1 C înd au început oamenii să se înmulţească pe faţa pămîntului, şi li s'au născut fete,

And it came to pass when mankind began to multiply on the earth, and daughters were born to them,

2 f iii lui Dumnezeu au văzut că fetele oamenilor erau frumoase; şi din toate şi-au luat de neveste pe acelea pe cari şi le-au ales.

that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair, and took themselves wives of all that they chose.

3 A tunci Domnul a zis:,, Duhul Meu nu va rămînea pururea în om, căci şi omul nu este decît carne păcătoasă: totuş zilele lui vor fi de o sută douăzeci de ani.``

And Jehovah said, My Spirit shall not always plead with Man; for he indeed is flesh; but his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.

4 U riaşii erau pe pămînt în vremurile acelea, şi chiar şi după ce s'au împreunat fiii lui Dumnezeu cu fetele oamenilor, şi le-au născut ele copii: aceştia erau vitejii cari au fost în vechime, oameni cu nume.

In those days were the giants on the earth, and also afterwards, when the sons of God had come in to the daughters of men, and they had borne to them; these were the heroes, who of old were men of renown.

5 D omnul a văzut că răutatea omului era mare pe pămînt, şi că toate întocmirile gîndurilor din inima lui erau îndreptate în fiecare zi numai spre rău.

And Jehovah saw that the wickedness of Man was great on the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart only evil continually.

6 I -a părut rău Domnului că a făcut pe om pe pămînt, şi S'a mîhnit în inima Lui.

And Jehovah repented that he had made Man on the earth, and it grieved him in his heart.

7 Ş i Domnul a zis:,, Am să şterg de pe faţa pămîntului pe omul pe care l-am făcut, dela om pînă la vite, pînă la tîrîtoare, şi pînă la păsările cerului; căci Îmi pare rău că i-am făcut.``

And Jehovah said, I will destroy Man, whom I have created, from the earth—from man to cattle, to creeping things, and to fowl of the heavens; for I repent that I have made them.

8 D ar Noe a căpătat milă înaintea Domnului.

But Noah found favour in the eyes of Jehovah.

9 I ată cari sînt urmaşii lui Noe. Noe era un om neprihănit şi fără pată între cei din vremea lui: Noe umbla cu Dumnezeu.

This is the history of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect amongst his generations: Noah walked with God.

10 N oe a născut trei fii: Sem, Ham şi Iafet.

And Noah begot three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

11 P ămîntul era stricat înaintea lui Dumnezeu, pămîntul era plin de silnicie.

And the earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was full of violence.

12 D umnezeu S'a uitat spre pămînt, şi iată că pămîntul era stricat; căci orice făptură îşi stricase calea pe pămînt.

And God looked upon the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted its way on the earth.

13 A tunci Dumnezeu a zis lui Noe:,, Sfîrşitul oricărei făpturi este hotărît înaintea Mea, fiindcă au umplut pămîntul de silnicie; iată, am să -i nimicesc împreună cu pămîntul.

And God said to Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me, for the earth is full of violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

14 F ă-ţi o corabie din lemn de gofer (chiparos); corabia aceasta s'o împarţi în cămăruţe, şi s'o tencuieşti cu smoală pe dinlăuntru şi pe dinafară.

Make thyself an ark of gopher wood: cells shalt thou make the ark; and pitch it inside and outside with pitch.

15 I ată cum s'o faci: corabia să aibă trei sute de coţi în lungime, cincizeci de coţi în lăţime şi treizeci de coţi în înălţime.

And thus shalt thou make it: let the length of the ark be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

16 S ă faci corăbiei o fereastră, sus, lată de un cot; uşa s'o pui în laturea corăbiei; şi să faci un rînd de cămări jos, altul la mijloc şi altul sus.

A light shalt thou make to the ark; and to a cubit high shalt thou finish it above. And the door of the ark shalt thou set in its side: a lower, second, and third shalt thou make it.

17 Ş i, iată că Eu am să fac să vină un potop de ape pe pămînt, ca să nimicească orice făptură de supt cer, care are suflare de viaţă; tot ce este pe pămînt va pieri.

For I, behold, I bring a flood of waters on the earth, to destroy all flesh under the heavens in which is the breath of life: everything that is on the earth shall expire.

18 D ar cu tine fac un legămînt; să intri în corabie, tu şi fiii tăi, nevastă-ta şi nevestele fiilor tăi împreună cu tine.

But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt go into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.

19 D in tot ce trăieşte, din orice făptură, să iei în corabie cîte două din fiecare soi, ca să le ţii vii cu tine: să fie o parte bărbătească şi o parte femeiască.

And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep alive with thee: they shall be male and female.

20 D in păsări după soiul lor, din vite după soiul lor, şi din toate tîrîtoarele de pe pămînt după soiul lor, să vină la tine înlăuntru cîte două din fiecare soi, ca să le ţii cu viaţă.

Of fowl after their kind, and of the cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of each shall go in to thee, to keep alive.

21 Ş i tu, ia-ţi din toate bucatele cari se mănîncă, şi fă-ţi merinde din ele, ca să-ţi slujească de hrană ţie şi lor.``

And take thou of all food that is eaten, and gather to thee, that it may be for food for thee and for them.

22 A şa a şi făcut Noe: a făcut tot ce -i poruncise Dumnezeu.

And Noah did it; according to all that God had commanded him, so did he.
