1 G ive ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.

Dumnezeule, ia aminte la rugăciunea mea şi nu trece cu vederea cererea mea!

2 A ttend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;

Ascultă-mă şi răspunde-mi! Îmi arăt neliniştea în plângerea mea şi sunt tulburat

3 b ecause of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.

din pricina vociferării duşmanului, la vederea presiunii impuse de cel rău; căci ei fac să cadă necazul peste mine şi mi se împotrivesc cu furie.

4 M y heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.

Îmi tremură inima înăuntrul meu, spaimele morţii au căzut peste mine.

5 F earfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.

Frică şi cutremur au venit peste mine, m-a acoperit teroarea.

6 A nd I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.

Zic atunci: „Cine-mi va da aripi ca ale porumbelului, ca să zbor şi să mă ascund?“

7 L o, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.

Da, aş fugi departe de tot, m-aş refugia în pustie. Sela

8 I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.

M-aş grăbi să-mi găsesc refugiu, în faţa vântului năprasnic.

9 D estroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

Stăpâne, pune-i în încurcătură, încâlceşte-le limbile, căci numai violenţă şi ceartă văd în cetate!

10 D ay and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.

Zi şi noapte ei dau târcoale zidurilor ei; răutatea şi abuzurile se află în mijlocul ei.

11 W ickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.

Dezastrul este în mijlocul ei, iar asuprirea şi înşelăciunea nu-i părăsesc străzile.

12 F or it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:

Nu un duşman mă batjocoreşte, căci atunci aş îndura! Nu cel ce mă urăşte se ridică împotriva mea, căci m-aş ascunde de el!

13 b ut it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.

Ci tu, un om ca şi mine, prietenul meu, apropiatul meu,

14 W e took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.

cel cu care am avut părtăşie dulce când am mers cu mulţimea la Casa lui Dumnezeu!

15 L et death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.

Moartea să-i ia prin surprindere, să se pogoare de vii în Locuinţa Morţilor, căci au acceptat răutăţile în mijlocul lor.

16 A s for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.

Eu însă voi striga către Dumnezeu, iar Domnul mă va scăpa.

17 E vening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

Seara, dimineaţa şi la amiază, oftez şi gem, iar El îmi va auzi glasul.

18 H e hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.

Mă va răscumpăra nevătămat din războiul pornit împotriva mea, căci mulţi sunt împotriva mea.

19 G od shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.

Dumnezeu, Care tronează în veci, va auzi şi-i va smeri! Sela Sunt nişte oameni care nu se întorc de la căile lor şi care nu se tem de Dumnezeu.

20 H e hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant.

Prietenul meu îşi întinde mâna împotriva celor ce trăiesc în pace cu el, îşi calcă legământul.

21 T he words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.

Gura lui este alunecoasă ca smântâna, dar în inima lui poartă războiul. Cuvintele lui sunt mai alunecoase decât untdelemnul, dar în ascuns sunt nişte săbii.

22 C ast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Încredinţează-ţi soarta în mâna Domnului, şi El îţi va purta de grijă! El nu va îngădui ca cel drept să se clatine vreodată.

23 B ut thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.

Dar Tu, Dumnezeule, îi vei coborî pe cei răi în adâncul gropii; oamenii însetaţi de sânge şi înşelători nu vor trăi nici jumătate din zilele lor! Eu însă mă voi încrede în Tine!
