1 ( Către mai marele cîntăreţilor. Un psalm al lui David. Făcut cînd a venit la el proorocul Natan, după ce intrase David la Bat-Şeba.) Ai milă de mine, Dumnezeule, în bunătatea Ta! După îndurarea Ta cea mare, şterge fărădelegile mele!

Be gracious unto me, O God, according to thy loving-kindness; according to the abundance of thy tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.

2 S pală-mă cu desăvîrşire de nelegiuirea mea, şi curăţeşte-mă de păcatul meu!

Wash me fully from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

3 C ăci îmi cunosc bine fărădelegile, şi păcatul meu stă necurmat înaintea mea.

For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is continually before me.

4 Î mpotriva Ta, numai împotriva Ta, am păcătuit şi am făcut ce este rău înaintea Ta; aşa că vei fi drept în hotărîrea Ta, şi fără vină în judecata Ta.

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done what is evil in thy sight; that thou mayest be justified when thou speakest, be clear when thou judgest.

5 I ată că sînt născut în nelegiuire, şi în păcat m'a zămislit mama mea.

Behold, in iniquity was I brought forth, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

6 D ar Tu ceri ca adevărul să fie în adîncul inimii: fă dar să pătrundă înţelepciunea înlăuntrul meu!

Behold, thou wilt have truth in the inward parts; and in the hidden thou wilt make me to know wisdom.

7 C urăţeşte-mă cu isop, şi voi fi curat; spală-mă, şi voi fi mai alb decît zăpada.

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

8 F ă-mă să aud veselie şi bucurie, şi oasele, pe cari le-ai zdrobit Tu, se vor bucura.

Make me to hear gladness and joy; the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

9 Î ntoarce-Ţi privirea dela păcatele mele, şterge toate nelegiuirile mele!

Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

10 Z ideşte în mine o inimă curată, Dumnezeule, pune în mine un duh nou şi statornic!

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

11 N u mă lepăda dela Faţa Ta, şi nu lua dela mine Duhul Tău cel Sfînt.

Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not the spirit of thy holiness from me.

12 D ă-mi iarăş bucuria mîntuirii Tale, şi sprijineşte-mă cu un duh de bunăvoinţă!

Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and let a willing spirit sustain me.

13 A tunci voi învăţa căile Tale pe ceice le calcă, şi păcătoşii se vor întoarce la Tine.

I will teach transgressors thy ways, and sinners shall return unto thee.

14 D umnezeule, Dumnezeul mîntuirii mele! Izbăveşte-mă de vina sîngelui vărsat, şi limba mea va lăuda îndurarea Ta.

Deliver me from blood-guiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

15 D oamne, deschide-mi buzele, şi gura mea va vesti lauda Ta.

Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall declare thy praise.

16 D acă ai fi voit jertfe, Ţi-aş fi adus: dar Ţie nu-Ţi plac arderile de tot.

For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou hast no pleasure in burnt-offering.

17 J ertfele plăcute lui Dumnezeu sînt un duh zdrobit: Dumnezeule, Tu nu dispreţuieşti o inimă zdrobită şi mîhnită.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

18 Î n îndurarea Ta, varsă-Ţi binefacerile asupra Sionului, şi zideşte zidurile Ierusalimului!

Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion; build the walls of Jerusalem.

19 A tunci vei primi jertfe neprihănite, arderi de tot şi jertfe întregi; atunci se vor aduce pe altarul Tău viţei.

Then shalt thou have sacrifices of righteousness, burnt-offering, and whole burnt-offering; then shall they offer up bullocks upon thine altar.
