1 B ildad către Şuah a luat cuvîntul şi a zis:

And Bildad the Shuhite answered and said,

2 P înă cînd vrei să vorbeşti astfel, şi pînă cînd vor fi cuvintele gurii tale ca un vînt puternic?

How long wilt thou speak these things? and the words of thy mouth be a strong wind?

3 O are va răsturna Dumnezeu dreptul? Sau va răsturna Cel Atotputernic dreptatea?

Doth God pervert judgment, and the Almighty pervert justice?

4 D acă fiii tăi au păcătuit împotriva Lui, i -a dat pe mîna păcatului.

If thy children have sinned against him, he hath also given them over into the hand of their transgression.

5 D ar tu, dacă alergi la Dumnezeu, dacă rogi pe Cel Atot puternic,

If thou seek earnestly unto God, and make thy supplication to the Almighty,

6 d acă eşti curat şi fără prihană, atunci negreşit, El va veghea asupra ta, şi va da înapoi fericirea locuinţei tale nevinovate.

If thou be pure and upright, surely now he will awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous;

7 V echea ta propăşire va fi mică faţă de cea de mai tîrziu. Învăţăminte din păţania celor dinainte.

And though thy beginning was small, yet thine end shall be very great.

8 Î ntreabă pe cei din neamurile trecute, şi ia aminte la păţania părinţilor lor. -

For inquire, I pray thee, of the former generation, and attend to the researches of their fathers;

9 C ăci noi sîntem de ieri, şi nu ştim nimic, zilele noastre pe pămînt nu sînt decît o umbră. -

For we are of yesterday, and know nothing, for our days upon earth are a shadow.

10 E i te vor învăţa, îţi vor vorbi, şi vor scoate din inima lor aceste cuvinte:

Shall not they teach thee, tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?

11 C reşte papura fără baltă? Creşte trestia fără umezeală?

Doth the papyrus shoot up without mire? doth the reed-grass grow without water?

12 F iind încă verde şi fără să se taie, ea se usucă mai repede decît toate ierburile.

Whilst it is yet in its greenness not cut down, it withereth before any grass.

13 A şa se întîmplă tuturor celor ce uită pe Dumnezeu, şi nădejdea celui nelegiuit va peri.

So are the paths of all that forget God; and the profane man's hope shall perish,

14 Î ncrederea lui este zdrobită, şi sprijinul lui este o pînză de păianjen.

Whose confidence shall be cut off, and his reliance is a spider's web.

15 S e bizuie pe casa lui, dar nu este tare; se prinde de ea, dar nu ţine.

He shall lean upon his house, and it shall not stand; he shall lay hold on it, but it shall not endure.

16 C um dă soarele, înverzeşte, îşi întinde ramurile peste grădina sa,

He is full of sap before the sun, and his sprout shooteth forth over his garden;

17 î şi împleteşte rădăcinile printre pietre, pătrunde pînă în ziduri.

His roots are entwined about the stoneheap; he seeth the place of stones.

18 D ar dacă -l smulgi din locul în care stă, locul acesta se leapădă de el şi zice:, Nu ştiu să te fi cunoscut vreodată!`

If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him: I have not seen thee!

19 I ată, aşa sînt desfătările pe cari i le aduc căile vieţii lui; apoi din acelaş pămînt răsar alţii după el.

Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the dust shall others grow.

20 N u, Dumnezeu nu leapădă pe omul fără prihană, şi nu ocroteşte pe cei răi.

Behold, God will not cast off a perfect man, neither will he take evil-doers by the hand.

21 B a încă, El îţi umple gura cu strigăte de bucurie, şi buzele cu cîntări de veselie.

Whilst he would fill thy mouth with laughing and thy lips with shouting,

22 V răjmaşii tăi vor fi acoperiţi de ruşine, iar cortul celor răi va pieri.```

They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked be no more.
