1 A nd certain men which came down from Judæa taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

Au venit însă din Iudeea unii care îi învăţau pe fraţi astfel: „Dacă nu sunteţi circumcişi, după obiceiul lui Moise, nu puteţi fi mântuiţi!“

2 W hen therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.

S-a stârnit o mare neînţelegere şi dispută între Pavel şi Barnabas, de o parte, şi ei, de cealaltă parte. Drept urmare, fraţii i-au desemnat pe Pavel, pe Barnabas şi pe alţi câţiva dintre ei să se suie la Ierusalim pentru această problemă, la apostoli şi la bătrâni.

3 A nd being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

Aşadar, după ce au fost însoţiţi de către biserică, ei au călătorit prin Fenicia şi Samaria şi au istorisit despre cum s-au convertit neamurile. Şi le-au făcut astfel o mare bucurie tuturor fraţilor.

4 A nd when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.

Când au ajuns în Ierusalim, au fost primiţi de biserică, de apostoli şi de bătrâni şi au povestit tot ce făcuse Dumnezeu cu ei.

5 B ut there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

Atunci unii din partida fariseilor care crezuseră s-au ridicat şi au spus că şi neamurile trebuie să fie circumcise şi că trebuie să li se poruncească şi lor să păzească Legea lui Moise.

6 A nd the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.

Apostolii şi bătrânii s-au adunat ca să vadă ce este de făcut în legătură cu această problemă.

7 A nd when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

După multe discuţii, Petru s-a ridicat şi le-a zis: „Bărbaţi, fraţilor, voi ştiţi că de o bună bucată de vreme, Dumnezeu a făcut o alegere între voi, ca, prin gura mea, neamurile să audă cuvântul Evangheliei şi să creadă.

8 A nd God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

Şi Dumnezeu, Care cunoaşte inimile, a depus mărturie pentru ele, dându-le Duhul Sfânt la fel ca şi nouă.

9 a nd put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

El n-a făcut nici o deosebire între noi şi ele, întrucât le-a curăţit inimile prin credinţă.

10 N ow therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

Acum deci, de ce-L puneţi la încercare pe Dumnezeu, punând pe gâtul ucenicilor un jug pe care nici strămoşii noştri şi nici noi nu l-am putut purta?

11 B ut we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

Dimpotrivă, noi credem că suntem mântuiţi prin harul Domnului Isus, la fel ca şi ele.“

12 T hen all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

Toată mulţimea a tăcut şi i-a ascultat pe Barnabas şi pe Pavel istorisind toate semnele şi minunile pe care le făcuse Dumnezeu prin ei printre neamuri.

13 A nd after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

Când au terminat de vorbit, Iacov a zis: „Bărbaţi, fraţilor, ascultaţi -mă!

14 S imeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.

Simon ne-a istorisit cum mai întâi Dumnezeu Şi-a arătat grija luând dintre neamuri un popor pentru Numele Său.

15 A nd to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,

Şi cu acest lucru sunt de acord cuvintele profeţilor, aşa cum este scris:

16 A fter this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

«După aceea, Mă voi întoarce şi voi ridica cortul căzut al lui David. Îi voi ridica ruinele şi-l voi reclădi,

17 t hat the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

ca astfel rămăşiţa de oameni să-L caute pe Domnul, precum şi toate neamurile peste care este chemat Numele Meu, zice Domnul, Cel Care face aceste lucruri

18 K nown unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

şi Căruia Îi sunt cunoscute din veşnicie.»

19 W herefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

De aceea, eu sunt de părere să nu le pricinuim greutăţi acelora dintre neamuri care se întorc la Dumnezeu,

20 b ut that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

ci să le scriem să se ferească de lucrurile pângărite de idoli, de adulter, de animale sugrumate şi de sânge.

21 F or Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

Căci încă din generaţiile din vechime Moise are în fiecare cetate oameni care-l proclamă în sinagogi, el fiind citit în fiecare Sabat.“ Scrisoarea Sinodului către credincioşii dintre neamuri

22 T hen pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:

Atunci apostolii şi bătrânii, împreună cu toată biserica, au hotărât să aleagă dintre ei nişte bărbaţi pe care să-i trimită în Antiohia, împreună cu Barnabas şi cu Pavel. I-au ales pe Iuda, numit şi Barsabas, şi pe Silas, bărbaţi cu funcţie de conducere între fraţi.

23 a nd they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:

Au trimis prin ei următoarea scrisoare: „Apostolii şi bătrânii, fraţii voştri, către fraţii dintre neamuri, care sunt în Antiohia, Siria şi Cilicia. Salutare!

24 F orasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

Fiindcă am auzit că unii care au plecat dintre noi, fără ca noi să le poruncim, v-au tulburat prin cuvintele lor şi v-au necăjit sufletele, (zicând să vă tăiaţi împrejur şi să păziţi Legea,)

25 i t seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

am hotărât într-un singur gând să alegem nişte bărbaţi pe care să-i trimitem la voi împreună cu preaiubiţii noştri Barnabas şi Pavel,

26 m en that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

oameni care şi-au riscat viaţa pentru Numele Domnului nostru Isus Cristos.

27 W e have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

Aşadar, i-am trimis pe Iuda şi pe Silas, şi ei vă vor spune, prin viu grai, aceleaşi lucruri.

28 F or it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

Căci ni s-a părut potrivit, Duhului Sfânt şi nouă, să nu mai punem nici o altă povară asupra voastră, decât aceste lucruri necesare

29 t hat ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

şi anume: să vă feriţi de ceea ce este jertfit idolilor, de sânge, de animale sugrumate şi de adulter, lucruri de care, dacă vă veţi păzi, va fi bine de voi. Fiţi sănătoşi!“

30 S o when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:

Aşadar, când cei trimişi au ajuns în Antiohia, au adunat mulţimea şi le-au dat scrisoarea.

31 w hich when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.

Citind-o, fraţii s-au bucurat de mesajul de încurajare.

32 A nd Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.

Iuda şi Silas, care şi ei erau profeţi, i-au încurajat pe fraţi şi i-au întărit prin multe cuvinte.

33 A nd after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.

După ce au petrecut acolo câtva timp, au fost lăsaţi de către fraţi să plece în pace la cei care-i trimiseseră.

34 N otwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.

(Totuşi Silas a hotărât să rămână acolo.)

35 P aul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

Pavel şi Barnabas au rămas în Antiohia şi, împreună cu mulţi alţii, dădeau învăţătură şi vesteau Cuvântul Domnului. Disputa dintre Pavel şi Barnabas

36 A nd some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.

După câteva zile, Pavel i-a zis lui Barnabas: „Să ne întoarcem şi să vizităm fraţii din fiecare cetate în care am predicat Cuvântul Domnului, ca să vedem ce mai fac!“

37 A nd Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.

Barnabas voia să-l ia cu ei şi pe Ioan, numit Marcu,

38 B ut Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.

dar Pavel considera că nu este bine să-l ia cu ei pe acela care-i părăsise în Pamfilia şi nu-i însoţise mai departe în lucrare.

39 A nd the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

Disputa a fost atât de aprinsă, încât s-au despărţit unul de altul. Barnabas l-a luat pe Marcu şi a plecat pe mare în Cipru,

40 a nd Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.

iar Pavel l-a ales pe Silas şi a plecat, după ce a fost încredinţat de fraţi în grija harului Domnului.

41 A nd he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.

El a călătorit prin Siria şi Cilicia, întărind bisericile.
