1 D isse ainda o Senhor a Jó:

And Jehovah answered Job and said,

2 “ Aquele que contende com o Todo-poderoso poderá repreendê-lo? Que responda a Deus aquele que o acusa!”

Shall he that will contend with the Almighty instruct ? he that reproveth +God, let him answer it.

3 E ntão Jó respondeu ao Senhor:

And Job answered Jehovah and said,

4 “ Sou indigno; como posso responder-te? Ponho a mão sobre a minha boca.

Behold, I am nought: what shall I answer thee? I will lay my hand upon my mouth.

5 F alei uma vez, mas não tenho resposta; sim, duas vezes, mas não direi mais nada”.

Once have I spoken, and I will not answer; yea twice, but I will proceed no further.

6 D epois, o Senhor falou a Jó do meio da tempestade:

And Jehovah answered Job out of the whirlwind and said,

7 “ Prepare-se como simples homem que é; eu lhe farei perguntas, e você me responderá.

Gird up now thy loins like a man: I will demand of thee, and inform thou me.

8 “ Você vai pôr em dúvida a minha justiça? Vai condenar-me para justificar-se?

Wilt thou also annul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me that thou mayest be righteous?

9 S eu braço é como o de Deus, e sua voz pode trovejar como a dele?

Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

10 A dorne-se, então, de esplendor e glória, e vista-se de majestade e honra.

Deck thyself now with glory and excellency, and clothe thyself with majesty and splendour.

11 D errame a fúria da sua ira, olhe para todo orgulhoso e lance-o por terra,

Cast abroad the ragings of thine anger, and look on every one that is proud, and abase him:

12 o lhe para todo orgulhoso e humilhe-o, esmague os ímpios onde estiverem.

Look on every one that is proud, bring him low, and tread down the wicked in their place:

13 E nterre-os todos juntos no pó; encubra os rostos deles no túmulo.

Hide them in the dust together; bind their faces in secret.

14 E ntão admitirei que a sua mão direita pode salvar você.

Then will I also praise thee, because thy right hand saveth thee.

15 “ Veja o Beemote que criei quando criei você e que come capim como o boi.

See now the behemoth, which I made with thee: he eateth grass as an ox.

16 Q ue força ele tem em seus lombos! Que poder nos músculos do seu ventre!

Behold now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the muscles of his belly.

17 S ua cauda balança como o cedro; os nervos de suas coxas são firmemente entrelaçados.

He bendeth his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are woven together.

18 S eus ossos são canos de bronze, seus membros são varas de ferro.

His bones are tubes of bronze, his members are like bars of iron.

19 E le ocupa o primeiro lugar entre as obras de Deus. No entanto, o seu Criador pode chegar a ele com sua espada.

He is the chief of God's ways: he that made him gave him his sword.

20 O s montes lhe oferecem tudo o que produzem, e todos os animais selvagens brincam por perto.

For the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

21 S ob os lotos se deita, oculto entre os juncos do brejo.

He lieth under lotus-bushes, in the covert of the reed and fen:

22 O s lotos o escondem à sua sombra; os salgueiros junto ao regato o cercam.

Lotus-bushes cover him with their shade; the willows of the brook surround him.

23 Q uando o rio se enfurece, ele não se abala; mesmo que o Jordão encrespe as ondas contra a sua boca, ele se mantém calmo.

Lo, the river overfloweth—he startleth not: he is confident though a Jordan break forth against his mouth.

24 P oderá alguém capturá-lo pelos olhos, ou prendê-lo em armadilha e enganchá-lo pelo nariz?

Shall he be taken in front? will they pierce through nose in the trap?
