The Word of the Lord came to me saying,

2 « Figlio d’uomo, di’ al principe di Tiro: Così parla il Signore, Dio: “Il tuo cuore si è insuperbito, e tu dici: ‘Io sono un dio! Io sto seduto su un trono di Dio nel cuore dei mari!’, mentre sei un uomo, non un dio, e hai scambiato il tuo cuore per quello di Dio.

“Son of man, tell the leader of Tyre, ‘The Lord God says, “Because your heart is proud, you have said, ‘I am a god. I sit in the seat of gods, with the seas around me.’ Yet you are a man and not God, even if you think you are as wise as God.

3 E cco, tu sei più saggio di Daniele, nessun mistero è oscuro per te.

You are wiser than Daniel. There is no secret that is hidden from you.

4 C on la tua saggezza e con la tua intelligenza ti sei procurato ricchezze, hai ammassato oro e argento nei tuoi tesori;

By your wisdom and understanding you have gathered riches for yourself. You have gathered gold and silver for your store-houses.

5 c on la tua gran saggezza e con il tuo commercio hai accresciuto le tue ricchezze, e a motivo delle tue ricchezze il tuo cuore si è insuperbito”.

By all your wisdom in trade you have added to your riches, and your heart has become proud because of them.

6 P erciò così parla il Signore, Dio: “Poiché tu hai scambiato il tuo cuore per quello di Dio,

So the Lord God says, ‘Because you think you are as wise as God,

7 e cco, io faccio venire contro di te degli stranieri, i più violenti fra le nazioni; essi sguaineranno le loro spade contro lo splendore della tua saggezza e contamineranno la tua bellezza;

I will bring strangers against you, those who have the hardest hearts of all the nations. With their swords they will destroy the beauty of your wisdom and your greatness.

8 t i getteranno nella fossa e tu morirai della morte di quelli che sono trafitti nel cuore dei mari.

They will bring you down to the grave. You will die the death of those who are killed on the sea.

9 C ontinuerai forse a dire: ‘Io sono un dio’, in presenza di colui che ti ucciderà? Sarai un uomo e non Dio nelle mani di chi ti trafiggerà!

Will you still say, “I am a god,” in front of those who kill you? You will be only a man and not a god in the hands of those who kill you.

10 T u morirai della morte degli incirconcisi, per mano di stranieri; poiché io ho parlato”, dice il Signore, Dio ».

You will be killed by strangers, and will die the death of one who has not gone through the religious act of My people. For I have spoken,’ says the Lord God.”’” Song of Sorrow for the King of Tyre

The Word of the Lord came to me saying,

12 « Figlio d’uomo, pronuncia un lamento sul re di Tiro e digli: Così parla il Signore, Dio: “Tu mettevi il sigillo alla perfezione, eri pieno di saggezza, di una bellezza perfetta;

“Son of man, sing a song of sorrow for the king of Tyre, and tell him, ‘The Lord God says, “You were once the mark of what is perfect, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

13 e ri in Eden, il giardino di Dio; eri coperto di ogni tipo di pietre preziose: rubini, topazi, diamanti, crisoliti, onici, diaspri, zaffiri, carbonchi, smeraldi, oro; tamburi e flauti erano al tuo servizio, preparati il giorno che fosti creato.

You were in Eden, the garden of God. Every stone of great worth covered you: ruby, topaz, diamond, beryl, onyx, jasper, chrysolite, turquoise, and emerald. And you had beautiful objects of gold. They were made for you when you were made.

14 E ri un cherubino dalle ali distese, un protettore. Ti avevo stabilito, tu stavi sul monte santo di Dio, camminavi in mezzo a pietre di fuoco.

You were the cherub who kept watch, and I placed you there. You were on the holy mountain of God. You walked among the stones of fire.

15 T u fosti perfetto nelle tue vie dal giorno che fosti creato, finché non si trovò in te la perversità.

You were without blame in your ways from the day you were made until sin was found in you.

16 P er l’abbondanza del tuo commercio, tutto in te si è riempito di violenza e tu hai peccato; perciò io ti caccio via, come un profano, dal monte di Dio e ti farò sparire, o cherubino protettore, di mezzo alle pietre di fuoco.

Through all your trading you were filled with bad ways, and you sinned. So I have sent you away in shame from the mountain of God and I have destroyed you and driven you out from the stones of fire, O cherub who kept watch.

17 I l tuo cuore si è insuperbito per la tua bellezza; tu hai corrotto la tua saggezza a causa del tuo splendore. Io ti getto a terra, ti do in spettacolo ai re.

Your heart was proud because of your beauty. You made your wisdom sinful because of your beauty. So I threw you to the ground. I laid you in front of kings for them to see you.

18 C on la moltitudine delle tue iniquità, con la disonestà del tuo commercio tu hai profanato i tuoi santuari; perciò io faccio uscire in mezzo a te un fuoco che ti divori e ti riduco in cenere sulla terra, in presenza di tutti quelli che ti guardano.

By all your wrong-doing and sinful trading you made your holy places sinful. So I made a fire come out from you, and it has destroyed you. I have turned you to ashes on the earth in the eyes of all who see you.

19 T utti quelli che ti conoscevano fra i popoli restano stupefatti al vederti; tu sei diventato oggetto di terrore e non esisterai mai più”». La rovina di Sidone

All the nations who know you are filled with wonder and fear because of you. You have come to a bad end, and you will be no more forever.”’” Words against Sidon

20 L a parola del Signore mi fu rivolta in questi termini:

The Word of the Lord came to me saying,

21 « Figlio d’uomo, volgi la faccia verso Sidone, profetizza contro di lei

“Son of man, look toward Sidon and speak against her.

22 e di’: Così parla il Signore, Dio: “Eccomi contro di te, o Sidone! Io mi glorificherò in mezzo a te e si conoscerà che io sono il Signore, quando avrò eseguito i miei giudizi contro di lei e mi sarò santificato in lei.

Tell her, ‘The Lord God says, “I am against you, O Sidon, and My greatness will be honored among you. They will know that I am the Lord when I punish Sidon. I will show Myself holy within her.

23 I o manderò contro di lei la peste e ci sarà sangue nelle sue strade; in mezzo a essa cadranno gli uccisi dalla spada che piomberà su di lei da tutte le parti; e si conoscerà che io sono il Signore.

For I will send disease upon her, and blood into her streets. People will be killed by the sword from every side. Then they will know that I am the Lord.

24 N on ci sarà più per la casa d’Israele né spina che punge, né rovo che lacera fra tutti i suoi vicini che la disprezzano; e si conoscerà che io sono il Signore, Dio ”.

No longer will the people of Israel have neighbors like a sharp thistle or thorn who hate them. Then they will know that I am the Lord God.

25 C osì parla il Signore, Dio: “Quando avrò raccolto la casa d’Israele in mezzo ai popoli fra i quali essa è dispersa, io mi santificherò in loro davanti alle nazioni, ed essi abiteranno il loro paese, che io ho dato al mio servo Giacobbe.

“The Lord God says, ‘I will gather the people of Israel from the different nations where they have been sent. And I will show Myself holy among them in the eyes of the nations. Then they will live in their own land which I gave to My servant Jacob.

26 V i abiteranno al sicuro, costruiranno case e pianteranno vigne; abiteranno al sicuro, quando io avrò eseguito i miei giudizi su tutti quelli che li circondano e li disprezzano; e conosceranno che io sono il Signore, il loro Dio”».

They will live there and be safe. They will build houses, plant grape-fields, and be safe, when I punish all those around them who speak against them. Then they will know that I am the Lord their God.”’”
