Paul, called apostle of Jesus Christ, by God's will, and Sosthenes the brother,

2 à igreja de Deus que está em Corinto, aos santificados em Cristo Jesus e chamados para serem santos, juntamente com todos os que, em toda parte, invocam o nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, Senhor deles e nosso:

to the assembly of God which is in Corinth, to sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints, with all that in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both theirs and ours:

3 A vocês, graça e paz da parte de Deus nosso Pai e do Senhor Jesus Cristo. A Gratidão de Paulo

Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and Lord Jesus Christ.

4 S empre dou graças a meu Deus por vocês, por causa da graça que lhes foi dada por ele em Cristo Jesus.

I thank my God always about you, in respect of the grace of God given to you in Christ Jesus;

5 P ois nele vocês foram enriquecidos em tudo, isto é, em toda palavra e em todo conhecimento,

that in everything ye have been enriched in him, in all word, and all knowledge,

6 p orque o testemunho de Cristo foi confirmado entre vocês,

(according as the testimony of the Christ has been confirmed in you,)

7 d e modo que não lhes falta nenhum dom espiritual, enquanto vocês esperam que o nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo seja revelado.

so that ye come short in no gift, awaiting the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ;

8 E le os manterá firmes até o fim, de modo que vocês serão irrepreensíveis no dia de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.

who shall also confirm you to end, unimpeachable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 F iel é Deus, o qual os chamou à comunhão com seu Filho Jesus Cristo, nosso Senhor. As Divisões na Igreja

God faithful, by whom ye have been called into fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

10 I rmãos, em nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo suplico a todos vocês que concordem uns com os outros no que falam, para que não haja divisões entre vocês; antes, que todos estejam unidos num só pensamento e num só parecer.

Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all say the same thing, and that there be not among you divisions; but that ye be perfectly united in the same mind and in the same opinion.

11 M eus irmãos, fui informado por alguns da casa de Cloe de que há divisões entre vocês.

For it has been shewn to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe, that there are strifes among you.

12 C om isso quero dizer que algum de vocês afirma: “Eu sou de Paulo”; ou “Eu sou de Apolo”; ou “Eu sou de Pedro ”; ou ainda “Eu sou de Cristo”.

But I speak of this, that each of you says, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ.

13 A caso Cristo está dividido? Foi Paulo crucificado em favor de vocês? Foram vocês batizados em nome de Paulo?

Is the Christ divided? has Paul been crucified for you? or have ye been baptised unto the name of Paul?

14 D ou graças a Deus por não ter batizado nenhum de vocês, exceto Crispo e Gaio;

I thank God that I have baptised none of you, unless Crispus and Gaius,

15 d e modo que ninguém pode dizer que foi batizado em meu nome.

that no one may say that I have baptised unto my own name.

16 ( Batizei também os da casa de Estéfanas; além destes, não me lembro se batizei alguém mais.)

Yes, I baptised also the house of Stephanas; for the rest I know not if I have baptised any other.

17 P ois Cristo não me enviou para batizar, mas para pregar o evangelho, não porém com palavras de sabedoria humana, para que a cruz de Cristo não seja esvaziada. Cristo, Sabedoria e Poder de Deus

For Christ has not sent me to baptise, but to preach glad tidings; not in wisdom of word, that the cross of the Christ may not be made vain.

18 P ois a mensagem da cruz é loucura para os que estão perecendo, mas para nós, que estamos sendo salvos, é o poder de Deus.

For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but to us that are saved it is God's power.

19 P ois está escrito: “Destruirei a sabedoria dos sábios e rejeitarei a inteligência dos inteligentes”.

For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and set aside the understanding of the understanding ones.

20 O nde está o sábio? Onde está o erudito? Onde está o questionador desta era? Acaso não tornou Deus louca a sabedoria deste mundo?

Where wise? where scribe? where disputer of this world? has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

21 V isto que, na sabedoria de Deus, o mundo não o conheceu por meio da sabedoria humana, agradou a Deus salvar aqueles que crêem por meio da loucura da pregação.

For since, in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom has not known God, God has been pleased by the foolishness of the preaching to save those that believe.

22 O s judeus pedem sinais miraculosos, e os gregos procuram sabedoria;

Since Jews indeed ask for signs, and Greeks seek wisdom;

23 n ós, porém, pregamos a Cristo crucificado, o qual, de fato, é escândalo para os judeus e loucura para os gentios,

but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews an offence, and to nations foolishness;

24 m as para os que foram chamados, tanto judeus como gregos, Cristo é o poder de Deus e a sabedoria de Deus.

but to those that called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ God's power and God's wisdom.

25 P orque a loucura de Deus é mais sábia que a sabedoria humana, e a fraqueza de Deus é mais forte que a força do homem.

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26 I rmãos, pensem no que vocês eram quando foram chamados. Poucos eram sábios segundo os padrões humanos; poucos eram poderosos; poucos eram de nobre nascimento.

For consider your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to flesh, not many powerful, not many high-born.

27 M as Deus escolheu o que para o mundo é loucura para envergonhar os sábios, e escolheu o que para o mundo é fraqueza para envergonhar o que é forte.

But God has chosen the foolish things of the world, that he may put to shame the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world, that he may put to shame the strong things;

28 E le escolheu o que para o mundo é insignificante, desprezado e o que nada é, para reduzir a nada o que é,

and the ignoble things of the world, and the despised, has God chosen, things that are not, that he may annul the things that are;

29 a fim de que ninguém se vanglorie diante dele.

so that no flesh should boast before God.

30 É , porém, por iniciativa dele que vocês estão em Cristo Jesus, o qual se tornou sabedoria de Deus para nós, isto é, justiça, santidade e redenção,

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who has been made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness, and holiness, and redemption;

31 p ara que, como está escrito: “Quem se gloriar, glorie-se no Senhor”.

that according as it is written, He that boasts, let him boast in Lord.
