1 O uve-me, ó Deus, quando faço a minha queixa; protege a minha vida do inimigo ameaçador.

Hear, O God, my voice in my plaint; preserve my life from fear of the enemy:

2 D efende-me da conspiração dos ímpios e da ruidosa multidão de malfeitores.

Hide me from the secret counsel of evil-doers, from the tumultuous crowd of the workers of iniquity,

3 E les afiam a língua como espada e apontam, como flechas, palavras envenenadas.

Who have sharpened their tongue like a sword, have aimed their arrow, a bitter word;

4 D e onde estão emboscados atiram no homem íntegro; atiram de surpresa, sem qualquer temor.

That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

5 A nimam-se uns aos outros com planos malignos, combinam como ocultar as suas armadilhas, e dizem: “Quem as verá?”

They encourage themselves in an evil matter, they concert to hide snares; they say, Who will see them?

6 T ramam a injustiça e dizem: “Fizemos um plano perfeito!” A mente e o coração de cada um deles o encobrem!

They devise iniquities: We have it ready, the plan is diligently sought out. And each one's inward and heart is deep.

7 M as Deus atirará neles suas flechas; repentinamente serão atingidos.

But God will shoot an arrow at them: suddenly are they wounded;

8 P elas próprias palavras farão cair uns aos outros; menearão a cabeça e zombarão deles todos os que os virem.

By their own tongue they are made to fall over one another: all that see them shall flee away.

9 T odos os homens temerão, e proclamarão as obras de Deus, refletindo no que ele fez.

And all men shall fear, and shall declare God's doing; and they shall wisely consider his work.

10 A legrem-se os justos no Senhor e nele busquem refúgio; congratulem-se todos os retos de coração!

The righteous shall rejoice in Jehovah, and trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
