1 T hou also, son of man, take thee a tile, and lay it before thee, and pourtray upon it the city, even Jerusalem:

– Iar tu, fiul omului, ia o cărămidă, pune-o înaintea ta şi gravează pe ea o cetate înfăţişând Ierusalimul.

2 a nd lay siege against it, and build a fort against it, and cast a mount against it; set the camp also against it, and set battering rams against it round about.

Înfăţişeaz-o sub asediu: zideşte împotriva ei întărituri, înalţă împotriva ei o rampă de asalt, pune împotriva ei tabere cu ostaşi şi ridică împotriva ei berbeci de fier.

3 M oreover take thou unto thee an iron pan, and set it for a wall of iron between thee and the city: and set thy face against it, and it shall be besieged, and thou shalt lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel.

Apoi ia o tigaie de fier, pune-o ca pe un zid de fier între tine şi cetate şi îndreaptă-ţi faţa împotriva acesteia, ca ea să fie sub asediu şi tu să o împresori. Acesta va fi un semn pentru Casa lui Israel.

4 L ie thou also upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it: according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon it thou shalt bear their iniquity.

După aceea culcă-te pe partea ta stângă şi pune pe ea nelegiuirea celor din Casa lui Israel! Câte zile vei sta culcat pe această parte, vei purta nelegiuirea lor.

5 F or I have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days: so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.

Ţi-am hotărât un număr de zile potrivit cu anii nelegiuirilor lor: trei sute nouăzeci de zile vei purta nelegiuirea celor din Casa lui Israel.

6 A nd when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.

După ce vei termina cu acestea, să te culci a doua oară, pe partea ta dreaptă, şi să porţi nelegiuirea celor din Casa lui Iuda timp de patruzeci de zile. Ţi-am hotărât, aşadar, câte o zi pentru fiecare an.

7 T herefore thou shalt set thy face toward the siege of Jerusalem, and thine arm shall be uncovered, and thou shalt prophesy against it.

Apoi îndreaptă-ţi faţa spre Ierusalimul asediat şi profeţeşte împotriva cetăţii cu braţul descoperit.

8 A nd, behold, I will lay bands upon thee, and thou shalt not turn thee from one side to another, till thou hast ended the days of thy siege.

Să ştii că voi pune peste tine funii, ca să nu te poţi întoarce de pe o parte pe alta, până ţi se vor împlini zilele asediului tău.

9 T ake thou also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentiles, and millet, and fitches, and put them in one vessel, and make thee bread thereof, according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon thy side, three hundred and ninety days shalt thou eat thereof.

Ia-ţi acum nişte grâu, orz, fasole, linte, mei şi secară albă şi pune-ţi-le într-un vas, ca să-ţi poţi face mâncare din ele pe tot parcursul zilelor cât vei sta culcat pe o parte. Timp de trei sute nouăzeci de zile să mănânci din ele.

10 A nd thy meat which thou shalt eat shall be by weight, twenty shekels a day: from time to time shalt thou eat it.

Hrana pe care o vei mânca zilnic să fie în greutate de douăzeci de şecheli; să mănânci din ea din când în când.

11 T hou shalt drink also water by measure, the sixth part of an hin: from time to time shalt thou drink.

Apa să o bei cu măsură, şi anume a şasea parte dintr-un hin; să bei din ea din când în când.

12 A nd thou shalt eat it as barley cakes, and thou shalt bake it with dung that cometh out of man, in their sight.

Să mănânci pâine de orz şi să o coci înaintea lor, folosind fecale de om uscate.

13 A nd the Lord said, Even thus shall the children of Israel eat their defiled bread among the Gentiles, whither I will drive them.

Tot la fel de necurată va fi şi pâinea pe care o vor mânca israeliţii, acolo unde îi voi izgoni, printre neamuri, a mai zis Domnul.

14 T hen said I, Ah Lord God! behold, my soul hath not been polluted: for from my youth up even till now have I not eaten of that which dieth of itself, or is torn in pieces; neither came there abominable flesh into my mouth.

Atunci eu am zis: – Ah, Stăpâne Doamne, sufletul meu nu a fost întinat niciodată, căci, din tinereţea mea şi până acum, nu am mâncat din mortăciuni sau din animale sfâşiate şi nu mi-a intrat în gură carne necurată.

15 T hen he said unto me, Lo, I have given thee cow’s dung for man’s dung, and thou shalt prepare thy bread therewith.

El mi-a răspuns: – Ei bine, iată, îţi dau balegă de bou în loc de fecale de om şi-ţi vei coace pâinea pe ea.

16 M oreover he said unto me, Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem: and they shall eat bread by weight, and with care; and they shall drink water by measure, and with astonishment:

Fiul omului, mi-a mai zis El, voi zdrobi toiagul pâinii în Ierusalim, aşa încât cu frică îşi vor mânca porţia de pâine şi cu groază îşi vor bea raţia de apă.

17 t hat they may want bread and water, and be astonied one with another, and consume away for their iniquity.

Vor duce lipsă de pâine şi de apă, se vor îngrozi unii de ceilalţi şi se vor chinui din cauza nelegiuirii lor.
