1 A nd the Lord said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him:

Apoi Domnul i-a zis lui Moise: „Du-te la Faraon, căci i-am împietrit inima atât lui, cât şi slujitorilor săi, ca să descopăr aceste semne în mijlocul lor

2 a nd that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son’s son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the Lord.

şi pentru ca voi să puteţi istorisi copiilor şi nepoţilor voştri cât de aspru m-am purtat cu egiptenii, ce semne am făcut în mijlocul lor; şi astfel să ştiţi că Eu sunt Domnul. “

3 A nd Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.

Moise şi Aaron s-au dus la Faraon şi i-au zis: „Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul evreilor: «Până când vei refuza să te smereşti înaintea Mea? Lasă-Mi poporul să plece şi să Mi se închine.

4 E lse, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, to morrow will I bring the locusts into thy coast:

Dacă nu-Mi vei lăsa poporul să plece, voi aduce mâine lăcuste în ţara ta.

5 a nd they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field:

Ele vor acoperi ţara şi nimeni nu va mai putea vedea pământul. Ele vor mânca ce v-a mai rămas după grindină, vor mânca orice copac care creşte pe câmp şi

6 a nd they shall fill thy houses, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; which neither thy fathers, nor thy fathers’ fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth unto this day. And he turned himself, and went out from Pharaoh.

îţi vor umple palatele tale, casele slujitorilor tăi şi ale tuturor egiptenilor; va fi ceva ce nici părinţii, nici părinţii părinţilor tăi n-au văzut de când sunt ei pe pământ şi până în ziua de azi.»“ Apoi ei s-au întors şi au ieşit de la Faraon.

7 A nd Pharaoh’s servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the Lord their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed?

Slujitorii lui Faraon i-au zis acestuia: „Până când va fi omul acesta o cursă pentru noi? Lasă poporul să plece ca să se închine Domnului, Dumnezeul lor; încă nu înţelegi că Egiptul este ruinat?“

8 A nd Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve the Lord your God: but who are they that shall go?

Moise şi Aaron au fost aduşi înapoi la Faraon şi el le-a zis: – Duceţi-vă şi închinaţi-vă Domnului, Dumnezeul vostru! Dar cine dintre voi va merge?

9 A nd Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto the Lord.

Moise i-a răspuns: –Vom merge cu tinerii şi cu bătrânii, cu fiii şi fiicele noastre, cu turmele şi cirezile noastre, pentru că avem de ţinut o sărbătoare în cinstea Domnului.

10 A nd he said unto them, Let the Lord be so with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look to it; for evil is before you.

El le-a zis: – Aşa să fie Domnul cu voi, cum vă voi lăsa eu să plecaţi cu copiii voştri! Băgaţi de seamă, căci aveţi de gând să faceţi ceva rău.

11 N ot so: go now ye that are men, and serve the Lord; for that ye did desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence.

Nu, nu! Doar bărbaţii voştri pot merge să se închine Domnului, pentru că aceasta aţi cerut. Şi au fost izgoniţi dinaintea lui Faraon.

12 A nd the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail hath left.

După aceea, Domnul i-a zis lui Moise: „Întinde-ţi mâna peste ţara Egiptului şi o vor invada lăcustele care vor mânca orice plantă din ţara Egiptului, tot ce a mai rămas după urgia cu grindina.“

13 A nd Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the Lord brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.

Moise şi-a întins toiagul peste ţara Egiptului şi Domnul a adus vântul de răsărit peste ţară pe tot timpul zilei şi al nopţii; când s-a făcut dimineaţă, vântul de răsărit a adus lăcustele.

14 A nd the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.

Lăcustele au venit peste toată ţara Egiptului şi s-au aşezat pe întreg teritoriul ei, un roi de lăcuste atât de numeros, cum n-a mai fost vreodată şi nu va mai fi.

15 F or they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.

Ele au acoperit întreaga ţară şi tot pământul s-a făcut negru; au mâncat toate plantele din ţară şi tot rodul pomilor care a mai rămas după urgia cu grindina. În toată ţara Egiptului n-a mai rămas nimic verde, nici copaci şi nici plante pe câmp.

16 T hen Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against the Lord your God, and against you.

Faraon i-a chemat repede pe Moise şi pe Aaron şi le-a zis: „Am păcătuit împotriva Domnului, Dumnezeul vostru, şi împotriva voastră.

17 N ow therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the Lord your God, that he may take away from me this death only.

Iartă-mi şi păcatul acesta şi roagă-te Domnului, Dumnezeul vostru, ca să îndepărteze de la mine această urgie de moarte.“

18 A nd he went out from Pharaoh, and intreated the Lord.

Ei au ieşit de la Faraon şi Moise s-a rugat din nou Domnului.

19 A nd the Lord turned a mighty strong west wind, which took away the locusts, and cast them into the Red sea; there remained not one locust in all the coasts of Egypt.

Domnul a făcut să sufle dinspre apus un vânt puternic care a luat lăcustele şi le-a aruncat în Marea Roşie. Nici o lăcustă n-a fost lăsată în Egipt.

20 B ut the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go.

Dar Domnul i-a împietrit inima lui Faraon şi acesta nu i-a lăsat pe israeliţi să plece. A noua urgie: întunericul

21 A nd the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.

Apoi Domnul i-a zis lui Moise: „Întinde-ţi mâna spre cer ca să se facă întuneric peste toată ţara Egiptului; atât de întuneric, încât să-l pipăi cu mâna.“

22 A nd Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:

Moise şi-a întins mâna spre cer şi s-a făcut un mare întuneric peste toată ţara Egiptului timp de trei zile.

23 t hey saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.

Oamenii nu se puteau vedea unii pe alţii şi timp de trei zile nu s-au putut mişca de unde erau; dar toţi israeliţii au avut lumină acolo unde locuiau.

24 A nd Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go ye, serve the Lord; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.

Faraon l-a chemat pe Moise şi i-a zis: – Duceţi-vă şi închinaţi-vă Domnului. Copiii voştri pot merge cu voi, însă turmele şi cirezile voastre vor rămâne.

25 A nd Moses said, Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the Lord our God.

Moise i-a răspuns: – Trebuie să ne laşi să aducem jertfe şi arderi-de-tot Domnului, Dumnezeul nostru.

26 O ur cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the Lord our God; and we know not with what we must serve the Lord, until we come thither.

Vitele noastre trebuie să meargă cu noi; nici o copită nu va rămâne, pentru că trebuie să alegem dintre ele pentru a ne închina Domnului, Dumnezeul nostru, şi nu ştim ce vom folosi pentru a ne închina Domnului decât atunci când vom ajunge acolo.

27 B ut the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let them go.

Dar Domnul i-a împietrit inima lui Faraon şi acesta n-a vrut să-i lase să plece.

28 A nd Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in that day thou seest my face thou shalt die.

Apoi Faraon i-a zis: – Ieşi de la mine! Fereşte-te să-mi mai vezi faţa, pentru că, în ziua în care-mi vei vedea faţa, vei muri.

29 A nd Moses said, Thou hast spoken well, I will see thy face again no more.

– Să fie precum ai zis! i-a răspuns Moise. Nu-ţi voi mai vedea faţa.
