To exercise justice and judgment is more acceptable to Jehovah than sacrifice.

4 A vida de pecado dos ímpios se vê no olhar orgulhoso e no coração arrogante.

Lofty eyes, and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin.

5 O s planos bem elaborados levam à fartura; mas o apressado sempre acaba na miséria.

The thoughts of the diligent only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty, only to want.

6 A fortuna obtida com língua mentirosa é ilusão fugidia e armadilha mortal.

The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting breath of them that seek death.

7 A violência dos ímpios os arrastará, pois recusam-se a agir corretamente.

The devastation of the wicked sweepeth them away, because they refuse to do what is right.

8 O caminho do culpado é tortuoso, mas a conduta do inocente é reta.

Very crooked is the way of a guilty man; but as for the pure, his work is upright.

9 M elhor é viver num canto sob o telhado do que repartir a casa com uma mulher briguenta.

It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a contentious woman, and a house in common.

10 O desejo do perverso é fazer o mal; ele não tem dó do próximo.

The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.

11 Q uando o zombador é castigado, o inexperiente obtém sabedoria; quando o sábio recebe instrução, obtém conhecimento.

When the scorner is punished, the simple becometh wise; and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.

12 O justo observa a casa dos ímpios e os faz cair na desgraça.

One that is righteous wisely considereth the house of the wicked: he overthroweth the wicked to ruin.

13 Q uem fecha os ouvidos ao clamor dos pobres também clamará e não terá resposta.

Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also himself shall cry, and shall not be heard.

14 O presente que se faz em segredo acalma a ira, e o suborno oferecido às ocultas apazigua a maior fúria.

A gift in secret pacifieth anger; and a present in the bosom, vehement fury.

15 Q uando se faz justiça, o justo se alegra, mas os malfeitores se apavoram.

It is joy to a righteous to do what is right; but it is ruin for the workers of iniquity.

16 Q uem se afasta do caminho da sensatez repousará na companhia dos mortos.

The man that wandereth out of the way of wisdom shall abide in the congregation of the dead.

17 Q uem se entrega aos prazeres passará necessidade; quem se apega ao vinho e ao azeite jamais será rico.

He that loveth mirth shall be a poor man; he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

18 O ímpio serve de resgate para o justo, e o infiel, para o homem íntegro.

The wicked is a ransom for the righteous, and a treacherous in the stead of the upright.

19 M elhor é viver no deserto do que com uma mulher briguenta e amargurada.

It is better to dwell in a desert land. than with a contentious and irritable woman.

20 N a casa do sábio há comida e azeite armazenados, mas o tolo devora tudo o que pode.

There is costly store and oil in the dwelling of a wise; but a foolish man swalloweth it up.

21 Q uem segue a justiça e a lealdade encontra vida, justiça e honra.

He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.

22 O sábio conquista a cidade dos valentes e derruba a fortaleza em que eles confiam.

A wise scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.

23 Q uem é cuidadoso no que fala evita muito sofrimento.

Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

24 O vaidoso e arrogante chama-se zombador; ele age com extremo orgulho.

Proud, arrogant, scorner is his name who dealeth in proud wrath.

25 O preguiçoso morre de tanto desejar e de nunca pôr as mãos no trabalho.

The desire of the sluggard killeth him; for his hands refuse to work:

26 O dia inteiro ele deseja mais e mais, enquanto o justo reparte sem cessar.

He coveteth greedily all the day long; but the righteous giveth and spareth not.

27 O sacrifício dos ímpios já por si é detestável; tanto mais quando oferecido com más intenções.

The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more when they bring it with a wicked purpose!

28 A testemunha falsa perecerá, mas o testemunho do homem bem informado permanecerá.

A lying witness shall perish; and a man that heareth shall speak constantly.

29 O ímpio mostra no rosto a sua arrogância, mas o justo mantém em ordem o seu caminho.

A wicked man hardeneth his face; but as for the upright, he establisheth his way.

30 N ão há sabedoria alguma, nem discernimento algum, nem plano algum que possa opor-se ao Senhor.

There is no wisdom, nor understanding, nor counsel against Jehovah.

31 P repara-se o cavalo para o dia da batalha, mas o Senhor é que dá a vitória.

The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but safety is of Jehovah.
