1 T hen Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Zion.

Atunci Solomon a convocat la Ierusalim sfatul bătrânilor lui Israel, toate căpeteniile seminţiilor şi conducătorii clanurilor israelite ca să mute Chivotul Legământului cu Domnul din Cetatea lui David, adică din Sion.

2 A nd all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.

Toţi bărbaţii lui Israel s-au adunat la regele Solomon cu prilejul sărbătorii din luna Etanim, adică luna a şaptea.

3 A nd all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.

După ce au venit toţi cei din sfatul bătrânilor lui Israel, preoţii au ridicat Chivotul.

4 A nd they brought up the ark of the Lord, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, even those did the priests and the Levites bring up.

Preoţii şi leviţii au mutat Chivotul Domnului, Cortul Întâlnirii şi toate obiectele sfinte care erau în cort.

5 A nd king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel, that were assembled unto him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be told nor numbered for multitude.

Regele Solomon şi toată adunarea lui Israel, care se adunase înaintea lui, au stat împreună înaintea Chivotului şi au jertfit atât de multe oi şi vite, încât n-au putut fi numărate sau socotite.

6 A nd the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the Lord unto his place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims.

Preoţii au adus Chivotul Legământului cu Domnul la locul lui, în sanctuarul interior al Casei, adică în Locul Preasfânt, sub aripile heruvimilor.

7 F or the cherubims spread forth their two wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above.

Heruvimii aveau aripile întinse deasupra locului unde se afla Chivotul, astfel încât heruvimii acopereau atât Chivotul, cât şi drugii acestuia.

8 A nd they drew out the staves, that the ends of the staves were seen out in the holy place before the oracle, and they were not seen without: and there they are unto this day.

Drugilor li se dăduse o asemenea lungime, încât să li se vadă capetele din Locul Sfânt care era în faţa sanctuarului interior, dar să nu se vadă de afară; ei sunt acolo şi astăzi.

9 T here was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the Lord made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.

În Chivot nu se mai aflau decât cele două table de piatră puse de Moise la Horeb, atunci când Domnul a încheiat legământ cu israeliţii, după ce aceştia au ieşit din ţara Egiptului.

10 A nd it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the Lord,

Când preoţii au ieşit din Locul Sfânt, norul a acoperit Casa Domnului.

11 s o that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord.

Preoţii n-au putut rămâne să-şi îndeplinească slujba din cauza norului, căci slava Domnului umpluse Casa Domnului.

12 T hen spake Solomon, The Lord said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

Atunci Solomon a zis: „ Domnul a spus că va locui în negură.

13 I have surely built thee an house to dwell in, a settled place for thee to abide in for ever.

Eu am zidit o Casă măreaţă pentru Tine, un loc unde vei locui pe vecie!“

14 A nd the king turned his face about, and blessed all the congregation of Israel: (and all the congregation of Israel stood;)

Apoi regele s-a întors cu faţa spre întreaga adunare a lui Israel şi a binecuvântat-o. Întreaga adunare a lui Israel stătea în picioare.

15 a nd he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, which spake with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it, saying,

El a zis: „Binecuvântat să fie Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, Care a împlinit prin puterea Sa ceea ce i-a promis tatălui meu, David, când a zis:

16 S ince the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build an house, that my name might be therein; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.

«Din ziua în care l-am scos pe poporul Meu, Israel, din Egipt, nu am ales nici o cetate din toate seminţiile lui Israel ca să-Mi zidesc acolo o Casă pentru Numele Meu, ci l-am ales pe David ca să domnească peste poporul Meu, Israel.»

17 A nd it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the Lord God of Israel.

Tatăl meu, David, avea de gând să zidească o Casă pentru Numele Domnului, Dumnezeul lui Israel.

18 A nd the Lord said unto David my father, Whereas it was in thine heart to build an house unto my name, thou didst well that it was in thine heart.

Dar Domnul i-a zis tatălui meu, David: «Tu te-ai gândit să zideşti o Casă Numelui Meu şi este bine că te-ai gândit în felul acesta!

19 N evertheless thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house unto my name.

Totuşi, nu tu vei zidi Casa, ci fiul tău; cel ce ţi s-a născut va zidi o Casă Numelui Meu.»

20 A nd the Lord hath performed his word that he spake, and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, and have built an house for the name of the Lord God of Israel.

Domnul a împlinit ceea ce a promis. Eu m-am ridicat în locul tatălui meu, David, m-am aşezat pe tronul lui Israel, aşa cum a promis Domnul, şi am zidit Casa pentru Numele Domnului, Dumnezeul lui Israel.

21 A nd I have set there a place for the ark, wherein is the covenant of the Lord, which he made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

Am pregătit acolo un loc pentru Chivotul în care se află legământul Domnului, pe care l-a încheiat cu strămoşii noştri după ce i-a scos din ţara Egiptului.“ Rugăciunea lui Solomon

22 A nd Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven:

După aceea, Solomon s-a aşezat înaintea altarului Domnului şi, stând în prezenţa întregii adunări a lui Israel, şi-a întins mâinile spre cer

23 a nd he said, Lord God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart:

şi a zis: „ Doamne, Dumnezeul lui Israel, nu este nici un dumnezeu asemenea Ţie, nici sus în ceruri, nici jos pe pământ: Tu păstrezi legământul şi îndurarea faţă de slujitorii Tăi, care umblă înaintea Ta din toată inima lor!

24 w ho hast kept with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him: thou spakest also with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thine hand, as it is this day.

Tu Ţi-ai ţinut promisiunea faţă de robul Tău, tatăl meu, David; ce ai spus cu gura Ta, ai împlinit cu mâna Ta, cum se vede astăzi.

25 T herefore now, Lord God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.

Doamne, Dumnezeul lui Israel, împlineşte ce ai promis robului Tău, tatăl meu, David, când ai zis: «Nu vei fi lipsit niciodată de un urmaş care să stea înaintea Mea pe tronul lui Israel, dacă fiii tăi vor veghea la calea lor şi vor umbla înaintea Mea tot aşa cum ai umblat şi tu.»

26 A nd now, O God of Israel, let thy word, I pray thee, be verified, which thou spakest unto thy servant David my father.

Acum, Dumnezeul lui Israel, împlinească-se promisiunea pe care ai făcut-o robului Tău David, tatăl meu.

27 B ut will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?

Dar va locui într-adevăr Dumnezeu pe pământ? Iată că nici chiar cerurile şi cerurile cerurilor nu Te pot cuprinde, cu atât mai puţin Casa aceasta pe care am zidit-o eu!

28 Y et have thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O Lord my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer, which thy servant prayeth before thee to day:

Doamne, Dumnezeul meu, ia aminte la rugăciunea slujitorului Tău şi la cererea lui! Ascultă strigătul şi rugăciunea pe care Ţi-o face slujitorul Tău astăzi!

29 t hat thine eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there: that thou mayest hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall make toward this place.

Fie ca ochii Tăi să vegheze zi şi noapte asupra acestei Case, asupra locului despre care ai zis: «Acolo va fi Numele Meu!» Ascultă rugăciunea pe care Ţi-o face slujitorul Tău cu privire la acest loc.

30 A nd hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place: and when thou hearest, forgive.

Ascultă cererea slujitorului Tău şi a poporului Tău, Israel, când se va ruga înspre acest loc. Ascultă din tărâmul locuinţei Tale, din ceruri, ascultă şi iartă.

31 I f any man trespass against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon him to cause him to swear, and the oath come before thine altar in this house:

Când va păcătui cineva împotriva semenului său şi va fi obligat apoi să facă un jurământ, când va veni să jure înaintea altarului din Casa aceasta,

32 t hen hear thou in heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way upon his head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.

ascultă din ceruri, lucrează şi judecă-i pe slujitorii Tăi, condamnându-l pe cel nelegiuit, aruncând asupra capului lui faptele lui, şi îndreptăţindu-l pe cel drept, răsplătindu-i potrivit cu dreptatea lui!

33 W hen thy people Israel be smitten down before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee, and shall turn again to thee, and confess thy name, and pray, and make supplication unto thee in this house:

Când poporul Tău, Israel, fiind biruit de duşman pentru că a păcătuit împotriva Ta, se va întoarce la Tine, va da slavă Numelui Tău, Ţi se va ruga şi va căuta bunăvoinţa Ta în Casa aceasta,

34 t hen hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which thou gavest unto their fathers.

ascultă din ceruri, iartă păcatul poporului Tău, Israel, şi adu-l înapoi în ţara pe care le-ai dat-o strămoşilor lui!

35 W hen heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou afflictest them:

Când cerul va fi închis şi nu va mai fi ploaie pentru că au păcătuit împotriva Ta, iar ei se vor ruga înspre acest loc, vor da slavă Numelui Tău şi se vor întoarce de la păcatul lor pentru că i-ai pedepsit,

36 t hen hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, that thou teach them the good way wherein they should walk, and give rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.

ascultă din ceruri şi iartă păcatul slujitorilor Tăi şi al poporului Tău, Israel. Învaţă-i calea cea bună pe care trebuie să meargă şi trimite ploaie peste ţara Ta, pe care i-ai dat-o ca moştenire poporului Tău!

37 I f there be in the land famine, if there be pestilence, blasting, mildew, locust, or if there be caterpiller; if their enemy besiege them in the land of their cities; whatsoever plague, whatsoever sickness there be;

Când va fi în ţară foamete, molimă, filoxeră, mană, lăcuste sau omizi, când duşmanul lor le va asedia cetăţile, orice urgie sau boală ar veni,

38 w hat prayer and supplication soever be made by any man, or by all thy people Israel, which shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house:

dacă cineva din popor sau dacă tot poporul Tău, Israel, va face rugăciuni şi cereri, recunoscându-şi fiecare întinarea inimii lui şi va întinde mâinile spre Casa aceasta,

39 t hen hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men;)

ascultă din ceruri, tărâmul locuinţei Tale, şi iartă-l! Lucrează şi răsplăteşte-i fiecăruia după faptele lui, Tu Care cunoşti inima fiecăruia, căci numai Tu cunoşti inimile tuturor oamenilor.

40 t hat they may fear thee all the days that they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.

Astfel, ei se vor teme de Tine în tot timpul cât vor trăi în ţara pe care le-ai dat-o strămoşilor noştri.

41 M oreover concerning a stranger, that is not of thy people Israel, but cometh out of a far country for thy name’s sake;

De asemenea, când străinul, care nu este din poporul Tău, Israel, va veni dintr-o ţară îndepărtată datorită Numelui Tău,

42 ( for they shall hear of thy great name, and of thy strong hand, and of thy stretched out arm;) when he shall come and pray toward this house;

căci oamenii vor auzi despre Numele Tău cel mare, despre mâna Ta cea tare şi despre braţul Tău cel întins, deci când va veni şi se va ruga înspre această Casă,

43 h ear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for: that all people of the earth may know thy name, to fear thee, as do thy people Israel; and that they may know that this house, which I have builded, is called by thy name.

ascultă din ceruri, tărâmul locuinţei Tale, şi dă-i acelui străin tot ceea ce-Ţi va cere, pentru ca toate popoarele pământului să-Ţi cunoască Numele, să se teamă de Tine aşa cum se teme poporul Tău, Israel, şi să ştie că Numele Tău este chemat peste această Casă, pe care am zidit-o eu.

44 I f thy people go out to battle against their enemy, whithersoever thou shalt send them, and shall pray unto the Lord toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house that I have built for thy name:

Când poporul Tău va merge la război împotriva duşmanului său, acolo unde îl vei trimite, şi se va ruga Domnului cu mâinile îndreptate înspre cetatea pe care ai ales-o Tu şi înspre Casa pe care am zidit-o pentru Numele Tău,

45 t hen hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.

ascultă din ceruri rugăciunea lor şi cererea lor şi fă-le dreptate.

46 I f they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near;

Când vor păcătui împotriva Ta – căci nu este om care să nu păcătuiască – şi, mâniindu-Te pe ei, îi vei da pe mâna duşmanilor lor care îi vor duce captivi într-o ţară vrăjmaşă, îndepărtată sau apropiată,

47 y et if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they were carried captives, and repent, and make supplication unto thee in the land of them that carried them captives, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness;

dacă acolo, în ţara în care au fost luaţi captivi, îşi vor cerceta inimile, dacă se vor întoarce la Tine şi vor căuta bunăvoinţa Ta în ţara celor ce i-au luat captivi, spunând: «Am păcătuit, am greşit şi am săvârşit răul!»,

48 a nd so return unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away captive, and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name:

dacă de acolo, din ţara duşmanilor lor care i-au luat captivi, se vor întoarce la Tine din toată inima lor şi din tot sufletul lor, dacă Ţi se vor ruga cu mâinile îndreptate înspre ţara lor, pe care le-ai dat-o strămoşilor lor, înspre cetatea pe care Tu ai ales-o şi înspre Casa pe care am zidit-o eu pentru Numele Tău,

49 t hen hear thou their prayer and their supplication in heaven thy dwelling place, and maintain their cause,

atunci ascultă din ceruri, tărâmul locuinţei Tale, rugăciunea lor şi cererea lor şi fă-le dreptate.

50 a nd forgive thy people that have sinned against thee, and all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against thee, and give them compassion before them who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them:

Iartă poporul Tău, cel ce a păcătuit faţă de Tine! Iartă toate fărădelegile pe care le-au săvârşit împotriva Ta şi fă să găsească îndurare la cei ce i-au luat captivi, ca să le arate milă;

51 f or they be thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron:

căci ei sunt poporul Tău şi moştenirea Ta, poporul pe care l-ai scos din Egipt, din mijlocul cuptorului de fier!

52 t hat thine eyes may be open unto the supplication of thy servant, and unto the supplication of thy people Israel, to hearken unto them in all that they call for unto thee.

Fie ca ochii Tăi să fie deschişi la cererea slujitorului Tău şi la cererea poporului Tău, Israel, ca să-i asculţi ori de câte ori vor striga către Tine după ajutor,

53 F or thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by the hand of Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord God.

căci Tu, Stăpâne Doamne, i-ai pus deoparte dintre toate popoarele pământului pentru a fi moştenirea Ta, după cum i-ai spus robului Tău Moise când i-ai scos pe strămoşii noştri din Egipt!“

54 A nd it was so, that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication unto the Lord, he arose from before the altar of the Lord, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven.

Când Solomon a terminat de spus toată această rugăciune şi cerere Domnului, s-a ridicat dinaintea altarului Domnului, unde stătuse îngenuncheat, cu mâinile ridicate spre cer

55 A nd he stood, and blessed all the congregation of Israel with a loud voice, saying,

şi, stând în picioare, a binecuvântat întreaga adunare a lui Israel cu voce tare, zicând:

56 B lessed be the Lord, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.

„Binecuvântat să fie Domnul Care i-a dat odihnă poporului Său, Israel, potrivit cu tot ceea ce a promis. Dintre toate promisiunile bune pe care le-a rostit prin robul Său Moise, nici una n-a rămas neîmplinită.

57 T he Lord our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us:

Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru, să fie cu noi aşa cum a fost cu strămoşii noştri; să nu ne părăsească şi să nu ne lase,

58 t hat he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers.

ci să ne aplece inimile spre El ca să umblăm în toate căile Lui şi să păzim poruncile, legile şi hotărârile Lui, pe care le-a dat strămoşilor noştri.

59 A nd let these my words, wherewith I have made supplication before the Lord, be nigh unto the Lord our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel at all times, as the matter shall require:

Fie ca aceste cuvinte ale mele, pe care le-am adus înaintea Domnului, să fie zi şi noapte înaintea Domnului, Dumnezeul nostru, pentru a face dreptate slujitorului Său şi poporului Său, Israel, după nevoile zilnice

60 t hat all the people of the earth may know that the Lord is God, and that there is none else.

şi pentru ca toate popoarele pământului să ştie că Domnul este Dumnezeu şi că nu este altul.

61 L et your heart therefore be perfect with the Lord our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.

Dar inimile trebuie să vă fie în întregime ale Domnului, Dumnezeul nostru, trăind după hotărârile Lui şi păzind poruncile Lui ca şi astăzi.“ Inaugurarea Casei Domnului

62 A nd the king, and all Israel with him, offered sacrifice before the Lord.

Apoi, regele împreună cu tot Israelul au adus jertfe înaintea Domnului.

63 A nd Solomon offered a sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered unto the Lord, two and twenty thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the house of the Lord.

Solomon I-a adus Domnului douăzeci şi două de mii de boi şi o sută douăzeci de mii de oi ca jertfă de pace. Astfel, regele şi tot poporul Israel au sfinţit Casa Domnului.

64 T he same day did the king hallow the middle of the court that was before the house of the Lord: for there he offered burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings: because the brasen altar that was before the Lord was too little to receive the burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings.

În aceeaşi zi, regele a sfinţit mijlocul curţii, locul din faţa Casei Domnului, întrucât acolo a adus arderile de tot, darurile de mâncare şi grăsimea jertfelor de pace, deoarece altarul de bronz dinaintea Domnului era prea mic pentru a cuprinde arderile de tot, darurile de mâncare şi grăsimea jertfelor de pace.

65 A nd at that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt, before the Lord our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.

Solomon a ţinut atunci sărbătoarea împreună cu tot Israelul. O mare mulţime de oameni veniţi de la Lebo-Hamat şi până dinspre Râul Egiptului au sărbătorit înaintea Domnului, Dumnezeul nostru, timp de şapte zile şi apoi alte şapte zile, adică paisprezece zile.

66 O n the eighth day he sent the people away: and they blessed the king, and went unto their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the Lord had done for David his servant, and for Israel his people.

În ziua a opta Solomon a trimis poporul acasă. Ei l-au binecuvântat pe rege şi au plecat la corturile lor bucuroşi şi cu inimile mulţumite pentru tot binele făcut de Domnul robului Său David şi poporului Său, Israel.
