1 B ehold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.

„Iată, îl trimit pe solul Meu, care va pregăti calea înaintea Mea! Şi deodată, va intra în Templul Său Stăpânul pe Care-L căutaţi! Solul Legământului, în Care voi vă găsiţi plăcerea, iată-L că vine! zice Domnul Oştirilor.

2 B ut who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap:

Dar cine va putea să suporte ziua venirii Lui? Cine va putea să rămână în picioare când Se va arăta El? Căci El va fi ca focul rafinorului şi ca leşia înălbitorului!

3 a nd he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.

Se va aşeza ca un rafinor şi ca cel ce curăţă argintul şi-i va curăţi pe urmaşii lui Levi. Îi va purifica aşa cum se purifică aurul şi argintul, iar ei vor fi pentru Domnul cei ce aduc daruri în dreptate.

4 T hen shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the Lord, as in the days of old, and as in former years.

Atunci darurile lui Iuda şi ale Ierusalimului vor fi plăcute Domnului ca în zilele din vechime, ca în anii de odinioară!

5 A nd I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the Lord of hosts.

Atunci mă voi apropia de voi pentru judecată şi mă voi grăbi să fiu martor împotriva vrăjitorilor, a adulterilor, a celor ce jură fals, a celor ce opresc din plata simbriaşului, a celor ce asupresc pe văduvă şi pe orfan şi a celor ce nedreptăţesc pe străin şi care nu se tem de Mine, zice Domnul Oştirilor. Chemarea la pocăinţă şi promisiunea binecuvântării

6 F or I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Eu sunt Domnul, Eu nu mă schimb! De aceea, voi, urmaşi ai lui Iacov, n-aţi pierit!

7 E ven from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?

Încă de pe vremea strămoşilor voştri v-aţi abătut de la poruncile Mele şi nu le-aţi păzit! Întoarceţi-vă la Mine şi mă voi întoarce şi Eu la voi, zice Domnul Oştirilor. Dar voi întrebaţi: «Cum să ne întoarcem?»

8 W ill a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

Se cade ca un om să-L jefuiască pe Dumnezeu? Şi totuşi voi Mă jefuiţi. Dar voi întrebaţi: «Cum Te-am jefuit?» Cu privire la zeciuială şi la contribuţii!

9 Y e are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

Sunteţi crunt blestemaţi, căci Eu sunt Cel pe Care îl jefuiţi voi, tot neamul!

10 B ring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Aduceţi însă toate zeciuielile în vistierie, ca să fie hrană în Casa Mea. Puneţi-Mă astfel la încercare, zice Domnul Oştirilor, şi veţi vedea dacă nu voi deschide pentru voi stăvilarele cerurilor şi dacă nu voi turna peste voi binecuvântare până nu veţi mai avea loc unde s-o ţineţi!

11 A nd I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.

O voi mustra pentru voi pe cea care devorează, ca să nu mai distrugă recolta pământului vostru, iar viţa din câmpiile voastre nu va mai fi neroditoare, zice Domnul Oştirilor.

12 A nd all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts.

Atunci toate neamurile vă vor numi fericiţi, pentru că veţi fi o ţară plăcută, zice Domnul Oştirilor.

13 Y our words have been stout against me, saith the Lord. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee?

Aţi rostit cuvinte grele împotriva Mea, zice Domnul. Cu toate acestea, voi întrebaţi: «Ce am spus împotriva Ta?»

14 Y e have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the Lord of hosts?

Aţi spus: «Degeaba Îi slujim lui Dumnezeu! Ce-am câştigat dacă am păzit poruncile Sale şi am umblat căindu-ne înaintea Domnului Oştirilor?

15 A nd now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.

Acum îi numim fericiţi pe cei aroganţi. Da, nu numai că cei ce săvârşesc răul prosperă, dar ei Îl şi ispitesc pe Dumnezeu şi scapă!»“ Răsplata celor drepţi

16 T hen they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name.

Atunci cei ce se tem de Domnul au vorbit unii cu alţii, iar Domnul a luat aminte şi a ascultat. Înaintea Lui a fost scrisă o carte de aducere-aminte despre cei ce se tem de Domnul şi se gândesc la Numele Lui.

17 A nd they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

„Ei vor fi ai Mei, zice Domnul Oştirilor, în ziua în care Eu Îmi voi întemeia proprietatea preţioasă. Îi voi cruţa aşa cum un părinte îşi cruţă fiul care-i slujeşte.

18 T hen shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

Şi veţi vedea încă o dată deosebirea dintre cel drept şi cel rău, dintre cel care Îi slujeşte lui Dumnezeu şi cel care nu-I slujeşte!
