1 D omnul, a vorbit lui Iov, şi a zis:

And Jehovah answered Job and said,

2 E şti încredinţat acum tu, care vorbeşti împotriva Celui Atotputernic? Tu care mustri pe Dumnezeu, mai ai vreun răspuns de dat?``

Shall he that will contend with the Almighty instruct ? he that reproveth +God, let him answer it.

3 I ov a răspuns Domnului, şi a zis:

And Job answered Jehovah and said,

4 I ată, eu sînt prea mic; ce să-Ţi răspund? Îmi pun mîna la gură.

Behold, I am nought: what shall I answer thee? I will lay my hand upon my mouth.

5 A m vorbit odată, şi nu voi mai răspunde; de două ori, şi nu voi mai adăuga nimic.``

Once have I spoken, and I will not answer; yea twice, but I will proceed no further.

6 D omnul a răspuns lui Iov din mijlocul furtunii, şi a zis:

And Jehovah answered Job out of the whirlwind and said,

7 m ijlocul ca un viteaz; ca Eu să te întreb, şi tu să Mă înveţi.

Gird up now thy loins like a man: I will demand of thee, and inform thou me.

8 V rei să nimiceşti pînă şi dreptatea Mea? Şi să Mă osîndeşti, ca să-ţi scoţi dreptatea?

Wilt thou also annul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me that thou mayest be righteous?

9 A i tu un braţ ca al lui Dumnezeu, şi un glas de tunet ca al Lui?

Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

10 Î mpodobeşte-te cu măreţie şi mărime, îmbracă-te cu strălucire şi cu slavă!

Deck thyself now with glory and excellency, and clothe thyself with majesty and splendour.

11 V arsă-ţi valurile mîniei tale, şi doboară cu o privire pe cei trufaşi!

Cast abroad the ragings of thine anger, and look on every one that is proud, and abase him:

12 S mereşte cu o privire pe cei trufaşi, zdrobeşte pe loc pe cei răi,

Look on every one that is proud, bring him low, and tread down the wicked in their place:

13 a scunde -i pe toţi împreună în ţărînă, înveleşte-le faţa în întunerec!

Hide them in the dust together; bind their faces in secret.

14 Ş i atunci voi aduce şi Eu lauda puterii dreptei tale.

Then will I also praise thee, because thy right hand saveth thee.

15 U ită-te la ipopotamul, căruia i-am dat viaţă ca şi ţie! El mănîncă iarbă ca boul.

See now the behemoth, which I made with thee: he eateth grass as an ox.

16 U ită-te ce tărie are în coapse, şi ce putere are în muşchii pîntecelui său!

Behold now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the muscles of his belly.

17 Î şi îndoaie coada tare ca un cedru, şi vinele coapselor lui sînt întreţăsute.

He bendeth his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are woven together.

18 O asele lui sînt ca nişte ţevi de aramă, mădularele lui sînt ca nişte drugi de fer.

His bones are tubes of bronze, his members are like bars of iron.

19 E l este cea mai mare dintre lucrările lui Dumnezeu. Cel ce l -a făcut l -a înzestrat cu o suliţă..

He is the chief of God's ways: he that made him gave him his sword.

20 E l îşi găseşte hrana în munţi, unde se joacă toate fiarele cîmpului.

For the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

21 S e culcă supt lotus, în mijlocul trestiilor şi mlaştinilor.

He lieth under lotus-bushes, in the covert of the reed and fen:

22 D esişul lotusului îl acopere cu umbra lui, sălciile pîrîului îl înconjoară.

Lotus-bushes cover him with their shade; the willows of the brook surround him.

23 D acă se întîmplă ca rîul să iasă din matcă, el nu fuge: chiar de s'ar năpusti Iordanul în gîtlejul lui, el ar rămînea liniştit.

Lo, the river overfloweth—he startleth not: he is confident though a Jordan break forth against his mouth.

24 C rezi că -l poţi prinde lovindu -l în faţă? Sau crezi că -i vei putea străpunge nasul cu ajutorul laţurilor?

Shall he be taken in front? will they pierce through nose in the trap?
