1 T rimeteţi miei cîrmuitorului ţării, trimeteţi -i din Sela, prin pustie, la muntele fiicei Sionului!

Send the lamb of the ruler of the land from the rock to the wilderness,—unto the mount of the daughter of Zion.

2 C a o pasăre fugară, zgurnită din cuib, aşa vor fi fiicele Moabului, la trecerea Arnonului. -

And it shall be as a wandering bird, a scattered nest, so shall the daughters of Moab be at the fords of the Arnon.

3 Ş i vor zice:,, Sfătuieşte, mijloceşte, acopere-ne ziua namiaza mare cu umbra ta, ca noaptea neagră, ascunde pe ceice sînt urmăriţi, nu da pe faţă pe cei fugiţi!

Bring in counsel, execute justice; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of noonday; hide the outcasts, discover not the fugitive.

4 L asă să locuiască pentru o vreme la tine cei goniţi din Moab, fii un loc de scăpare pentru ei împotriva pustiitorului! Căci apăsarea va înceta, pustiirea se va sfîrşi, celce calcă ţara în picioare va pieri.

Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a covert to them from the face of the waster. For the extortioner is at an end, the wasting hath ceased, the oppressors are consumed out of the land.

5 Ş i atunci un scaun de domnie se va întări prin îndurare; şi se va vedea şezînd cu credincioşie, în casa lui David, un judecător, prieten al dreptului şi plin de rîvnă pentru dreptate. -

And a throne shall be established in mercy: and in the tent of David there shall sit upon it, in truth, one judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness.

6 A uzim îngîmfarea mîndrului Moab, fudulia şi fala lui, trufia şi lăudăroşia lui.``

We have heard of the arrogance of Moab,— very proud,—of his pride, and his arrogance, and his wrath: his pratings are vain.

7 D eaceea geme Moabul pentru Moab, toţi gem; suspinaţi pe dărîmăturile Chir-Haresetului, adînc mîhniţi;

Therefore shall Moab howl for Moab; every one of them shall howl. For the foundations of Kirhareseth shall ye mourn, verily afflicted.

8 c ăci cîmpiile Hesbonului lîncezesc; stăpînii neamurilor au sfărîmat butucii viei din Sibma, cari se întindeau pînă la Iaezer, şi se încîlceau prin pustie: mlădiţele ei se întindeau şi treceau dincolo de mare.

For the fields of Heshbon languish, the vine of Sibmah; the lords of the nations have broken down its choice plants: they reached unto Jaazer, they wandered the wilderness; its shoots stretched out, they went beyond the sea.

9 D eaceea plîng pentru via din Sibma, ca pentru Iaezer; vă ud cu lacrămile mele, Hesbonule şi Eleale! Căci peste culesul roadelor voastre şi peste secerişul vostru a căzut un strigăt de război!

Therefore I will weep with the weeping of Jaazer for the vine of Sibmah; with my tears will I water thee, Heshbon, and Elealeh, for a cry is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy harvest.

10 S 'a dus bucuria şi veselia din cîmpii! Şi în vii, nu mai sînt cîntece, nu mai sînt veselii! Nimeni nu mai calcă vinul în teascuri. -,, Am făcut să înceteze strigătele de bucurie la cules.

And joy and gladness is taken away out of the fruitful field; and in the vineyards there is no singing, neither is there shouting: the treaders tread out no wine in the presses, I have made the cry to cease.

11 D eaceea îmi plînge sufletul pentru Moab ca o arfă şi inima pentru Chir-Hares;

Therefore my bowels sound like a harp for Moab, and mine inward parts for Kirheres.

12 ş i cînd se va arăta Moabul, obosindu-se pe înălţimi şi va intra în locaşul său cel sfînt să se roage, nu va putea să capete nimic!`` -

And it shall come to pass, when Moab shall appear, shall weary himself on the high place, and enter into his sanctuary to pray, that he shall not prevail.

13 A cesta este cuvîntul, pe care l -a rostit Domnul de multă vreme asupra Moabului.

This is the word which Jehovah hath spoken from of old concerning Moab.

14 I ar acum Domnul vorbeşte, şi zice:,,În trei ani, ca anii unui simbriaş, slava Moabului va fi dispreţuită, împreună cu toată această mare mulţime; şi ce va rămînea, va fi puţin lucru, aproape nimic.``

And now Jehovah speaketh saying, Within three years, as the years of a hired servant, and the glory of Moab shall be brought to nothing, with all that great multitude; and the remnant shall be small, few, of no account.
