Now the whole earth used the same language and the same words.

2 W axaana dhacday markay xagga bari u sii socdaaleen inay waddankii Shincaar meel bannaan ka heleen; oo halkaas ayay degeen.

It came about as they journeyed east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there.

3 O o waxay isku yidhaahdeen, Ina keena, aynu leben samaysannee, oo aynu aad u dubnee. Oo waxay dhagaxa meeshiisa u haysteen leben, nuuradda meesheedana dhoobo.

They said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and burn them thoroughly.” And they used brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar.

4 O o waxay yidhaahdeen, Ina keena, aynu magaalo dhisannee, iyo munaarad dhaladeedu samada gaadho, oo aynu magac yeelannee, waaba intaasoo aynu dhulka dushiisa oo dhan ku kala firidhnaaye.

They said, “Come, let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top will reach into heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name, otherwise we will be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”

5 R abbiguna wuxuu u soo degay inuu arko magaaladii iyo munaaraddii ay binu-aadmigu dhisayeen.

The Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built.

6 O o Rabbigu wuxuu yidhi, Bal eega, iyagu waa isku dad keliya, oo dhammaan isku af keliya bay leeyihiin, oo waxanuna waa waxa ay bilaabayaan inay sameeyaan, oo haatan wax ka hor joogsan doona waxay damcaan inay sameeyaan ma jiraane.

The Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them.

7 I na keena, aynu degnee, oo halkaas aynu afkooda iskaga qasnee, yaan midna midka kale hadalkiisa garanine.

Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, so that they will not understand one another’s speech.”

8 K olkaasaa Rabbigu halkaas ka kaxeeyey oo ku kala firdhiyey dhulka dushiisa oo dhan, oo dhisiddii magaaladii way joojiyeen.

So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of the whole earth; and they stopped building the city.

9 S idaas daraaddeed magaceedii waxaa loo bixiyey Baabel, maxaa yeelay, halkaasaa Rabbigu afkii dhulka oo dhan iskaga qasay; oo halkaasuu Rabbigu ka kaxeeyey iyagii oo ku kala firdhiyey dhulka dushiisa oo dhan. Qarniyaashii Sheem Ilaa Aabraam

Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of the whole earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of the whole earth. Descendants of Shem

These are the records of the generations of Shem. Shem was one hundred years old, and became the father of Arpachshad two years after the flood;

and Shem lived five hundred years after he became the father of Arpachshad, and he had other sons and daughters.

Arpachshad lived thirty-five years, and became the father of Shelah;

13 A rfaksadna markuu Salah dhalay ka dib wuxuu noolaa afar boqol iyo saddex sannadood, wiilal iyo gabdhona wuu dhalay.

and Arpachshad lived four hundred and three years after he became the father of Shelah, and he had other sons and daughters.

14 S alahna wuxuu jiray soddon sannadood, wuxuuna dhalay Ceeber.

Shelah lived thirty years, and became the father of Eber;

15 S alahna markuu Ceeber dhalay ka dib wuxuu noolaa afar boqol iyo saddex sannadood, wiilal iyo gabdhona wuu dhalay.

and Shelah lived four hundred and three years after he became the father of Eber, and he had other sons and daughters.

16 C eeberna wuxuu jiray afar iyo soddon sannadood, wuxuuna dhalay Feleg:

Eber lived thirty-four years, and became the father of Peleg;

17 C eeberna markuu Feleg dhalay ka dib wuxuu noolaa afar boqol iyo soddon sannadood, wiilal iyo gabdhona wuu dhalay.

and Eber lived four hundred and thirty years after he became the father of Peleg, and he had other sons and daughters.

18 F elegna wuxuu jiray soddon sannadood, wuxuuna dhalay Recu:

Peleg lived thirty years, and became the father of Reu;

19 F elegna markuu Recu dhalay ka dib wuxuu noolaa laba boqol iyo sagaal sannadood, wiilal iyo gabdhona wuu dhalay.

and Peleg lived two hundred and nine years after he became the father of Reu, and he had other sons and daughters.

20 R ecuna wuxuu jiray laba iyo soddon sannadood, wuxuuna dhalay Seruug.

Reu lived thirty-two years, and became the father of Serug;

21 R ecuna markuu Seruug dhalay ka dib wuxuu noolaa laba boqol iyo toddoba sannadood, wiilal iyo gabdhona wuu dhalay.

and Reu lived two hundred and seven years after he became the father of Serug, and he had other sons and daughters.

22 S eruugna wuxuu jiray soddon sannadood, wuxuuna dhalay Naaxoor:

Serug lived thirty years, and became the father of Nahor;

23 S eruugna markuu Naaxoor dhalay ka dib wuxuu noolaa laba boqol oo sannadood, wiilal iyo gabdhona wuu dhalay.

and Serug lived two hundred years after he became the father of Nahor, and he had other sons and daughters.

24 N aaxoorna wuxuu jiray sagaal iyo labaatan sannadood, wuxuuna dhalay Terax;

Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and became the father of Terah;

25 N aaxoorna markuu Terax dhalay ka dib wuxuu noolaa boqol iyo sagaal iyo toban sannadood, wiilal iyo gabdhona wuu dhalay.

and Nahor lived one hundred and nineteen years after he became the father of Terah, and he had other sons and daughters.

26 T eraxna wuxuu jiray toddobaatan sannadood, wuxuuna dhalay Aabraam, iyo Naaxoor, iyo Haaraan.

Terah lived seventy years, and became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran.

27 K uwanu waa farcankii Terax. Terax wuxuu dhalay Aabraam, iyo Naaxoor, iyo Haaraan; Haaraanna wuxuu dhalay Luud.

Now these are the records of the generations of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran; and Haran became the father of Lot.

28 H aaraanna wuxuu dhintay aabbihiis Terax oo jooga, wuxuuna ku dhintay dhulkii uu ku dhashay, oo la odhan jiray Uur tii reer Kaldayiin.

Haran died in the presence of his father Terah in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldeans.

29 A abraam iyo Naaxoorna way guursadeen: Aabraam naagtiisii waxaa la odhan jiray Saaray; naagtii Naaxoorna waxaa la odhan jiray Milkah, waxayna ahayd gabadhii Haaraan, aabbihii Milkah iyo Iskah.

Abram and Nahor took wives for themselves. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah and Iscah.

30 S aarayna waxay ahayd madhalays; ilmona ma ay lahayn.

Sarai was barren; she had no child.

31 T eraxna wuxuu kaxaystay wiilkiisii Aabraam, iyo Luud oo ahaa ina Haaraan, wiilkii wiilkiisii, iyo Saaray oo uu soddog u ahaa, oo ahayd naagtii wiilkiisii Aabraam; wayna kala baxeen Uur tii reer Kaldayiin, si ay u tagaan dalkii Kancaan; waxayna yimaadeen Haaraan, oo halkaasay degeen.

Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went out together from Ur of the Chaldeans in order to enter the land of Canaan; and they went as far as Haran, and settled there.

32 W akhtigii Terax noolaa wuxuu ahaa laba boqol iyo shan sannadood, Teraxna wuxuu ku dhintay Haaraan.

The days of Terah were two hundred and five years; and Terah died in Haran.
