1 A llora vennero a Gesù da Gerusalemme dei farisei e degli scribi, e gli dissero:

Some of the teachers of the Law and the proud religious law-keepers from Jerusalem came to Jesus. They asked,

2 « Perché i tuoi discepoli trasgrediscono la tradizione degli antichi? Poiché non si lavano le mani quando prendono cibo».

“Why do Your followers not obey the teaching that was given to them by our fathers? They do not wash their hands before they eat.”

3 M a egli rispose loro: «E voi, perché trasgredite il comandamento di Dio a motivo della vostra tradizione?

Jesus said to them, “Why do you break the Law of God by trying to keep their teaching?

4 D io, infatti, ha detto: “Onora tuo padre e tua madre”; e: “Chi maledice padre o madre sia punito con la morte”.

For God said, ‘Show respect to your father and mother.’ And, ‘He who curses his father or mother will be put to death.’

5 V oi, invece, dite: “Se uno dice a suo padre o a sua madre: ‘Quello con cui potrei assisterti è dato in offerta a Dio’,

But you say that if a man says to his parents that anything he has, that might have been of help to them, is already given to God,

6 e gli non è più obbligato a onorare suo padre ”. Così avete annullato la parola di Dio a motivo della vostra tradizione.

he does not have to show respect by helping his father and mother. You are putting aside the Word of God to keep their teaching.

7 I pocriti! Ben profetizzò Isaia di voi quando disse:

You who pretend to be someone you are not, Isaiah told about you. He said,

8 “ Questo popolo mi onora con le labbra, ma il loro cuore è lontano da me.

’These people show respect to Me with their mouth, but their heart is far from Me.

9 I nvano mi rendono il loro culto, insegnando dottrine che sono precetti d’uomini” ». Giudizio sul cuore umano

Their worship of Me is worth nothing. They teach what men have made up.’”

10 C hiamata a sé la folla, disse loro: «Ascoltate e intendete:

Jesus called the people to Him and said to them, “Listen and understand this!

11 n on quello che entra nella bocca contamina l’uomo; ma è quello che esce dalla bocca che contamina l’uomo!»

It is not what goes into a man’s mouth that makes his mind and heart sinful. It is what comes out of a man’s mouth that makes him sinful.”

12 A llora i discepoli si avvicinarono e gli dissero: «Sai che i farisei, quando hanno udito questo discorso, ne sono rimasti scandalizzati?»

His followers came to Him. They said, “Did You know the proud religious law-keepers were ashamed and turned away because of You when they heard this?”

13 E gli rispose: «Ogni pianta che il Padre mio celeste non ha piantata, sarà sradicata.

He said, “Every plant that My Father in heaven did not plant will be pulled up by the roots.

14 L asciateli; sono guide cieche {di ciechi}; ora se un cieco guida un altro cieco, tutti e due cadranno in un fosso».

Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. If one blind man leads another blind man, they will both fall into a hole.”

15 P ietro allora gli disse: «Spiegaci la parabola ».

Then Peter said to Jesus, “Tell us this picture-story so we can understand it.”

16 E disse: «Anche voi siete ancora incapaci di comprendere?

Jesus said, “Do you not understand yet?

17 N on capite che tutto quello che entra nella bocca va nel ventre ed è poi espulso nella latrina?

Do you not understand that whatever goes into the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body?

18 M a ciò che esce dalla bocca viene dal cuore, ed è quello che contamina l’uomo.

But whatever comes from the mouth has come out of the heart. These things make the man unclean inside.

19 P oiché dal cuore vengono pensieri malvagi, omicidi, adultèri, fornicazioni, furti, false testimonianze, diffamazioni.

For out of the heart come bad thoughts, killing other people, sex sins of a married person, sex sins of a person not married, stealing, lying, speaking against God.

20 Q ueste sono le cose che contaminano l’uomo; ma il mangiare con le mani non lavate non contamina l’uomo». Gesù e la donna cananea

These are the things that make the man unclean inside. It does not make a man sinful to eat with hands that have not been washed.” Jesus Puts a Demon Out of a Girl

21 P artito di là, Gesù si ritirò nel territorio di Tiro e di Sidone.

Jesus went from there to the cities of Tyre and Sidon.

22 E d ecco, una donna cananea di quei luoghi venne fuori e si mise a gridare: «Abbi pietà di me, Signore, Figlio di Davide! Mia figlia è gravemente tormentata da un demonio».

A woman came from the land of Canaan. She cried out to Jesus and said, “Take pity on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter has a demon and is much troubled.”

23 M a egli non le rispose parola. E i suoi discepoli si avvicinarono e lo pregavano dicendo: «Mandala via, perché ci grida dietro».

But Jesus did not speak a word to her. His followers kept asking, saying, “Send her away for she keeps calling us.”

24 M a egli rispose: «Io non sono stato mandato che alle pecore perdute della casa d’Israele».

He said, “I was sent only to the Jewish people who are lost.”

25 E lla però venne e gli si prostrò davanti, dicendo: «Signore, aiutami!»

Then she came and got down before Jesus and worshiped Him. She said, “Lord, help me!”

26 E gli rispose: «Non è bene prendere il pane dei figli per buttarlo ai cagnolini».

But He said, “It is not right to take children’s food and throw it to the dogs.”

27 M a ella disse: «Sì, Signore, eppure anche i cagnolini mangiano delle briciole che cadono dalla tavola dei loro padroni».

She said, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the pieces that fall from the table of their owners.”

28 A llora Gesù le rispose: «Donna, grande è la tua fede; ti sia fatto come vuoi». E da quel momento sua figlia fu guarita. Altre guarigioni

Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have much faith. You will have what you asked for.” Her daughter was healed at that very time. Jesus Heals All Who Come to Him

29 P artito di là, Gesù venne presso il mare di Galilea e, salito sul monte, se ne stava seduto lassù;

Jesus went from there and came to the Sea of Galilee. Then He went up the mountain and sat down.

30 e gli si avvicinò una grande folla che aveva con sé degli zoppi, dei ciechi, dei muti, degli storpi e molti altri malati; li deposero ai suoi piedi ed egli li guarì.

Many people came to Him. They brought with them those who were not able to walk. They brought those who were not able to see. They brought those who were not able to hear or speak and many others. Then they put them at the feet of Jesus and He healed them.

31 L a folla restò piena di stupore nel vedere che i muti parlavano, gli storpi erano guariti, gli zoppi camminavano e i ciechi vedevano, e diede gloria al Dio d’Israele. Moltiplicazione dei pani per quattromila uomini

All the people wondered. They saw how those who could not speak were now talking. They saw how those who could not walk were now walking. They saw how those who could not see were now seeing, and they gave thanks to the God of the Jews. The Feeding of the Four Thousand

32 G esù, chiamati a sé i suoi discepoli, disse: «Io ho pietà di questa folla; perché già da tre giorni sta con me e non ha da mangiare; non voglio rimandarli digiuni, affinché non vengano meno per strada».

Then Jesus called His followers to Him. He said, “I pity these people because they have been with Me three days and they have no food. I do not want to send them home without food. They might get too weak as they go.”

33 I discepoli gli dissero: «Dove potremmo trovare, in un luogo deserto, tanti pani da saziare una così grande folla?»

The followers said to Jesus, “Where can we get enough bread to feed them all in this desert?”

34 G esù chiese loro: «Quanti pani avete?» Essi risposero: «Sette, e pochi pesciolini».

Jesus said to them, “How many loaves of bread do you have?” They said, “Seven loaves and a few small fish.”

35 A llora egli ordinò alla folla di accomodarsi per terra.

He told the people to sit down on the ground.

36 P oi prese i sette pani e i pesci; e, dopo aver reso grazie, li spezzò e li diede ai discepoli, e i discepoli alla folla.

Then He took the seven loaves of bread and the fish and gave thanks. He broke them and gave them to His followers. The followers gave them to the people.

37 E tutti mangiarono e furono saziati; e, dei pezzi avanzati, si raccolsero sette panieri pieni.

They all ate and were filled. They picked up seven baskets full of pieces of bread and fish after the people finished eating.

38 Q uelli che avevano mangiato erano quattromila uomini, senza contare le donne e i bambini.

Four thousand men ate. Women and children ate also.

39 P oi, congedata la folla, egli salì sulla barca e andò nella regione di Magadan.

After this Jesus sent the people away. Then He got into a boat and came to a place called Magadan.
