1 A dvertência contra o Egito: Vejam! O Senhor cavalga numa nuvem veloz que vai para o Egito. Os ídolos do Egito tremem diante dele, e os corações dos egípcios se derretem no íntimo.

The burden of Egypt. Behold, Jehovah rideth upon a swift cloud, and cometh to Egypt; and the idols of Egypt are moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt melteth in the midst of it.

2 “ Incitarei egípcio contra egípcio; cada um lutará contra seu irmão, vizinho lutará contra vizinho, cidade contra cidade, reino contra reino.

And I will incite the Egyptians against the Egyptians; and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, kingdom against kingdom.

3 O s egípcios ficarão desanimados, e farei que os seus planos resultem em nada. Depois eles consultarão os ídolos e os necromantes, os médiuns e os adivinhos,

And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst of it, and I will destroy the counsel thereof; and they shall seek unto the idols and unto the conjurers, and unto the necromancers, and unto the soothsayers.

4 e ntão eu entregarei os egípcios nas mãos de um senhor cruel, e um rei feroz dominará sobre eles”, anuncia o Soberano, o Senhor dos Exércitos.

And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord, and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.

5 A s águas do rio vão secar-se; o leito do rio ficará completamente seco.

And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up;

6 O s canais terão mau cheiro; os riachos do Egito vão diminuir até secar-se; os juncos e as canas murcharão.

and the rivers shall stink, and the streams of Egypt shall be diminished and drain away: the reeds and sedges shall wither.

7 H averá lugares secos ao longo do Nilo e na própria foz do rio. Tudo o que for semeado ao longo do Nilo se ressecará, será levado pelo vento e desaparecerá.

The meadows by the Nile, on the banks of the Nile, and everything sown by the Nile, shall be dried up, be driven away, and be no.

8 O s pescadores gemerão e se lamentarão, como também todos os que lançam anzóis no Nilo; os que lançam redes na água desanimarão.

And the fishers shall mourn, and all they that cast fish-hook into the Nile shall lament, and they that spread net upon the waters shall languish.

9 O s que trabalham com linho e os tecelões de algodão se desesperarão.

And they that work in fine flax, and they that weave white stuffs shall be ashamed.

10 O s nobres ficarão deprimidos, e todos os assalariados ficarão abatidos.

And her pillars shall be broken in pieces, and all workers for hire shall be sad of soul.

11 O s líderes de Zoã não passam de insensatos; os sábios conselheiros do faraó dão conselhos tolos. Como, então, vocês podem dizer ao faraó: “Sou sábio, sou discípulo dos reis da antigüidade”?

They are but fools, the princes of Zoan, the wise counsellors of Pharaoh: counsel is become senseless. How say ye unto Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?

12 O nde estão agora os seus sábios? Que lhe mostrem, se é que eles têm conhecimento do que o Senhor dos Exércitos tem planejado contra o Egito.

Where are they then, thy wise ? Let them now tell thee, and let them make known what Jehovah of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.

13 T ornaram-se tolos os líderes de Zoã, e os de Mênfis são enganados; os chefes dos seus clãs induziram o Egito ao erro.

The princes of Zoan are become foolish, the princes of Noph are deceived; and the corner-stones of its tribes have caused Egypt to err.

14 O Senhor derramou dentro deles um espírito que os deixou desorientados; eles levam o Egito a cambalear em tudo quanto faz, como cambaleia o bêbado em volta do seu vômito.

Jehovah hath mingled a spirit of perverseness in the midst thereof; and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunkard staggereth in his vomit.

15 N ão há nada que o Egito possa fazer, nada que a cabeça ou a cauda, a palma ou o junco possam fazer.

Neither shall there be any work for Egypt, which the head or tail, palm-branch or rush, may do.

16 N aquele dia os egípcios serão como mulheres. Tremerão de medo diante do agitar da mão do Senhor dos Exércitos, que se levantará contra eles.

In that day shall Egypt be like unto women; and it shall tremble and fear because of the shaking of the hand of Jehovah of hosts, which he shaketh over it.

17 J udá trará pavor aos egípcios; todo aquele que mencionar o nome de Judá ficará apavorado, por causa do plano do Senhor dos Exércitos contra eles.

And the land of Judah shall be a dismay unto Egypt: every one that thinketh of it shall be afraid for himself, because of the counsel of Jehovah of hosts, which he hath purposed against it.

18 N aquele dia cinco cidades do Egito falarão a língua de Canaã e jurarão lealdade ao Senhor dos Exércitos. Uma delas será chamada Cidade do Sol.

In that day shall there be five cities in the land of Egypt speaking the language of Canaan, and swearing by Jehovah of hosts: one shall be called, The city of Heres.

19 N aquele dia haverá um altar dedicado ao Senhor no centro do Egito, e em sua fronteira, um monumento ao Senhor.

In that day shall there be an altar to Jehovah in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to Jehovah:

20 S erão um sinal e um testemunho para o Senhor dos Exércitos na terra do Egito. Quando eles clamarem ao Senhor por causa dos seus opressores, ele lhes enviará um salvador e defensor que os libertará.

and it shall be for a sign and for a witness to Jehovah of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they shall cry unto Jehovah because of the oppressors, and he will send them a saviour and defender, who shall deliver them.

21 A ssim o Senhor se dará a conhecer aos egípcios, e naquele dia eles saberão quem é o Senhor. A ele prestarão culto com sacrifícios e ofertas de cereal; farão votos ao Senhor e os cumprirão.

And Jehovah shall be known to the Egyptians, and the Egyptians shall know Jehovah in that day, and shall serve with sacrifice and oblation; and they shall vow a vow unto Jehovah, and perform it.

22 O Senhor ferirá os egípcios; ele os ferirá e os curará. Eles se voltarão para o Senhor, e ele responderá às suas súplicas e os curará.

And Jehovah will smite Egypt; he will smite and heal: and they shall return to Jehovah, and he will be entreated of them, and will heal them.

23 N aquele dia haverá uma estrada do Egito para a Assíria. Os assírios irão para o Egito, e os egípcios para a Assíria, e os egípcios e os assírios cultuarão juntos.

In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria; and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria; and Egypt shall serve with Assyria.

24 N aquele dia Israel será um mediador entre o Egito e a Assíria, uma bênção na terra.

In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth;

25 O Senhor dos Exércitos os abençoará, dizendo: “Bendito sejam o Egito, meu povo, a Assíria, obra de minhas mãos, e Israel, minha herança”.

whom Jehovah of hosts will bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance!
