1 D êem graças ao Senhor porque ele é bom; o seu amor dura para sempre.

Give ye thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good; for his loving-kindness for ever.

2 A ssim o digam os que o Senhor resgatou, os que livrou das mãos do adversário,

Let the redeemed of Jehovah say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the oppressor,

3 e reuniu de outras terras, do oriente e do ocidente, do norte e do sul.

And gathered out of the countries, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the sea.

4 P erambularam pelo deserto e por terras áridas sem encontrar cidade habitada.

They wandered in the wilderness in a desert way, they found no city of habitation;

5 E stavam famintos e sedentos; sua vida ia se esvaindo.

Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them:

6 N a sua aflição, clamaram ao Senhor, e ele os livrou da tribulação em que se encontravam

Then they cried unto Jehovah in their trouble, he delivered them out of their distresses,

7 e os conduziu por caminho seguro a uma cidade habitada.

And he led them forth by a right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

8 Q ue eles dêem graças ao Senhor por seu amor leal e por suas maravilhas em favor dos homens,

Let them give thanks unto Jehovah for his loving-kindness, and for his wondrous works to the children of men;

9 p orque ele sacia o sedento e satisfaz plenamente o faminto.

For he hath satisfied the longing soul and filled the hungry soul with good.

10 A ssentaram-se nas trevas e na sombra mortal, aflitos, acorrentados,

Such as inhabit darkness and the shadow of death, bound in affliction and iron,

11 p ois se rebelaram contra as palavras de Deus e desprezaram os desígnios do Altíssimo.

Because they had rebelled against the words of God, and had despised the counsel of the Most High; …

12 P or isso ele os sujeitou a trabalhos pesados; eles tropeçaram, e não houve quem os ajudasse.

And he bowed down their heart with labour; they stumbled, and there was none to help:

13 N a sua aflição, clamaram ao Senhor, e eles os salvou da tribulação em que se encontravam.

Then they cried unto Jehovah in their trouble, he saved them out of their distresses;

14 E le os tirou das trevas e da sombra mortal, e quebrou as correntes que os prendiam.

He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bands in sunder.

15 Q ue eles dêem graças ao Senhor, por seu amor leal e por suas maravilhas em favor dos homens,

Let them give thanks unto Jehovah for his loving-kindness, and for his wondrous works to the children of men;

16 p orque despedaçou as portas de bronze e rompeu as trancas de ferro.

For he hath broken the gates of bronze, and cut asunder the bars of iron.

17 T ornaram-se tolos por causa dos seus caminhos rebeldes, e sofreram por causa das suas maldades.

Fools, because of their way of transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted;

18 S entiram repugnância por toda comida e chegaram perto das portas da morte.

Their soul abhorreth all manner of food, and they draw near unto the gates of death:

19 N a sua aflição, clamaram ao Senhor, e ele os salvou da tribulação em que se encontravam.

Then they cry unto Jehovah in their trouble, he saveth them out of their distresses;

20 E le enviou a sua palavra e os curou, e os livrou da morte.

He sendeth his word, and healeth them, and delivereth them from their destructions.

21 Q ue eles dêem graças ao Senhor, por seu amor leal e por suas maravilhas em favor dos homens.

Let them give thanks unto Jehovah for his loving-kindness, and for his wondrous works to the children of men,

22 Q ue eles ofereçam sacrifícios de ação de graças e anunciem as suas obras com cânticos de alegria.

And let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works in joyful song.

23 F izeram-se ao mar em navios, para negócios na imensidão das águas,

They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters,

24 e viram as obras do Senhor, as suas maravilhas nas profundezas.

These see the works of Jehovah, and his wonders in the deep.

25 D eus falou e provocou um vendaval que levantava as ondas.

For he speaketh, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof:

26 S ubiam aos céus e desciam aos abismos; diante de tal perigo, perderam a coragem.

They mount up to the heavens, they go down to the depths; their soul is melted because of trouble;

27 C ambaleavam, tontos como bêbados, e toda a sua habilidade foi inútil.

They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and they are at their wits' end:

28 N a sua aflição, clamaram ao Senhor, e ele os tirou da tribulação em que se encontravam.

Then they cry unto Jehovah in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses;

29 R eduziu a tempestade a uma brisa e serenou as ondas.

He maketh the storm a calm, and the waves thereof are still:

30 A s ondas sossegaram, eles se alegraram, e Deus os guiou ao porto almejado.

And they rejoice because they are quiet; and he bringeth them unto their desired haven.

31 Q ue eles dêem graças ao Senhor por seu amor leal e por suas maravilhas em favor dos homens.

Let them give thanks unto Jehovah for his loving-kindness, and for his wondrous works to the children of men;

32 Q ue o exaltem na assembléia do povo e o louvem na reunião dos líderes.

Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the session of the elders.

33 E le transforma os rios em deserto e as fontes em terra seca,

He maketh rivers into a wilderness, and water-springs into dry ground;

34 f az da terra fértil um solo estéril, por causa da maldade dos seus moradores.

A fruitful land into a plain of salt, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

35 T ransforma o deserto em açudes e a terra ressecada, em fontes.

He maketh the wilderness into a pool of water, and the dry land into water-springs;

36 A li ele assenta os famintos, para fundarem uma cidade habitável,

And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, and they establish a city of habitation;

37 s emearem lavouras, plantarem vinhas e colherem uma grande safra.

And sow fields, and plant vineyards, which yield fruits of increase;

38 E le os abençoa, e eles se multiplicam; e não deixa que os seus rebanhos diminuam.

And he blesseth them, so that they are multiplied greatly; and he suffereth not their cattle to decrease.

39 Q uando, porém, reduzidos, são humilhados com opressão, desgraça e tristeza.

And they are diminished and brought low, through oppression, adversity, and sorrow:

40 D eus derrama desprezo sobre os nobres e os faz vagar num deserto sem caminhos.

He poureth contempt upon nobles, and causeth them to wander in a pathless waste;

41 M as tira os pobres da miséria e aumenta as suas famílias como rebanhos.

But he secureth the needy one on high from affliction, and maketh families like flocks.

42 O s justos vêem tudo isso e se alegram, mas todos os perversos se calam.

The upright shall see it, and rejoice; and all unrighteousness shall stop its mouth.

43 R eflitam nisso os sábios e considerem a bondade do Senhor.

Whoso is wise, let him observe these things, and let them understand the loving-kindnesses of Jehovah.
