Dios dice; entonces dinos todo lo que el Señor nuestro Dios te diga, y lo escucharemos y lo haremos.’

Go near and hear all that the Lord our God says; then speak to us all that the Lord our God speaks to you, and we will hear and do it.’

28 “ El Señor oyó la voz de las palabras de ustedes cuando me hablaron y el Señor me dijo: ‘He oído la voz de las palabras de este pueblo, que ellos te han hablado. Han hecho bien en todo lo que han dicho.

“The Lord heard the voice of your words when you spoke to me, and the Lord said to me, ‘I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they have spoken to you. They have done well in all that they have spoken.

29 ¡ Oh si ellos tuvieran tal corazón que Me temieran, y guardaran siempre todos Mis mandamientos, para que les fuera bien a ellos y a sus hijos para siempre!

Oh that they had such a heart in them, that they would fear Me and keep all My commandments always, that it may be well with them and with their sons forever!

30 V e y diles: “Vuelvan a sus tiendas.”

Go, say to them, “Return to your tents.”

31 P ero tú, quédate aquí conmigo, para que Yo te diga todos los mandamientos, los estatutos y los decretos que les enseñarás, a fin de que los cumplan en la tierra que les doy en posesión.’

But as for you, stand here by Me, that I may speak to you all the commandments and the statutes and the judgments which you shall teach them, that they may observe them in the land which I give them to possess.’

32 A sí que cuiden de hacer tal como el Señor su Dios les ha mandado; no se desvíen a la derecha ni a la izquierda.

So you shall observe to do just as the Lord your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right or to the left.

33 A nden en todo el camino que el Señor su Dios les ha mandado, a fin de que vivan y les vaya bien, y prolonguen sus días en la tierra que van a poseer.

You shall walk in all the way which the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you will possess.
